Post 'em up.
Dennis was huge with both his arm (whenever he was able to avoid the ridiculous pass rush) and his legs today
Cal overcame 3 1st quarter turnovers as new QB Dennis threw 2 bad picks on the first 2 drives and then fumbled while sacked in the red zone to end the 1st quarter. Dennis settled down and then was HUGE on the day. He did this despite a crazy pass rush by the Cards. Cal had both facets of the offense going with 256 yards and 5 TDs through the air and 368 yds and 3 TDs on the ground. Everyone got involved with the ground attack as the Bears had 4 different guys rush for 50+. The Bears D was terrible against the pass today (as compared to last week when they completely shut down the Noles) as they gave up nearly 400 yards through the air.
Speed Back Khalfani Muhammad using his speed, then making a defender look silly as he loses his jock on the play
QB David Dennis - 207.7, 20/26 (76%), 256 yds, 5 TD, 2 INT - 14 car, 134 yds (9.5 YPC)
WR Chris Harper - 10 rec, 104 yds, 2 TD
WR Kenny Lawler - 4 rec, 86 yds, TD
MLB Jalen Jefferson - 10 tkls, 4 TFL
The "Arch" Rivalry (get it?)
First regular season rivalry game for Missouri in over two years (only the 2nd rivalry game ever. First was SEC Championship vs. aTm in 2013). Illinois would jump out to an early 14 point lead after MU QB Berkstresser tossed an INT on the goal line after Illinois took the opening drive all the way down the field. After that, Coach Mycok put down the hammer and IL would be held scoreless until late usual cpu hurry-up cheese. Berkstresser would end the day with 356 yards passing and 3 TDs after a shake-up in the WR depth chart. With so many guys ranked the same it's been tough to see who can step-up and make the big catches. MU TE Culkins continues to bea beast to bring down after catching the ball. And of course Hansbrough had his day behind the senior o-line for a total of 157 yards on the ground and 4 TD. The defense again got to the QB with just a defensive line for 7 sacks. It didn't help IL that their QB kept trying to move the pocket, often running directly into d-lineman who were blowing up the line.
Player of the Game:
MU RB Hansbrough 17 car 157 yds 4 TDs
