Patriots beat the Bills 35-21
This was a match up of a good offense versus a good defense. Going into the game the Bills were averaging 358 yards per game and the Patriots were giving up 297 yards per game. This was also a very important game in the division. The Patriots had beat the Bills 4 in a row since the beginning of the 2013 season going to this game.
The keys going into the game were
-Running the Football.
-Winning the Turnover battle
One of the keys that didn't get mentioned was third down conversions, red zone td's, and field position. The Patriots did a great job of winning the field position battle and getting key 3rd down conversions. The Pats had 5 third down conversions. They also did great in the red zone scoring TD's every time they got there.
The Patriots defense gave up more yards than they wanted but, they kept the Bills out of the end zone pretty well. They game up 363 yards of offense but, only gave up 2 TD's.
The Patriots offense on the other hand used the great field position they were getting to make the most of the opportunities. They scored offensive 5 TD's in the game with only 286 yards of offense.
1. QB Ryan Mallett did exactly what he needed to do. He was efficient and took care of the football. He did a great job of recovering form a int he threw on the opening drive to end up throwing for 4 TD's.
2. TE Rob Gronkowski had a great game with 4 catches for 112 yards and 2 TD's.
3. DE Jermaine Cunningham had 5 tackles and 2 key sacks.
Next up for the Patriots is a road trip against the 49ers. Look for a preview of this game soon.
