    Shocker in Blacksburg!
    Syracuse Upsets #8 Virginia Tech
The Orange went into hostile territory and came back from being down by 8 in the 4th to stun the Hokies 15-14. The Syracuse defense played well all game, especially in the 2nd Half as they completely shutdown the Virginia Tech offense after trailing 14-6 at the Half.
Both defenses tightened up in the 3rd Quarter and the Orange looked headed for another tough loss to a Top 25 team, until QB Kasey Nichols connected Sophomore WR Brian Wright on a 48-yard TD bomb with over 6 minutes remaining in regulation. Nichols was sacked on the 2-pt attempt and Syracuse trailed by only 2. After another big defensive stop, a 51-yard FG attempt by the Hokies fell just short and the Orange took over near midfield with about 3 minutes left. After a few key 3rd Down conversions and tough running by Sophomore HB Mario Washington, K Mark Butler converted a 22-yard FG with just over a minute remaining to take a 1-point lead. All-American DE Donnie Simmons and the defense sealed the victory when QB Carrington was sacked on a 4th and Long.
Next, Syracuse opens up conference play vs Baylor.
QB Kasey Nichols - 12/21, 172 YDS, TD
HB Mario Washington - 22 RUSH, 88 YDS
WR Brian Wright - 6 REC, 104 YDS, TD
DE Donnie Simmons - 3 TKLS, 2 SCKS
    Virginia Tech
    QB Aaron Carrington - 8/9, 108 YDS, 7 RUSH, 19 YDS, TD
HB Michael Holmes - 13 RUSH, 86 YDS
TE Chris Franklin - 3 REC, 47 YDS
OLB Devin Vandyke - 7 TKLS

    Never Rattled
It would be a game that the Huskies took an early lead in, and never really looked back. They traveled all the way to Boise, Idaho to take on the Boise State Bronco's on their patented blue turf. The artificial turf didn't slow the Huskies down one bit as QB Cyler Miles drove his team down in the opening drive and taking a 7-0 lead on a 5 yard scamper. Miles finished the gamre with 42 on the ground on a whopping 19 attempts, with that being his lone score on the ground. He had a quiet 10/17 142 yard passing day, connecting with favorite wideout target SR Diondre Campbell from 32 for the walk in TD.
The Husky defense bent but did not break and sacked the Bronco QB 7 times en route to disabling any aspect of their offense as they managed 102 total yards. Boise added a 1yard TD rush late in the 3rd but it wouldn't be anywhere near engouh as Miles let his running back do a lot of the work scampering on 18 carries for 122 yards and a score on his long of the day, 37 yards.
The Huskies host UCLA next week and have a few recruits scheduled for their official visit.

Louisville defeated previously #3 ranked Notre Dame and replaced them this week at the #3 ranking. It started rough with ND hitting the scoreboard first 7-0. Louisville would get on the board soon after but the drive had a HUGE cost. Starting HB and sophomore stud Kris Cole went down with an injury. He will be out for 4 weeks. Ouch. Luckily the Cards have an experienced backup in #22 Lamb who is good enough to push Cole for the starting spot. He should fill in solidly but will not have the BIG play ability. The Cardinals would rally behind their fallen comrade and take it to the Catholics to a final score of 42-14.

True Freshman QB Brown stepped up big time passing for 302 yards and rushing for 60+ as well. He will have to shoulder a lot more of the load in Coles absence. Luckily the Cards have a bye next week so Cole will miss one less game.

This injury ends any Heisman hopes for the talented Sophomore but hopefully he can get back at full strength in time for the stretch run on the way to contend for another Big East title and hopefully a bid to the National Championship!
