    49ers Back on Winning Track
    defeat Colts 31-17

San Francisco prevailed against a scrappy Colts team in Indianapolis on the strength of two fourth-quarter TD passes by Colin Kaepernick. It didn't start out well for the 49ers as the Colts scored on their first play from scrimmage as Andrew Luck hit TE Michael Egnew over the middle for an 81 yard catch-and-run TD. San Francisco would get on the board with a short FG before taking their first lead of the game on a CB Tarell Brown interception return for touchdown. Though the Colts would convert a FG of their own to tie the game at 10, a well-executed screen pass to HB Cedric Shephard would put the 49ers back ahead at half, 17-10.

The third quarter saw Indianapolis tie the game on a short TD run by HB Lamar Miller, following an interception of Kaepernick, his third of the game. Nevertheless, the San Francisco offense would regain its composure and drive into Colts territory entering the fourth. There, history would repeat itself as the 49ers caught Indianapolis blitzing, allowing Shepherd to again go for a TD on a HB Screen play. The Colts turned it over on their next possession, allowing Kaepernick to put the game away, this time with a 44 yard strike to WR Jameel Sommerfield.
