The Niners hosted their opponent for the 3rd straight week, and this week it was the Houston Texans coming in, and we would finally have our Aldon Smith vs JJ Watt match up. The Niners forced a Texans punt on their first possession, and followed that up with a long drive that ended with a touchdown. Once the 49ers got inside the redzone, Kaepernick found Vernon Davis on a corner route for a would-be touchdown, only to be called back on a holding call. But that didn't deter the Niners as a couple plays later Kaepernick found rookie WR Taylor Neville on a post for a TD. On the Texans next drive, Matt Schaub would be picked off by Chris Culliver, setting the Niners up in great field position, but the Texans defense stiffened and held the 49ers to a mere FG, putting the Niners up 10-0. Both teams would trade possessions a couple times before the end of the half, then with about a minute left in the 1st half, the Niners punted to the Texans leaving them around their 30 yard line, and on the first play Schaub would throw another INT to Culliver which he returned for a TD this time putting the Niners up 17-0 at the half. In the 2nd half, the Texans would find out just how menacing Aldon Smith can be, as the Texans resorted to the pass more frequently, Schaub found himself on his back more frequently as well as Aldon Smith racked up 7 sacks in this game and a forced fumble. But the Niners offense couldn't capitalize on anything in the 2nd half vs this stingy Texans D. After the Texans had gotten a FG, late in the 4th quarter, the Niners were faced with a 3rd and medium in their own territory, expecting a blitz they called a screen, but JJ Watt read it and just shoved Kendall Hunter out of the way and picked it off taking it all the way down to the 1, where on the next play Arian Foster would get a TD run to bring the Texans to within 7 points, but that would be it as the Niners held off for the victory.

    Rams - 30
    Panthers - 0

The Rams were led by a solid running game and strong defense with Ahmad Bradshaw going for 80 yards and a score, while the Rams defense really gave the Panthers fits all game. Robert Quinn and Enoch Williams both managed to get sacks as they really pressured the Panther QB all game. Bradford is still struggling but was able to find lightening fast Titus Young for two long scores. Solid performance by the Rams who move to 3-0.

This would be a defensive struggle as both teams would find it hard to score points, either team would break the 250 yd mark of total offense. The Raiders would open up the scoring as Philip Rivers would hit Denarius Moore for a 13 yd TD pass the Rivers would hook up with Heyward-Bey who would take a pass 61 yds to the house to give Oakland a 14-0 half time lead. The Cowboys werent out of it yet as they would score a TD on a Dez Bryant 4 yd TD reception late in the 3rd quarter to make a game of it, the Cowboys would then go out and get the stop they needed and get the ball back. On the ensuing drive Tanner Hurns would throw his 2nd INT of the game which would prove to be a costly one. The Raiders would end driving down the field chewing up some serious clock then kicking a field goal to give The Raiders a 10 point lead. Dallas would turn the ball over on downs on there next possession and The Raiders would hang on for the big win 17-7 and move to 2-1 on the year.

    24 - 17
The Giants traveled to the Nations Capital for their 3rd straight road game to face the Redskins in their annual battle for NFC East supremacy. The Redskins would be playing their 2nd straight game without their head coach but this week they got a better performance from RG3. Each team mixed in the run and the pass and neither team was able to gain an advantage as the two team entered the 4th Qtr tied at 17-17. In the final Qtr the Giants run game continued to wear on the Redskins defense as they drove for the go ahead TD with less than 3 minutes to play. The Giants defense was able to the stop they needed and gave the ball back to the offense who ground out the remaining time and secured the 24-17 win. Eli was an efficient 10 of 17 for 183 yards and 3 Tds while Jamario Ward rushed for 117 yards on 25 carries.
