Lions Rout the Bye for 4th Straight Season
DETROIT -- Calvin Johnson caught 18 passes for 965 yards and 12 touchdowns as the Detroit Lions defeated the Bye 182-7 to win their second straight game of the season. After falling behind 7-0 on the opening drive, when rapist Big Ben made a surprise appearance, the Lions realed off touchdowns on 26 straight possessions. Matthew Stafford completed 25 of 27 passes for a NFL record 1111 yards and 14 touchdowns. Second year backup Marquiste Culliver came in and put up some nice numbers as well. On the ground, Jahvid Best and Mikel Leshoure tallied 400 yards and 6 touchdowns apiece. "Playing against no defense made the day easier for us" said Stafford who was noticeably frustrated about his two incompletions. With time running out in through the fourth quarter, defensive tackles Nick Fairley and Ndamukong Suh, who were quite bored on the sideline, got into the action. Fairley contributed with one run for 43 yards before he had to step out of bounds at the five yard line due to severe fatigue. Suh came in and punched in the final score of the game. Next week, the Lions travel to Tampa Bay to face off against the winless Buccaneers.
V-I-K-I-N-G-S, VIKINGS, VIKINGS, SKOL VIKINGS!Redskins fall to the Purple, 26-6. Hack's brother boots 4 field goals for the Vikings. The Vikings traveled to FedEx Field for a battle with NFC East's Washington Redskins. The Vikings would jump out to a 14-0 lead. Doing it by pounding the rock as Ivory and Gerhart reached the end zone. A 3rd and out would see Jaden Thomas hit on a punt return causing him to fumble. The Vikings defense held strong and forced a field goal. The 2nd quarter wouldn't be as exciting as the teams exchanged field goals before heading into the locker room. It would be all Shayne Graham in the 2nd half as he kicked 3 field goals to put the conservative Minnesota Vikings on top 26-6. For us, it was our ability to run and stop their offense. Christian Ponder wasn't put in awful situations so he took advantage of the defense. Chris Ivory went for 153 yards on 22 carries and Toby Gerhart spelled him 9 times for 21 yards. Prince Justice, Brandon Burton, Frantanzy Watson and Justin Tryon all had interceptions. The Vikings get to rest next week but at 5-0, our team will be put the test as we will go on 6 straight games verse users starting off with a rematch against the St. Louis Rams.
Rams 41 49ers 10 St Louis, Missouri Recap: Coming into this week the key thing was to not look past the 49ers. The Rams have some key games coming up against top-tier competition but first they had to deal with the 49ers, and the team was able to come away with their best overall performance this season to demolish the hapless 9ers. The running game was great, as the team ended with 239 net rushing yards, with Sterlin Freeman accounting for 146 of them on 19 carries. Sam Bradford had one of his better days as well going 16/23 for 289 yards with 3 TDs and an INT. The defense was awesome, limiting the 49ers to a 59 yard FG before they were able to mount a drive at the end of the game to get their lone touchdown of the day. They key for the defense was to take Vernon Davis out of this game, and they succeeded, limiting the All-Pro TE to 1 catch for 2 yards. Injury News: -James Laurinaitis looks like he is on schedule to return after the Rams bye-week, meaning he will miss the team's next 3 games. -Austin Collie came up limping after his second catch of the day and initial prognosis is not good. He looks likely to miss the next 8 weeks with a herniated disk. With this bad news came some good though, as rookie WR Montra Mintlow replaced Collie and had himself a great day. Ending with 4 catches for 116 yards, including a 52 yard TD catch in the 3rd quarter. Looking Ahead: The Rams now brace themselves for 3 crucial conference games before their week 9 bye. The Rams will face the Panthers, Vikings and Cardinals in a 3 game stretch that will test the team mentally and physically. If the team wants to prove their doubters wrong that they are indeed the best NFC team in the league, they need to show what they are capable of in this three game stretch starting with a home game against the Cam Newton led Panthers.
Shift of Power in NFC East? 26 - 20 The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys have been the leagues most fierce rivalry. Despite the competition and usual margin of victory, New York only owns a single win and no division crown in the series. This year, may be different. As both teams took the field in Jerry's World, the head coaches knew this game would set the tone for the rest of the season. New York won the last meeting between the two, and Dallas had revenge on their mind. The Giants wanted to let Dallas know all of the hype the Cowboys have received all season would not scare them and that New York is ready to fight for the NFC East crown. Both teams played phenomenal defense throughout the game, as New York went to the locker room at half with a 6-3 lead. Neither team could establish a run game and it looked like it would come down to the wire. That is exactly what happened. After half, Dallas received the ball and HB Felix Jones broke an 80 yard screen pass to put Dallas up 10-6 and from there, it was game on. The GMen moved the ball into Dallas territory and from 55 yards out they had a field goal opportunity that New York was unsure of. With plans of taking the delay of game and punting, New York HC Cimmy said, "Fuck it" and pulled the trigger making the 55 yarder and pulling New York within 1. With the 3rd quarter winding down, Dallas tacked on another 3 and it was 13-9 heading to the 4th. The Giants felt they had an uphill battle, but after wearing down the Dallas defense, HB Corey Mays was able to put New York up 16-13 with a 1 yard run early in the 4th. On the ensuing drive, the Giants took the momentum. Dallas QB Mallett dropped back and was picked off by one of the newest Giants MLB David Hawthorne who took the pick to the house for a 33 yard pick 6, putting Big Blue up 23-13 with a little over 7 minutes remaining. Dallas did not back down as Mallett hooked up with WR Tate on a 65 yard scramble as Hawthorne missed on another INT opportunity, pulling Dallas within 3. New York controlled the ball and moved into Dallas' half of the field. Looking to put the nail in the coffin, the Giants were stopped on 3rd down deep inside the Dallas redzone and forced to take a Field Goal, giving NY the 26-20 lead. Dallas had one more opportunity with just under 2 minutes left and made every bit of it count. They moved to the Giants half of the field and with 15 secs left and no timeouts, the Giants secondary blanketed the Dallas receivers, forcing Mallett to scramble. Mallett could not make it to the sidelines and was tackled in bounds with 8 seconds left. The Giants watched as the clock hit zero and the game was over. Giving New York a 26-20 victory and their first back-to-back wins over Dallas in the last 4 seasons. GG cadepetty247 See you in MetLife
Titans Win On the Road Titans Advance to 5-0 this year
16-3 Houston,TX- This game was a good clash of rivals and now has become the series of the Titans. Titans would come out with the ball first looking to get the momentum on our side of the ball right off the bat. This was done on an 80 yard touchdown run from Chris Johnson. He slipped through a hole up the middle and burst through it going untouched for 80 yards. The offensive line left a big enough gap for CJ to find it and made a move in the open field to go the distance. The rest of the game was very defensive as Houston's QB Dyjuan Dozier has greatly improved and was putting on nice touch finding Andre Johnson multiple times for big yards. Defensively Titans would only tally up 3 sacks compared to Houston getting to Jake Locker SEVEN times today. The passing game was controlled by the front 4 of the Houston Defensive line. Locker simply had no time to even think in the pocket. Coach kept riding him on the sidelines tell him to use his feet to gain some time. Locker was determined to figure out this pocket game, only leading to more and more sacks. Coach expressed his fits after the game by saying 'he has great feet and shouldn't be afraid to use them, he is deathly afraid of the linebackers I think'. The rushing attack was their for the Titans as they combined for 175 yards with their 3 headed back system. Coach made this change over the off season and he is amazed how it is working. We need to feed the rock to RB Javon Ringer more often but RB Akiee Moore is getting the rock just not producing, Ringer has the upside of hitting the gap stronger but Moore is a lot harder to bring down. Both are a great change of pace to Chris Johnson and expect more and more action from these 2 backs. Chris Johnson may not be the top runner in the league but he is easily the best player on Titans and will get the ball his fair share of times but Ringer and Moore will cut into the share throughout the year.
Titans will into Indianapolis looking to get the sweep. They got the Rookie QB last game but they expect the rookie to be more prepared and ready to rock and roll. This game will be exciting and Titans will be extremely pumped up for this one.

Falcons Win GOTW, Beat Jets Atlanta 27 - Jets 13 Get off me son! Mendenhall carried the Falcons offense as the Jets had no answer for his power running. NEW YORK - In Week 5's game of the week, the undefeated Falcons and Jets faced off in the Big Apple. Most people were picking the Jets. Most people were wrong. Falcons veteran LB Michael Boley picked off Jets QB Tim Tebow twice consecutively in the Jets first 2 opening drives. This gave the Falcons an early 10-0 lead as they created points off of both of those turnovers. That fantastic start was all they needed to take control of the game and never look back. RB Rashard Mendenhall could not be stopped as he moved the ball effectively for the offense. He finished with 224 yards on 27 attempts and 2 TDs. Peyton Manning struggled as he completed on 4 passes for 79 yards. He also threw 2 INTs. He will need to improve his play if the Falcons want to get better and have a more balanced offense. Defensively, Atlanta was able to contain Tebow just enough to prevent a comeback. They were able to hold Stewart under 100 yards and forced long time consuming drives that made the Jets simply run out of time. The Falcons are now 5-0 and look to soar into the top 5 HK power rankings. GG JB
nice dub GTG. That bastid Mendenhall will hit 2k in yards by week 11, lol. He's been beastin
I find it hilarious that you don't mention once who you played this week lol
doesnt matter win is a win
right but what is the point of a recap if it doesn't say who you played, I was genuinely curious. It's a mystery.
It has been worth it to overpay him so far.
If you were that curious then u would look it up yourself
Harrison Anthony Has Breakout Performance In Win Over Panthers
In a rematch of Superbowl XXXVIII, the Panthers would come up to New England and face the Patriots in a match up of 2 teams hoping to get on the right track. The Patriots got the ball first and went on a long time consuming drive and capped it off with a TD run by rookie RB Harrison Anthony. Then on Carolina's first offensive play, Mark Ingram was nailed by a Patriots defender and fumbled the ball. It was recovered by DE Chris Long. The Patriots went back to work with the same formula as before but stalled inside of the Panthers 10 yard line and ended up getting a FG out of the turnover to make it an early 10-0 lead. Then the Panthers started to make their move. They went on a long drive of their own and marched down the field. Cam Newton would end up throwing a nice TD pass to TE Greg Olsen over the middle of the field. Then their defense stepped up on the Patriots next possession and forced a quick punt. The Panthers started to move the ball down the field again but the Patriots were able to stop them at the 1 yard line a force a FG and a 10-10 tie at halftime. In the 2nd half, the Panthers got the ball first and had kept their momentum from the end of the 2nd quarter. They started to move down the field again but got held up and were forced to go for another FG and take a 13-10 lead. At this point, the Patriots started to step up and take back control of this game. The offense was still struggling some so the 2 teams were trading possessions. Then towards the end of the 3rd quarter, the Patriots offense would start to explode for the 1st time this season. The Panthers had just punted the ball back to the Patriots, and on the first play of this series, Chad Ochocinco would run a 10 yard out route against man coverage with no safety help. Matt Ryan threw a great pass that was nearly intercepted but Ochocinco was able to turn up field and take it 72 yards for a 17-13 lead. The Panthers got the ball back but couldn't do anything with it and would punt it back to the Patriots. Then RB Harrison Anthony began to find some nice holes and running lanes as the Patriots were moving down the field easily. Anthony would then break through for the longest run of his young career for a 37 yard TD and a 24-13 lead. The Panthers, now facing a 2 score deficit late in the game, had to commit to passing the ball and that ended up hurting them. On their 3rd play of the series, Cam Newton threw an interception to DB Bryan McCann and he nearly returned it for a TD but was forced out of bounds inside of the Panthers 1 yard line. 1 play later, Anthony was in for his 3rd TD of the game for a 31-13 lead. On the Panthers next possession, Cam Newton would throw another interception, this time to Charles Woodson, on their very first play of the series. Then again, 1 play later, Harrison Anthony broke through for another long run for his 4th TD of the game and a 38-13 lead. The 2 teams traded possessions for the rest of the game as the Patriots went on to get their 1st victory of the season.
