CU Picks Up First Pac-12 Win Of the Season

Colorado hosted the Arizona State Sun Devils in their 2nd Pac-12 game and 1st Pac-12 South game in the 2014 season. It ended up being a thrilling game between 2 relatively evenly matched teams. ASU took the first lead of the game in the 1st quarter and it started to look like the game against OSU in week 5. However, CU was able to respond consistently in this game. So CU tied the game 7-7 on their next possession. Then once they got the ball back again, Dorman hit Castillo for an 85 yard pass to take the lead. ASU was able to come back too though and answered on their next possession to make it 14-14. With 2 minutes left, CU wasn't done and they were able to push it back up to 21-14 before the half.

The Buffs got the ball to start the 2nd half and were hoping to put ASU down by 2 scores. That didn't happen though as they had a 3-n-out. The Sun Devils were able to quickly tie it 21-21. Then another short CU possession led to another TD drive for ASU making it 28-21. Colorado wasn't done yet. The offense showed up and came back for another TD drive and tied it 5th time in the game at 28-28. Then in the 4th quarter, the Buffs were able to grab the lead again at 35-28. ASU was able to move quickly in response but CU's defense stood tough and held them to a FG making it 35-31. Colorado, just trying to run out the clock, ended up having to punt it back to ASU. ASU would have a horrible possession getting a holding penalty and 2 sacks with the 2nd sack getting a safety pushing it up to 37-31. ASU would end up getting another chance though. And being down just 6 points meant that a TD would give them the win. They couldn't get it down though as they turned it over on downs.

Player of the Game: QB Stevie Dorman - He didn't have a great day in terms of efficiency but he connected on 3-4 deep passes that kept CU in the game and ended up leading to victory.

Upcoming: The Buffs stay home for their 4th straight home game. This time they play UCLA. The Bruins are coming off of a 30-0 loss against Washington in Seattle so the Buffs will hope to continue what the Huskies started.
