TSG Hoffenheim advance to the Coppa quarterfinals with a comeback win over CSKA Moscow in Russia. It was a tense start to the match, as both sides played through midfield and did not take many shots. It was the home side who struck first, on the counter through S. Doumbia, to open the scoring. Just before half time, the home team added another goal, after stripping a Hoffenheim defender and burying the shot.

Down 2-0 at the half, the visiting German club seemed helpless. But a scrappy goal by defender M. Compper off the team's only corner kick of the game brought life to the side, and it was none other than S. Salihovic who leveled the score, blasting home a rebound from just outside the box. At 2-2, both teams seemed content to let it go to extra time, but 2nd half sub P. Mlapa was eager to prove he belongs in the first team. The hulking forward burst into the area, and was clipped just before getting off his shot. All eyes on the referee, he was quick to point to the spot, awarding a lifeline to Hoffenheim. S. Salihovic stepped up, and put the ball in the back of the net. The visiting fans erupted, and the German side saw off the last 4 minutes of the game to survive and advance.

GG RedAL925. I missed out on what could have put the game away prior to your comeback. As soon as Honda missed that roller to end the 1st half I got a bad feeling about how the rest would go. Doumbia ballooning 2 clear chances in the 2nd half and another by Honda killed any morale that was left lol

Wolves battled back from a 1-0 deficit early in the second half to rally for a 3-1 win. The Wolves defense was able to shut down TSG in the final 3rd and lead to counterattacks for the Wolverhampton side. Johnson put TSG on top early with a smooth move in the 18 with a cool finish to the back post. Ebanks-Blake got things even fighting off two TSG defenders in the 18 before sliding it bast the keeper. A 2-1 off a counter led to the Wolves eventual GW as Fletcher buried the Ebanks-Blake feed. Fletcher tallied another in the dying seconds to lock it up.

Werder Bremen Firing On All Cylinders In Quarterfinal Win
Looking to reach the cup semifinals for the third time in four seasons, Werder Bremen came out looking strong. The German club scored twice in the first 15 minutes, and Mehmet Ekici missed an open-net third goal when he smashed it into the crossbar. Just before the half, Ignjovski would tack on the third for Werder Bremen. Following a fourth goal, Bremen looked comfortably on top with the game in hand. Bobby Zamora fired back with a wonderful strike to close back the lead to 3, but Aaron Hunt would cancel out the QPR goal minutes later. The score remained 5-1 'til the end, and Werder Bremen finds themselves back in the semifinals. The Werder defense did well in holding QPR to just 1 shot on target, while the team's offense was constantly threatening for more. Wolverhampton will be next up for Bremen, and the two clubs will play twice next week, as they are also set to play in the final matchweek for Serie A.

Werder Bremen Punch Ticket To Coppa Tradizione Final
In a battle between two common semifinalists, it was Werder Bremen who came away on top, duplicating the 3-1 scoreline from the Season 3 semifinal between Bremen and Wolverhampton. When looking at the stat sheet, it appeared to be all Wolves. The English club had 22 shots, 11 of which were on target. But with the Bremen defenders forcing difficult looks and GK Tim Wiese turning in a phenomenal man of the match performance, Bremen simply could not be beaten today. Bremen got out of the gates right away, as some early goals laid the foundation for the rest of the match. Following a loose ball after a corner kick, full back Lukas Schmitz fired in a shot that was deflected by a Wolves defender on its way into the back of the net. In the 18th minute, Aaron Hunt doubled the lead to 2-0 when he launched in an impressive left-footed curl past the keeper. These two shots were all Bremen could claim in the first half, while Wolverhampton had 11 shots in the half. But despite a Steven Fletcher goal early in the second half, Bremen stood its ground. Finally with the game nearly over, Claudio Pizarro hit in a goal in the 87th minute to secure the German club's trip to the Final. The possession battle was neck and neck at 50% apiece, but the match was ruled by Wiese's strong play. "A total defensive effort," claimed Coach Bronc following the match. "Wiese was in world class form in net, while the rest of the defenders made for some difficult shots. We knew Wolverhampton would be coming in firing, especially after falling down early. We stuck to our gameplan, hit on our opportunities, and now we have a ticket in the Final to show for it!" That final opponent is yet to be determined however, as four clubs still remain alive in the other half of the bracket.

The Spartak keeper, Dikan was the man of the match with a 9.90 rating and 12 saves. Montpellier could not get their numerous opportunities on frame and when they did the Russian keeper was up to the task. Giroud headed a Dernis cross home on a quick break for the French side that would stand as this games lone goal.

    23' Giroud
    28' Belhanda from Utaka
    70 Mbokani from Suarez

Montpellier controlled the game early and looked to possibly blow this one open after two early goals but failed to score the 3rd that would have given the comfortable cushion. Both teams strung a few passes together to close out the half with little to show for themselves. Then in the second Anderlecht seemed to push the game and became very dangerous testing Joudren and forcing a huge save off of a low shot which looked to put the home side on the board. Minutes later Mbokani danced through the French D and slotted home.
Montpellier withstood more attacks and even had a good chance to stretch the lead but Utakas shot flew wide. Time then became important as both teams made a sub late but neither made a difference as it ended 1-2.

WERDER BREMEN WINS COPPA IN EXTRA TIME THRILLER!
The Coppa Tradizione Final lived up to the hype surrounding the match, as late goals and extra time made this one a final to remember. The match started out with both teams getting a sense of one another since the two had yet to ever face off. Montpellier started the game strong, and in the 26th minute, would take a 1-0 lead. The goal came off of a well-struck kick from Olivier Giroud, who nailed it into the nearside of the post from the left half of the box. Bremen GK Tim Wiese looked confused that a ball was able to slip in from such an awkward angle. The score stayed 1-0 at the half, while both teams looked poised for more. In the 64th minute, Bremen finally got on the board. An attacker picked up the ball in the penalty box and was brought down quickly by a Montpellier defender. The penalty had to be called, and once it was, Claudio Pizarro made sure it counted. With the score 1-1 entering the final 10 minutes of the match, the match was beginning to head toward extra time. However, in the 83rd minute, Olivier Giroud capped off a brace with a wormburner from just outside the center of the box. Giroud found an opening in the Bremen defense, and it was too late for the German club to fix its mistake once the void was created. With only a few minutes left in the match, Montpellier's fans were beginning to celebrate. But hold the party, as substitute Marko Arnautovic quickly made an impact to stun the French club. Mehmet Ekici drove into the box with Arnautovic running parallel to him. Once in the box, Ekici kicked it into the air and Arnautovic headed in a powerful shot to tie the match up again. With the score 2-2, neither side could pull off a 90th minute stunner, and extra time came next. The first half of extra time was somewhat uneventful and neither team did anything to change the stalemate. But minutes into the second half of extra time, Arnautovic found Pizarro as the two were on a breakaway. The easy finish from Pizarro gave Werder Bremen its first lead of the game and forced Montpellier to go all-out attack. Montpellier was struggling to get a shot on target, as Giroud's 83rd minute goal was the only SOT for the club after the 45 minute mark. Bremen nearly scored again to close out the match, but the whistle finally blew before any more goals were scored. The 3-2 win proved to be an exciting match that hosted two contrasting styles. Werder Bremen was frustrated early by Montpellier's passing and possession, but soon adjusted to turn things back in their favor. Montpellier's defense ultimately broke down just enough for Werder Bremen to find the net a few times, and the penalty call proved to be vital in deciding the outcome of the match. With the win, Werder Bremen has now won their second Coppa Tradizione title, with the other one coming back in Season 3. The win also clinches a spot in the Supercoppa for the German side, and if Bremen fails to win Serie A, these two clubs will be back at it again in the opening round of the tournament.

gg vipermansa, quite the thriller. The 83' and 88' minute goals are the same times of the Bayern/Chelsea goals... just an interesting tidbit

    Top 5 Performers:
    :trophy: ST M. Arnautovic (8.3)
    ST O. Giroud (8.2)
    RM M. Ekici (8.0)
    ST C. Pizarro (7.9)
    CDM P. Bargfrede (7.8)

Unfortunately, the post-match highlights only saved the following three, all from extra-time. Too bad, since the goals were all fantastic and worthy of being posted.

Left: (107') Marko Arnatovic breaks past the defense and finds Claudio Pizarro for the game-winner. Right: (114') Geoffrey Jourdren keeps Montpellier alive with a vital late save.
(115') Marko Marin nearly ices the game for good, but finds the post instead.

Great game buddy. I don't know why I didnt change my formation late after that second Gioud goal? You switched to an attack and I left mine the same, very costly.
You could see my players were totally gassed in OT while your attackers still had juice to go forward.
It was a thrilling game , congrats on the win and luck to you in the future.
