    Texas 31 - South Carolina 10

The 7th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks travelled to Austin to take on the 8th ranked Texas Longhorns.

South Carolina got on the board first with a field goal. But the next time SC QB Mark Mattox touched the ball, he threw an interception in the at the 1. On 3rd and 10, backed up on their 1, the Longhorn RB broke free for a 99 yard TD run.

The game busted open when with 7 seconds left in the 1st half the longhorns went back to punt. South Carolina ran a punt block, but the punt was a fake. The punter connected with the wideout who had a wide open lane to the endzone. 21 - 3 Longhorns at half.

SC starting QB Mattox went out for the game with an injury and the offense could never get going. As a team, SC went 13-33 with 1 TD and 3 interceptions.

On defense SC gave up 424 total yards, 259 on the ground.

South Carolina will be going back to the drawing board before next weeks game against Georgia.

POTG: Texas RB Malcolm Brown - 16 carries, 250 yards, 2 TDs

Well Auburn hosted Utah and won a tough game, the stats where close and they held our RB in check most of the game. It was the turnovers that sealed it for us. My hats off to coach wayers great game well played

    Florida 23, #10 Penn State 17

Coach JhuJay was able to get his first win as the Florida head coach against a very solid #10 Penn State squad. The game was back and forth, but Florida never really let Penn State back into it.

Florida was able to get a stop on Penn State's first drive, then drove down the field capped off by a 11 yd TD catch by Shaun Manning. Most of the yards on this drive were picked up through the ground, which can also be said for most of the game.

Penn State responded quickly after a long 53 yd FG by Florida. Aaron Johnson flat out beat my corner and was wide open for a 45 yd bomb. Fortunately on the ensuing drive RB Jason Johnson busted through a hole up the middle on a blitz and had a clear path to the endzone giving Florida a 17-7 before Penn State was able to muster a FG before the half making it 17-10.

The 2nd half was essentially a battle for field position. Not very exciting as both offenses were not able to muster up much.

Florida did all of their work on the ground for the game led by Jason Johnson who has 146 yards and 1 TD on 27 carries. He was also the leading receiver with 2 catches for 35 yards. Florida QB Thomas Miranda had a forgettable game as he went 5/14 for 65 yds 1 TD and 2 INT.

    #4 Oregon Survives #19 Alabama
    37 - 27
On Alabama's 1st 2nd play from scrimmage they fumbled they ball and MLB, Josh Morgan scooped it up ans scored from 36 yards out to give the Ducks the early lead and only 28 seconds had past!
17 seconds later the fastest player on the field decided to make up for his fumble!
Alabama's Ben Hunter, took a handoff to his left and stuck his foot in the ground and raced right up the middle untouched for 80 yards to tie the game and only 39 seconds has come off the games 1st Quarter clock.
Oregon's offense started strong but stalled out when Cunningham booted a 42 yard FG to give the Ducks the 10-7 lead at the 3:23 mark of the 1st Q.
Bama did the same thing offensively, they went on a long drive but didnt stall out. Joey Flynn caught a 1 yard pass from Ellison to give Bama the 14-7 lead with 1:53 left in the 1st Q. The drive was helped by another long run by Hunter, who finished the game with just 11 carries but gained 171 yards. The most yards a Coach Hokie team has ever given up to a Running Back!!
Oregon's next possesion didnt do anything and were forced to punt. Bama put another drive together helped by the running of their QB, Ellison. Ellison had a big pass play of 41 yards that set the Tide up inside the Duck 5 yardline. The Duck defense stiffed and forced a 3rd and goal form their own 1 yardline. Morgan who had scooped and scored earlier ROCKED Bama running Back Hunter in the backfield and the ball was on the ground. Strong Safety, Daniel Johnson scooped it and took it back 97 yards to give Oregon the 17-14 lead with 5:04 to play in the 1st half.
Oregon's defense forced a punt after their defensive score and the offense put a long drive together. Fullback Sidney Friffin scored from 2 yards out with only 31 seconds left in the 1st half to give the Duck the 24-14 halftime lead.
Bama got the ball to start the 2nd half and took almost 3 minutes of the clock and scored on another 1 yard pass to another TE, when Ellison found Antonio Roth with 4:13 left in the 3rd Quarter. There were no more scoring in the 3rd, but Oregon took a long drive down inside the 30 yardline but the stingy Bama defense rose again and Oregon settled for a 49 yard FG to give them the 27-21 lead. After a fumble Oregon had the ball inside the Bama 20 yardline but on 4th down Bama stuffed Oregons run game at the 1 yardline! Another fumble later Oregon again could not score on Bama's defense and settled for another FG of 21 yards to take 30-21 lead with 1:54 left. On Bama's next possesion, Ellison was standing on his own endzone and was sacked but the ball fell to the ground and OLB Terrel Anderson fell on it to add their lead and make it 37-21 with just 1:21 left!
Bama went to a hurry up and use their QB to scramble when nobody was open and drove down the field to add a late TD on the board with 12 seconds left when Ellison threw another short TD pass of 2 yard to WR, Bradley Sylve.
3 Defenive Scores and 3 FG's save the struggling Duck Offense!

Colorado Pitches Shocking Shutout At #14 Iowa
    [IMG] [IMG]

Colorado marched into Iowa and displayed their greatest defensive performance in recent memory with special notice going to their secondary. Not only that, but true freshmen Monty Allen(QB) and Lee Kaplan(RB) were both starters for the Buffs. It took a great effort on both sides of the ball to come away victorious in this upset.

Iowa got the ball to start the game and ran 10 yards with 3 broken tackles on their first play. Had they continued to run the ball, this could've been a very different game. However, they didn't and opted to pass the ball. On the 2nd play of the game, Iowa QB Ryan Leak threw an interception which gave the Buffs a short field. Colorado was able to move the ball some but ended up settling for a 44 yard field goal. It would come up short though and leave the game at 0-0. Iowa got the ball back with good field position thanks to the miss but ended up punting back to Colorado. The same went for CU as they had a short possession and would punt it back the Hawkeyes. After a good punt return, Iowa would be forced to punt yet again.

Colorado, after being conservative early with their new QB, recognized the need to open up the passing game some and that changed the game for them offensively. They started to be able to move the ball consistently and would drive down the field on this possession. On the final play, Allen connected with Kaplan on a screen pass that wold go 25 yards for the first points of the season and a 7-0 lead. On Iowa's next possession, Leak would throw another INT giving the Buffs a short field. 3 plays later, Allen hit SR WR Nelson Spruce on a 16 yard TD pass. Colorado would go on to stop Iowa again and would go one last possession in the 2nd half. Colorado opted for a long drive to try and control the clock would get all the way down to Iowa's 5 yard line with just 20 seconds remaining. However, Allen would throw an INT in the endzone which would take the game into the half at 14-0.

In the 2nd half, CU picked up where they left off. The Buffs got the ball first and drove down the field for another TD and a 21-0 lead. The teams just traded possessions for the rest of the game and Colorado was able to maintain their lead and hold onto a 21-0 victory.

Player of the Game: CB Kevin Thomas - Thomas gets his first ever player of the game award for intercepting Ryan Leak 3 times as the entire secondary held him to 5/17, 89 yards, and 5 INTs.

Upcoming: The Rocky Mountain Showdown is up next. Colorado won big last year but this rivalry game with Colorado State is never an easy game.

Stanford Looks Sharp In Season Opener
Stanford open the season at Maryland and they gave Cardinal fans a taste for things to come. First time starter, Ben Wilson, threw only 10 completions, but only had 11 attempts which is over a 90% pass completion. He finished the day with 140 yards throwing and 2 TD's. Wilson also showed his running as he scored on the ground on an option play. Remound Wright picked up where he left off last season, Gaining 170 yards and 1 TD. Kelsey Young also busted out 45 yards on 8 attempts, with 1 TD and an impressive 20 yard run. Beau Nelson saw some playing time as well and connected on 3 of 4 passes for 36 yards. Kevin Sulton stole the show defensively leading the team in tackles with 5 and 2 INT's. Terrence McBride and James Vaughters picked INT's as well.
