#4 Oregon Survives scare against #14 Florida State
Penalties and a new cast of guys, namely the Quarterback for the Duck almost cost Oregon in the season opener!
The Ducks could not get out of their own way all game long as 9 Penalties for 95 yards either cost them big plays on offense of allowed the Seminoles to stay on the field.
Freshman QB, Chris Price, was 4-6 passing for 49 yards but it could have been for way more had not a 80 yard TD pass been called back for Holding. That Holding penalty was just one of many on the game for Oregon. The Duck rushing attack had a HUGE day, with Jeremy Carpenter leading the way with 181 yards and 2 scores on 18 carries. Oregon rushed 39 times for 352 yards and used 7 guys to carry the ball.
Defensively, the Ducks struggled getting the Seminoles off the field due to several roughing the passer penalties. FSU used a Jet Sweep on their 1st play to score from 79 yards out, as Michael McGee of FSU just out ran everyone. After that FSU only managed 56 yards on the ground for a total of 135 yards.
The Seminoles gave up a lot of yards but made Oregon work for everything they got as they Audible to what seemed to be the perfect defense for what Oregon was trying to do. Kudos to the coaching staff at FSU, they had their guys prepared and ready to play.
Up Next for Oregon is #5 Notre Dame who are opening their season with the Ducks. Notre Dame is led by SR, QB, Matt Edwards who is the early leader in the Heisman race this year!

The Trojans of USC travel to Chapel Hill to begin their reign under Coach Burgess. It is a a dark and rainy night. When asked about his debut as coach of the real USC, Burgess said "I am looking forward to this season and many more, but man, whoever was coach here before me really left some holes at certain positions." USC wins the toss and defers to the second half and UNC takes the ball. Starts the game with 3 passes and a first down and then breaks a long run for a TD. However, it was called back due to holding on the fullback and later had to punt. USC drives down the field with ease and then the true freshmen starting RB Hunter fumbles after making a catch, so UNC gets the ball near the Trojan -40 (the back up running back is a true frosh as well). On third and a long 7, the nickle corner back DeLuca has a one-handed pick-6 with 2:03 left in the first. USC forces a 3 and out, drives down the field, and throws a pick just outside the red zone. UNC RB breaks about 2 tackles and has a 65+ yard run down to the USC 5 to end the first quarter. UNC passes incomplete, fumbles, but picks it up, and then punches it in for the score to tie it up 7-7 with 6:34 left in the 2nd. USC picks up on first down via the Wild Trojan, tries a different play from the same formation and loses a couple, then RS Soph QB Smiley makes a bad read and throws a streak to RS JR WR Pittman in double coverage and Pittman somehow comes down with it for the score. 14-7 USC with 5:05 left in the 2nd. UNC has a couple first downs by both the run and pass, catches USC is man to man across the board, makes a good read and throws a fly, but USC's Guillory makes the big interception. USC carves up the UNC D with ease and Pittman catches his second touchdown of the game with 15 seconds left in the first half; UNC runs it one time and goes into halftime down 7-21.
USC receives the kickoff and goes 3 and out; UNC punts it right back by going 3 and out. Backup running back Burton caps the drive with a 3 yard touchdown run. 28-7 good guys with 3:09 left in the 3rd. UNC has still not got a first down this half and punts. USC RB Hunter breaks 100 yards in his first game and this could be the last drive for the Trojan starters. USC punts it into the endzone for a touchback (I have never got a good roll on this game). Going into the 4th it is USC 28 UNC 7. UNC QB shows shades of T.J. Yates by throwing two perfect sideline passes and throws a TD with 5:33 left and there goes the idea of putting the second-string in. 28-14 Trojans. The two freshmen backs are work horses; They drive the ball all the way down the field and USC knees it one time on the UNC -5 to end the game. USC wins 28-14.

there is just no chance for other conferences when they play the SEC. just dominated in the trenches and our new qb did not disappoint anyone throwing 5 TDs. also our true freshman RB got his first start and topped a 100 yards, not bad for his first college start. very young team on the offensive side but if this was a sample of how they are going to play all year, watch out for the LSU tigers. defense is a veteran group and should carry the majority of the load this season. good first win and look forward to the rest of the season.

    Tennessee Knocks Off the Longhorns
    [IMG]
This was a solid win to start the season for the Volunteers. Hopefully this win is a sign of bigger things to come for Tennessee. The scoring in this game would be started nearing the end of the first quarter on a field goal from Texas to give them three-point lead. In the second quarter, Christian Taylor would find Cory Broussard in the corner the end zone to put them up 10-0. Tennessee would respond back with a strong drive capped off on a run by Brandon Estes from 2 yards out to bring the Vols a bit closer. Nearing half the Longhorns will manage to get another field goal from 25 yards to make the score at halftime 13-7 Texas still in the lead. In the third quarter, Tennessee's defense would keep the Longhorns off the scoreboard and allow Tennessee to get back in the game. They would get a field goal from Coleman. Then Jenkins would find Adrian Wilson streaking across the middle for a touchdown to give the Volunteers a 17-13 lead at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Tennessee would add to their lead with a run this time 1 yard out by Estes his second score of the game. Texas would try to mount a comeback they would have a solid drive and score touchdown on a run by Anthony McCarthy. This would bring them closer this score make it 24-21. The Longhorns would get the ball back. They would drive down the field, to attempt a 48 yard field-goal. Which missed wide right.

    Final Score:

    Tennessee volunteers 24

    Texas Longhorns 21

Alabama Pulls Away Despite Slow Start
    [IMG]

Coach Fransisco knew coming into this season, he would have to rely heavily on his defense and passing game to win this season. Early on in Lansing, that strategy was looking rather bleak. The Spartan offense looked unstoppable on their opening drive of 11 plays that went 80 yards in less then a minute and a half. The Tide offense's first play from scrimmage couldnt have been worse as Isiah Ellison (19 of 27, 361 yards, 3 TDs, 3 INTs) threw one of his three first half interceptions. The defense would hold strong though and force the Spartans to a three and out. The Tides offense still couldnt get anything rolling on their second drive going three and out. After a great punt and a clipping penalty forced the Spartans to start their third drive at their own 7 yard line, it didnt take long for them to add to their lead. On the next play from scrimmage the Spartans went 93 yards on one play and were quickly up 14-0. On their next drive, the Tide offense finally got rolling. Ellison would connect with Adam Kennedy (9 rec, 198 yards, 3 TDs) for a 12 yard pitch and catch for a score.

The second quarter was full of great defense as the Tide would throw two more interceptions. The Tide defense would also come up big as they forced a fumble late in the 2nd quarter that would translate into three points for the Tide. Michigan State would go into half time with a 14-10 lead.

Before heading into the locker room, Coach Fransisco promised change in the 2nd half, and he didnt disappoint. The Tide defense held the Spartan offense to just 73 yards of total offense in the 2nd half. The Tide offense would also continue to add to their lead as they looked to their two start half backs to help take over the game. Late in the 3rd quarter Jesse Johnson (8 car, 41 yards, 1 TD) would put the tide up with a shifty 19 yard scoring scamper and from that point the Tide never looked back.

Up next for the Tide is their first home game of the season as the Hawaii Warriors come to town for their first ever meeting with Alabama.

Well we win over ND we pouned them early then got everyone involved the score is very deceptive it was not close. My New Starting QB struggled throwing 2 picks but everything else was like clock work. Defense was great.

Utah Starts of Season with a Victory over Florida 35-21
    Untitled.png
The Utes started of the season with a victory over the Florida Gators on Saturday. After much criticism for not naming a starting quarterback until a few days before this game, Coach Wayers named Travis Jackson the starter and it paid off. Jackson had a very good game going 16 of 28 for 312 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. " I was able to get into a rhythm early and I was able to maintain it all game", Jackson said. The Utes started of the scoring first by a 17 yard rush by Jeff Brooks to make the score 7-0. Florida would answer right back though with a 13 yard TD pass by Leon Wade. On the next drive for Utah, junior receiver Ricky Watkins would break a tackle the take a pass 85 yards for a touchdown. The game would back and forth through the second and third quarter, but Utah would prove to be too much for the Gators and pull away in the end. 'Anytime you start the season off with a win you set yourself up for good things, now we just have to capitalize on those things", Coach Wayers said after the game.

The score doesn't show it but this was a much closer game than anticipated. The Rams came to play and made life tough but Colorado made enough big plays in the first half to make it look like a blowout. The big plays continued in the 2nd half as Colorado was able to go on to win.
Player of the Game: WR Anthony Patrick - 2 long TD passes and a kickoff return for a TD.
Upcoming: Colorado plays host to former Big 12 rival Texas. The Longhorns lost their first game to Tennessee and will be looking for the first win of the season in Boulder.

Was a struggle to stop making mistakes at South Carolina we had 11 penalties for 115 yards to go with a couple of turnovers. We were able to get a couple of big plays out of the ground game and were able to get a couple of turnovers ourselves and then SC started to make some mistakes including a roughing the passer that gave us a huge first down and a holding call that cost them a td.

UGA is able to win this one 35-28.

I will add a picture in the am, the story isnt up yet and I am to beat to wait for it.
