Rubin kept up the pressure at the top with another win, albeit somewhat unconvincing. Palermo frustrated the russians with dogged defending and a long ball strategy that the home side negotiated easily.
The winning goal came from a poor short goal kick pass that Martins put away, and Valdez had an identical chance but hit the post. Rubin had several chances to make it a more comfortable win but left their shooting boots at home.

Very strong played defensive game by the french side Stade Rennes. Still early in the campaign, Rennes thought to be down early when a shot rang off the post. But the French led a quick counter attack which saw Kembo-Ekoko getting taking down near the opposing penalty stipe and J. Feret converting the early PK. Isaac Oyer did not let this satisfy him continuing to put on offensive pressure which saw a pretty pass from Jonathon Pitroipa to Montano at the top of the box. With a quick turn and a shot off the post, Stade Rennes was quickly up 2 to nil. danwin would not let that stop him though. Athletic club put some pressure of their own on with a speculative effort from outside of the 18 yard box that went off the crossbar in the 28th minute. The rest of the half went by without any more events. The 2nd half started with Athletic Club putting on constant pressure on Stade Rennes. But the Man of the Match and goalie up the Frenchmen would not let his side down with a couple of spectacular saves. Stade Rennes went into a shell and ended the game with a clean sheet. A very hard fought match by danwin.

A constant downpour in Los Angeles made for very sloopy conditions when redwings8831 and the LA Galaxy welcomed Isaac Oyer and Stade Rennes. For most of the first half, play went back and forth pretty quick with Landon Donovan taking advantage of some space outside and driving home the ball near post against the Rennes goalkeeper. In the 30', Stade Rennes took a quick throw in which led to a corner. J. Kembo-Ekoko sent in a create ball from the corner flag which the big central defender J. Kana-Biyik headed home for his first goal of the season. Costil, the Stade Rennes goalkeeper, kept his team in the game surviving an onslaught right before the halftime whistle. The go ahead goal came early in the first half when J. Pitroipa and Montano had a nice give and go in the attacking third with a rocket from atop the 18 getting past Saunders. Costil came up big again in the last 5 minutes of the game keeping Stade Rennes ahead by 1. redwings8831 might have thought that he deserved a goal at the end there but the defense of Stade Rennes held strong.

Summary:A wide-open affair in England late tonight as Everton was able to nab 2 early goals against West Ham, then was able to keep the lead for the game's final 65 minutes.

The match's first goal came when Steven Pienaar blasted a shot form the right side which ricocheted off the left post behind the diving keeper Green. Fortunately for the Toffees, the diminutive forward's momentum carried him forward right into the line of the rebound for the easy tap-in goal and 1-0 lead.

West Ham wasted no time to seize the equalizer. A long ball clearance was perfectly placed through and over Everton's defense so that Noble could run under it and then cooly slot the ball past a helpless Tim Howard. Game on.

It was another lucky bounce which created the game's final goal. Jelavic was attacking the box with the ball when Tomkins deftly nudged the ball away from him. But the ball rolled into an open area in front of Tim Cahill who was running into that space. He left-footed a shot past a stunned Green's right hand for the go-ahead goal.

Everton dominated the shot total from there, but only one shot hit the post from there on out. On a West Ham corner, McCartney bulled forward with a full head of steam for what looked to be a menacing shot, but replays confirmed that Fellaini froze and had the ball bounce of his head and off the crossbar. He made up for his near-gaffe by clearing the rebound before any further heart attack's by his manager.

Really was a wide open match. Just not a ton of speed to punish on the counter attack. Fun as always to play you Bling. Will do... fire keeps getting closer.

Everton rolled down to the Continent to visit Southern Germany for an epic clash with bitter rivals Stuttgart Monday night. While the two teams had never met face-to-face, the managers were very familiar with each other; in their last meeting, Frenchie defeated Geneseo98 when he was at the helm of Galatasaray in what was a deciding match that should have kept the Turkish side in Serie C. What resulted this time around was one of the most even, fair and balanced matches possible. The game was free of fouls, much less cards. The home side struck first on a picture-perfect cross between striking partners, and then tried desperately to hang on for nearly 30 minutes. As the game went on, however, Everton increased the pressure, intercepting passes and moving their back line increasingly forward. With less than 10 minutes on the clock, the English side answered, with an equally delicious cross-header combination. A deflated Stuttgart side very nearly gave up all in the waning moments when the center backs allowed themselves to be split on a through ball, but Sven Ulreich played the one-on-one perfectly, waiting until the last second to come out and cut down the angle, preventing the go-ahead goal and saving a point.

This is James Tomkins' second yellow card. He will need to serve his suspension for his next game.

An unbelievable game between Athletic and L.A.! The two teams went to the half tied at 3, after Bilbao recovered from being down 3-1 at one point of the first half. In the second half each team managed a goal apiece to end in a 4-4 tie. Great game RedWings8831!

Cagliari traveled to the North to visit the Spaniards that have only managed to play a few games so far this season. Unlike last year where manager Go Devils might have challenged Athletico straight up and played a run and gun style, the Italian outfit chose to counter attack, defend Fernando Llorente with 2-3 players at a time and make it count offensively while holding on to the ball. 29 minutes in they were rewarded for their patience as Cossu took a pass inside the box from El Kabir dribbling through 4 Spanish defenders en route to the score. For nearly 60 minutes, both teams were unable to seize their chances properly until a long ball played into the box by Cossu was chested inadvertently by Aurtenetxe into his own net to make it 2-0. From there Cagliari parked the bus and held on tight for the remainder of the game. GG danwin. This game could have gone many different ways. That damn combination of Munian and Llorente is slick.
