Cards win 38-21 Larry Fitzgerald 8 receptions 253 yards 3 Td's The Arizona Cardinals decided to step out of their shell and trust Shaq Marshall to lead them to a victory. The plan was in doubt early as he threw a pick 6 in the redzone to give the Rams a 7-0 lead. From there he would continue with a 431 yard 4 TD performance. Larry Fitzgerald caught 3 of those and Kellen Winslow added the other.
Eagles defense steps up, Eagles win 33-13.Eagles went into Buffalo after 2 losses at home with the defense struggling and the offense not being able to find any rhythm. It looked like nothing had changed during the first half of the game. On offense, the Eagles struggled to convert on 3rd downs, but the Eagles defense did enough to hold the Bills to field goals. The Bills eventually went up 13-0, after CB Leodis McKelvin got at INT for a touchdown. This is where things would change for the Eagles, first with HB Delone Carter breaking through for a 57yd TD to give the Eagles the first score of the game on offense. When the Eagles went back on defense, they put the Bills on their one yard line for a punt, the punt was blocked for a safety, with the Eagles converting a FG to get the score to 12-13. Towards the end of the 1st half, the Eagles would have a chance to take a FG and a lead, or go for a TD and a bigger lead. Eagles went for the TD, but was intercepted. In the 2nd half, the Eagles found their rhythm, first with QB Matt Ryan finding Celek for a TD, and converting a 2pt conversion to take a 7 point lead. On defense the Eagles would continue to get stops as well as turnovers. The Bills would not score a point in the 2nd half, showing the Eagles that they have the players and coaches to play defense. "Our offense still struggled, we need to do a better job of converting 3rd downs and not turning the ball over". said Coach Cav. Eagles defense held the Bills to 49 yds rushing, and had the edge on 1st downs 16 to 10. Bills went 1-8 on 3rd down. Matt Ryan went 17 out of 29 for 235 yards, 1 TD and 3 INTS.Delone Carter had 162 yards and 1 TD on 23 carries.Brent Celek had 6 receptions for 134 yards and a TD.CB Antoine Cason had 3 picks, with Nnamdi having one. Giants Rally, Beat Pack in OTThe Giants trailed 17-2 early, but mounted a comeback to beat Green Bay in OT Green Bay, WI - The Giants and Packers met at the cherished Lambeau Field to battle in this weeks prime time game of the week. Both teams posted 2-0 records and neither wanted to walk off the field with a loss. Fortunately for the Giants, they flew back to the Big Apple with no blemish on their season. The Pack would receive the opening kickoff and did not take long to find pay dirt. With a drive that consisted of 4 receptions by Greg Jennings, Green Bay found the endzone as the 4th Jennings reception put them up 7-0 to start. New York struggled to find anything on offense and on their first possession, Giants fans had memories of the previous seasons as Boals threw an ill-advised pass that would be picked off, allowing Green Bay to tack on 3 points after a Crosby 25 yard FG before the end of the first. New York yet again could not find anything to work and would be forced to punt. Tim Masthay's punt would be placed perfectly as it rolled out of bounds at the 2 yard line, stuffing Green Bay in the shadow of their own endzone. The GMen took advantage and Haloti Ngata would fight off the offense line and sack Aaron Rodgers in the endzone for a safety, giving the Giants 2. That did not face the cheese heads as on their next possession, Rodgers made up for his mistake by finding Greg Jennings for an 88 yard TD, putting Green Bay up 17-2 early. Yet, before the half could come to a close, the Giants mounted a scoring drive of their own, capping it off with a 2 yard strike from Boals to Bryan Anthony. The two teams would head to the locker room with Green Bay in front 17-9. The 3rd quarter would be all defense as neither team could score any points, but in the 4th, Big Blue took over. With a little over 3 minutes to play, Boals found rookie TE AJ Schwenke for a 12 yard strike; tacking on the 2 point conversion the game would be knotted up a 17. On the ensuing drive, Aaron Rodgers would throw his first interception of the season as S Chris Conte jumped the route and gave New York the chance to end the game. They were able to grab the lead as Boals found WR Harrington from 13 yards out with a little over 1 minute left and Green Bay with only 1 timeout remaining. That was plenty of time for Rodgers. With 12 seconds left, Aaron Rodgers heaved up a prayer that would be brought down by WR Jessie to tie the game at 24, forcing overtime. New York won the toss and on the very first play, HB Corey Mays broke one open to put the GMen on Green bay's half of the field. HB Ahmad Bradshaw did the rest as he pounded the rock into the endzone, giving Big Blue the 30-24 comeback victory over the Green Bay Packers.
New Meadowlands- In a battle to gain the divisional lead in a very competitive conference, The Jets (1-1) welcomed the Patriots (2-0) to New York. Both teams would trade scores the first half as neither defense put up much resistance. The Jets would score first on an 18 pass and catch from Stafford to Keller set up by an int from OLB Will Witherspoon. That lead would be short lived as NE would tie the game on a long td pass from Boone to Barksdale to tie the game at 7 after 1.
The next quarter was pretty much the same as both teams would trade a pair of scores to go into halftime tied at 21 apiece. Jumping to the fourth quarter, trailing 24-21, The Jets needed a score with time running thin. Relying heavily on HB Octviuos Hardy, The Jets would drive down the field and get a score to go up 28-24 with a little over 6 minutes remaining in the game. On Ne's very next possession, OLB Will witherspoon would strike again, forcing an int from Boone to put the Jets in perfect position to ice the game. But the Patriot defense would stiffen, only allowing the Jet offense to get a few yards before forcing a long field goal attempt of about 50 yds. The Jets now led 31-24 with a little over 2 min remaining. This would prove to ample time for the Patriots and Mr. Boone. The NE offense would methodically drive down the field and get to the Jet 6 yd line with seconds remaining. On a third and goal play, Boone would be sacked by OLB Tom Whitney, forcing a fourth and goal from the 12. With just 6 sec to go, NE would have to pass, and Boone found a slashing WR across the middle, but the Jet defender would come up and make a game sealing tackle as time expired. Final Score 31-24.
Great Game, Hal!
49ers Get 1st Win of New Season SEATTLE - The 49ers went on the road and topped the Seahawks 28-13 behind the running of Rookie HB Devonta' Monroe who tallied 193 yards on 23 carries and scored all four touchdowns. It has become apparent that Monroe will replace Frank Gore in the two-headed HB attack of SF. Jamaal Gibson led the SF defense with 5 Tackles, 3 sacks and 1 FF. Seattle QB A. C. Jackson threw for 280 yards and 1 TD; however, most of this yardage came late in the game when the outcome was not in issue. SF limited the Seahawks to just 31 yards rushing.
