    Quarterfinals Preview

FINALLY, a Coppa Tradizione preview! Sorry for not getting the Round of 16 preview posted and getting this one in a bit late, but better late than never! With 2 of the 4 quarterfinals matches already played however, this will only be a partial preview containing the 2 lone remaining matches.

    hokie79 (1st in Serie B, 10-2-3; Cup Results: W 3-1 vs. Athletic Club, W 4-0 vs. Swansea City, D 1-1 vs. VfB Stuttgart, W 4-2 vs. PSV Eindhoven)
    CxMacx10 (T-1st in Serie A, 8-3-2; Cup Results: W 4-0 vs. Genoa, W 4-1 vs. Lokomotiv Moscow, W 4-1 vs. Bordeaux, W 5-0 vs. Celtic)
We have a battle of first-placed teams in this quarterfinals matchup. Marseille is first in Serie B and is also currently in the Final of the TSO-Premier Open Cup. The dynamic duo of Ayew and Remy has propelled Marseille to strong results in all competitions this season. In the Coppa alone, Ayew has 5 goals and 2 MOTMs, while Remy has 4 goals and leads the club with 3 assists. Marseille even showed its strength against a Serie A side in the qualification round, routing Swansea City 4-0. But West Ham is a completely different animal. The Hammers sit tied for first in Serie A and have also sported the stingiest defense in Serie A at 1.38 goals allowed per game. Marseille allows less than a goal a game in Serie B, but West Ham complements their defensive prowess will a high number of goals on offense. In Coppa play, West Ham has looked like a juggernaut. They've outscored opponents 17-2 in 4 matches, and won't be looking to slow down here.
    Prediction: West Ham 2-0

    Zikry (T-1st in Serie A, 8-3-4; Cup Results: W 2-0 vs. Atl. Mineiro, D 3-3 vs. Montpellier, W 2-0 vs. Hamburger SV, W 3-1 vs. Stoke City)
    juanchoCT14 (3rd Serie B, 7-6-0; Cup Results: W 3-1 vs. Parma, W 3-0 vs. Dinamo Moscow, D 2-2 vs. Sunderland, W 3-0 vs. VfL Wolfsburg)
Sao Paulo is looking good in league play, sitting tied with West Ham for first in Serie A. Along with a TSO-Premier Open Cup Final appearance, Sao Paulo is looking sharp in all competitions. And we haven't even begun discussing the real strength of the "Coppa King." Another Coppa, and another Coppa run appears to be on the horizon. Behind Luis Fabiano, Sao Paulo sports a strong midfield led by Lucas, Ganso, and Jadson. Any of them are destined for a breakout in any given game, providing Sao Paulo with a lethal attack. Rogerio Ceni has done well in net, and while the weakness of Brazilian clubs is often the backline, Sao Paulo has been sure to limit goals as they are 2nd in goals allowed per game in Serie A. But don't sleep on Stade Rennais. The French club is the only club in all of Serie that remains undefeated in all competitions. Stade Rennais has 10 wins and 7 draws in 17 matches, yet that first loss may be looming in the Coppa Tradizione soon. Stade Rennais' best player in the Coppa so far has been J. Feret. Feret leads the Coppa with 6 assists, and was involved in all 3 goals in the club's 3-0 win over VfL Wolfsburg in the Round of 16. Stade Rennais really doesn't know how to lose, and don't be surprised if they force this one into extra time.
    Prediction: Sao Paulo 3-2
