Every season, we find it challenging to crown the most valuable rookies. Well this season, better late than never, I've decided it is time to watch the rookies progression throughout the season. Every week I will provide you with my own performers of the week, as well as keep a running standing in this post of the top performers. Hopefully at seasons end, it will provide with a more accurate means to help everyone determine the outstanding new comer to HK. XFN gives us rookie statistics, but they don't give meaning behind what players help their team the most. That is what this will be.

Week 1 - Top Rookie Performers

HB Lache Hall - 20 Atts 141 YDs 2 TDs

After their week 1 beating of the Dallas Cowboys, the Carolina Panthers and coach BobJr look to be back on track to make another run at the Super Bowl. Rookie HB Lache Hall comes in to replace the let down king himself, AP, whom ultimately caused the Panthers a HK Championship. Against a usually stout Cowboys defense, Hall was able to rush for over 140 yards on 20 carries and tack on 2 touchdowns, vaulting him to an early lead in the ROTY race.

DT Shyquawn Carrothers - 5 TKLs, 4 Sacks, 2 FFs
    [IMG]
The New Orleans Saints Rookie DT Carrothers set himself apart from the rest of the defensive rookies, in an amazing first game on the field. Taking on the Giants with new QB Anthony Anderson, the defense went balls to the wall to interrupt his opening game, and Carrothers capitalized on a new offense. 4 sacks is not something you see from NFL vets in one game, neither is 2 forced fumbles. Carrothers did both.

I appreciate you liking it, but you don't have to say it twice. ;)

To be honest, I was kind of hoping this would spur someone to do a MVP type thing similar to this...

Here he is again. Lache Hall continues to distance himself from the rest of the offensive rookies with another 100+ yard performance, in the loss to Seattle.
DT Armani Waters - 3 Tackles, 3 Sacks

3 tackles, 3 sacks. 100% efficiency. That is a pretty good percentage rating for a rookie defensive tackle in the Rams win over San Francisco.

You can add rookie QB Spencer Hargrett if you want, he has assumed starter role now

    QB Erik Mahan - 24/30 222 YDs 3 TDs
    [IMG]
The Minnesota Vikings welcome a new coaching staff and a new QB under center. Erik Mahan proved he belongs in the NFL and with a GOOD coaching staff, these Vikings could go far with an effective QB. Thrashing the Saints for 3 TDs and 22 Yards while only throwing 6 incomplete passes, is a hell of a start.
DE Stan Jurado - 4 Tackles, 3 Sacks
    [IMG]
Even with a jackass hair style implementation by head coach Neurotic, DE Stan Jurado took care of business for the Chargers by sacking QB CJ Keller 3 times in the Chargers victory over the Jaguars. Hopefully with this new defensive look, the Chargers can make a run at the postseason.
