    Week 1:
    Matchday 1:
Matchday 1 started off with a nail biter, as Corinthians and Marseille started and played a nail biter. On paper, this game was favored to be a sure win for Corinthians as they out shot Marseille 11 to 5 of which on target were 7 to 1, so just looking at that it would seem at least a 2-0 win for Corinthians. No, they had to put in a 90th minute goal just to pull out a 1-0 win. Some good goal keeping on Marseille and 'stout' defense lead to a hard fought match but Marseille just couldn't find themselves putting a foot on the ball to make Corinthians keeper work.
Next, Atl. Mineiro would take on Ajax. This game started off on fire with 2 goals within the 20th minute of the match. Unfortunately, that was the final score 1-1. This game shifted quickly from offense to defense as neither team could find a good shot.
The third match of the week saw an 88th minute disconnect in which PSV had a 1-0 lead over Fluminense, the coaches decided to call this game as was and PSV took the 3 points and ran.
Finally in matchday 1, we saw the dreaded slump that ATOC has been in. This slump lead to a 1-0 win over Stoke City. In a game that saw a combined 31 shots or 0.34444 shots a minute of which 58% of the shots were on target. This game was very offensive but obviously had some defense in it to not have the score be 5-4. The lone score was in the 21st minute.
Matchday 1 saw 3 1-0 wins and a 1-1 draw with 2 games left unaccounted for at the time of this post.
    Matchday 2:
Matchday 2 had a more scoring than matchday 1 but started off with a 1-1 draw as Ajax and Corinthians squared off. Corinthians fresh off a 1-0 win would travel to Ajax who is off a 1-1 draw. Again on stats Corinthians would appear to take over the game but for some reason just can't finish. Ajax would control the ball more but not get off near the attempts as Corinthians did and in the 88th minute Ajax would appear to take the 1-0 win as all they had to do was hold off for a few more minutes. Corinthians would once again respond as they would put in another 90th minute miracle to take the 1 point and move on.
PSV, fresh off a 1-0 win in 88 minutes, would face Mariselle, who is fresh off a heartbreaker in the 90th minute. I seriously hope what I am looking at is a typo, as it appears PSV puts up 29 shots? That's a lot of shots, what'd we do dribble and shoot? Anyways, this game's scoring was all in the first 45 minutes as PSV would put in 2 goals and Marseille only 1. PSV who saw a domination in shots but could only put in 6.8% over there shots in the net.
VfL Wolfsburg and Atl. Mineiro would see each other in this match. This game was very even, as both teams seemed to be playing even to each other. Wolfsburg struggled to put their shots close to the net as only 1 shot out of 9 was on target, whereas Atl. Mineiro saw 7 of their 9 shots on target. The match had no scoring until the 87th minute attack by Diego Tardelli that opened up Jo and he wouldn't let this one slip and he would bang it in the back of the net.
Saint-Etienne would come into the match vs Fluminense and this game was a complete domination on Saint-Etienne's part as they have Fluminense beat in every stat on the sheet. Both teams were efficient with their shots, Saint-Etienne saw goals in the 20th, 23rd and 25th minute of the match and would appear to put on the brakes a little or Fluminense found a way to stop them. Although they did find one more goal in the 56th minute to put it away.
    Matchday 3:
Matchday 3 opened with Corinthians and PSV. This match had a lot of shot attempts for both teams, PSV could not find a good shot as they only had 4 of their 13 being on target whereas Corinthians would see 8 of their 11. Corinthians after 2 matches with 90th minute goal would look to score early as they would get a 29th minute goal and also in the 86th minute to cap it off. PSV would put up a fight with some good counters and a couple of chances but could not capitalize them.
Saint-Etienne and Mariselle would play and again it looked to be dominated by Saint-Etienne again as he would win every stat yet again. Efficient yet again was Saint-Etienne as they put 10 of their 17 shots on target. The scoring came in the 2nd half and within 10 minutes of each other as it would give Saint-Etienne a 2 goal win.
Atl. Mineiro and Ein Frankfurt was a crazy game as Mineiro started off with a bang and got a good goal in the 13th minute as Jo found the back of the net. Ein Frankfurt would quickly counter that goal though and take over the match as they would score in the 22nd minute and again in the 69th minute. Mineiro was not finding anything until they patiently waited for the right moment and that just happened as Tardelli found the back of the net in the 84th minute to tie it up.
Fluminese and Stuttgart would face each other and Stuttgart would take off quickly with 2 goals in the first half of the match and go into halftime with a 2-0 lead. They appear to have went defensive and went really soft as they quickly gave up a goal in the 51st minute. Stuttgart would then go back to normal and played well until a very late mistake lead to an 87th minute penalty kick for Fluminese and that would tie up the match.
The final match in week 1 saw a ton of shots for Stoke City but Hamburg would take advantage of their few shots and put in 2 goals on 8 shots with 50% of them on target. Where Stoke saw 20 shots and only 8 on target, 40% of shots. Adler saw a lot of action at goalie but played extremely well and put away a 2-0 win.
    Review
After week 1 we saw 6 teams play all 3 games and Saint-Etienne dominance with securing all 9 points and Corinthians would catch 7 points, with PSV and Mineiro at 6 and 5. After week 1 it would show that Corinthians and Saint-Etienne would be the early favorites as they have dominated the stats as well with A. Pato of Corinthians leading goals with 4 and M. Gradel of Saint-Etienne with 3. R. Augusto of Corinthians has 2 assists and R. Hamouma of Saint-Etienne along with C.Gentner of VfB Stuttgart all have 2 assists. 4 teams have just played 1 game so all this could shake up when those results come in but for not it appears Saint-Etienne (another target for you) and Corinthians are the two favorites

Week 2 will be coming either late tomorrow or sometime during the day on Wednesday

This week's edition will probably be a little different with more of a team by team feel for it rather than a game by game. Each game will still be recognized but it'll be more about the teams.

A couple ideas for the future:
    • a google form for post game interview type deal (such as, how do you feel you played this game today?) in which you could reply after each game and we can go from there
    • a more personal interview that we do throughout the week
feel free to give feedback on these ideas and even the switch to the focus on teams instead of games, I guess what I mean is I'll be putting Atl. Mineiro's 3 games in one summary instead of a game by game summary (something we should be doing in our posts for each game anyways) also to stay with the game postings, a review of the game really does help with this (doesn't have to be as extensive as frenchie does, although bravo those do help, something simple saying how the game went, what type of match it was, so on and so on).

I like the switch to a team by team focus. I really do hope everyone in B starts posting summaries of the game. Doesn't have to be much, just a couple of sentences on how the game went.

On top of doing the summary of the game on our Club Pages, you would also like a brief recap when we post the result as well?

    Week 2 Edition
    [IMG]
Saint-Etienne finishes week 2 with all 3 games played, bringing the total to all 6 for the season. With 6 games in they are currently number 1 in Serie B with 15 points. Saint Etienne has 5 wins and 1 loss. In week 2, Saint Etienne would seek it's first loss in a 'lucky win for Corinthians'. With 5 wins this team is sitting at the top of a very exciting and interesting season in Serie B. Saint-Etienne plays a great balanced attack with a good balance of scorers, which is quite a different theme for the top 3 in serie B (more to come). Saint-Etienne would wrap up the week with a pure domination on PSV and then follows up with a hard fought game versus a struggling Stuttgart. All in all ASSE pulls in another great week and keeps the top spot.
Atl. Mineiro comes in the week lagging a little behind with 1 win and 2 ties, they finish the week with a clean sweep and now number 2 on the list. Atl. Mineiro would be tested in Matchday 4 when they faced Stoke City. They were out shot and really out played for the most part, the only exception being that Mineiro was more efficient with shots and capped one later in the game to grab the 3 points. Mineiro would then see the rise of JO as he would lead his team in the next two matches to a total of 7-3 and Jo would cap 4 of those goals and both MoTM awards. All seems to be going well here.
Hamburg would turn in a great performance this week with 2 wins and a tie bringing him to third on the charts. Hamburg would face a struggle of a match vs Fluminense but were able to squeeze in a 13 minute goal and a penalty goal to win 2-0 and take the 3 points. Hamburg would slip up in it's tie versus Marseille as they would have won the match if it weren't for the early own goal scored. Without the mistake Hamburg would be sitting tied for 1st and a clean sweep. Hamburg would then wrap up with a good win versus an aggressive team in PSV. Hamburg has a few scorers and possess a feared team right now.
Corinthians, the earlier coined 'last minute miracle team', still has some of that magic as they were able to cap an 88th minute goal versus the number 1 team and give them their first loss. Whatever the magic it is, was whitewashed when they played Wolfsburg as they were shutout and gave up an early 2 minute goal to make things worse. This is a strong team and at one point was in the top three, absolutely can't sleep on them as they have the team and the owner to make a run. Speaking of the team, they have A. Pato who is only behind the red hot JO in scores so far this season. Pato was in the lead at one point as well and look for him to make a run at being the goal leader.
Ajax has finished all 6 games so far, they possess a 2-2-2 record, fairly consistent. Ajax would face Frankfurt first as they played a well match and would really control the match with possession and more shots, just happens that they fell short and couldn't capitalize on a lot of shots. They had the opportunity just fell short. Next match Ajax would yet again control the possession and the tempo of the match. This time they were out-shot but a near perfect 5/6 shots on target gave them 2 goals out of it. Very efficient effort there. This team may be a threat if they can keep that formula. Ajax would then play Fluminense and would give up the first half goal but turn it around in the 2nd half as they posted 4 goals. All in all Ajax is a team that could possess a threat as they have great ball movement and a good finisher.
PSV is a struggling team but possess a scary talent, speed and fast paced movement. The team for the week with 0-2-1 but are always in the match and always put up their fair amount of shots. PSV was rather handled pretty easy for ASSE, PSV would play a good match vs Hamburg and fall short by a goal but managed to get back to their plenty of shots. PSV would then end their week in a tie vs Stuttgart. PSV is not in form right now, but with a good week and some confidence flowing they put up a lot amount of shots to get something to fall eventually.
Ein Frankfurt only has 4 matches played at this point but 7 points. For the week Ein Frankfurt would only have 1 game finished in which it was a win vs Ajax in a game that they were out played, statistically. Although some great defense and some good shots to capitalize on a few shots would give them the 2-1 finish. Frankfurt has a good finisher but with only 1 game this week played not much to really talk about here. This team just knows how to finish matches they play and find ways to get points.
Wolfsburg is another team that there isn't much to know or talk about as they only have 3 matches played all season, due to off field priorities. They were able to play 1 game this week and it was a match vs Corinthians. Corinthians is a feared team late in the game and wolfsburg must have known this as they scored early and scored often with a 4 0 win. This match appeared to be dominated by Wolfsburg in all stats. More info to come when available.
Marseille has all 6 matches played but fall towards the bottom with 4 points. Although a sign of hope exists as they scored all 4 points this week and look to be playing better. They had a win vs Stuttgart in a hard fought match that only a 6 minute score was the difference in the match. Some good defensive tactics lead to a shutout and 3 points. Marseille would then play the current number 2 and number 3 team in the serie and manage to get a point out of Hamburg although it may have been a little help from Hamburg's own goal. Marseille would then slip up to a strong Atl. Mineiro team but would put up a perfect 100% shot accuracy. That will help you win some games. A team that seems to be getting stronger will look to make some moves here in the back half of serie B.
Stuttgart is a polished member in TFS and in Serie B. He is a great manager that is in a bit of a slump right now. With 5 games played and only 2 points to show for is speaking wonders and saying he is slipping a bit. Stuttgart for the week had 2 ties and a loss. Stuttgart is looking for answers and will surely pull it around, after 2 weeks they are flirting with being in the bottom 2 and facing demotion, although we still have plenty of ball left to even be concerned with that. My guesses are Stuttgart will turn it around soon and find some points.
Fluminense has played all 6 games so far but only have 1 point. There is a lot going wrong here in Fluminense and the fact that they have a goal differentiation of -12 and giving up the most goals in the league with 16 and only scoring 4. Those stats speak a lot and it appears they have a lot of work to do. This week did not help as they played 3 tough opponents with Atl. Mineiro and Hamburg followed by a tough Ajax team. Hopefully they can fix some things and come out strong this week.
Stoke City has played 4 matches and yet to record a point. Stoke has only played 2 matches this week and one of which being the number 2 team Atl. Mineiro and then played Ajax. They have also yet to score a goal in the season. They have a decent defense just can't find the net. If this changes this team could change some things on the board. For now though they can't win without a goal unless they plan on getting 1 point after 1 point with ties at 0-0.

    Week 3
    [IMG]
Well, he still remains number 1. Need we say more? He was facing a hard part of his schedule as he had to play the two that are currently tied for 2nd. In the first match vs Hamburg they were able to escape a 1-0 win and deliver Hamburg their first loss on the season. Statistically it was a very tight game that appeared could have gone Hamburg's way but was not their day as ASSE would cap a goal in the 35th minute. This may have been the first game in which ASSE did not take control of the possession stat. Surprising but yet still a win in the end. Next match they would get Atl. Mineiro, let's just say it wasn't a match as Atl Mineiro looked like a lost puppy trying to find home and ASSE would end up with an easy 3-0 win. At this point, it would appear the target on ASSE's back is getting bigger with some of his off-field comments.
Hamburg has played all 7 games that he could play (8th was a drop) and he currently sits in a tie with Mineiro with 14 points. As stated above Hamburg would get ASSE in the first matchday of the week, they would put up a tremendous effort but fall short. Hamburg had the stats and was the first to beat ASSE in possession (or so i think). It was a tough loss indeed but they would bounce back and play Stuttgart in the 2nd matchday of the week. This game was no walk in the park either as it took a 64 minute goal to win it in a game that statistically Stuttgart had control. Hamburg does it in a quiet fashion and will look to take 2nd by himself this week.
Atl. Mineiro at the start of the week was on fire and playing really well, all that changed when they played ASSE, but this was the 2nd matchday of the week. The first matchday of the week was vs a dangerous PSV team. In which PSV would get their shots off yet again, this team possesses the ability to run and has a user that knows how to run with them. They tested the back line this week and it held up, for the most part. The match came down to an 88th minute goal from Atl. Mineiro in which was sure to hold for the match and win. Unfortunately for Atl. they gave up a 90th minute goal to take a draw. In the end we were outplayed so we will take a draw. Next matchday vs ASSE, can we just say this match wasn't played? deal!. Cause this put Atl. Mineiro in their place, ASSE is a great team and just completely outplayed Mineiro. This match has formed a new Mineiro team with new formation more to come.
Still sitting outside the top 3 is Corinthians, their game total is up to 6 out of a total 7. Their only match played this week, so far, was vs Stoke City in which resulted in a 1-1 draw. It was a game that statistically Stoke City had a dominant performance but Corinthians was able to squeak out a goal. Corinthians is a team that is still trying to ride the early hot streak they had this season. They have certainly cooled off but still possess a threat to Serie B.
Last week I called them a feared team, they provided with some firepower this week forcing a draw vs Atl. Mineiro and then beating Ajax 4-2. In both matches they shot for a combined 48 shots with 28 of them on target. They put up a TON of shots, they play a fast paced game in which allows them to get those shots without ever controlling possession. A team that likes to use speed and it shows, they are still dangerous and are now starting to make moves. We'll see what this week brings to conclude the end of the first half.
Wolfsburg for the week has only played 1 game in which resulted in a 2-1 win over fluminense. In which no stats are found at this time. Wolfsburg is in a good position to make some moves in the 2nd half of the season, only time will tell though.
Ajax drops a couple of spots this week and this may be due to just playing 1 of their matches this week, either way they lost to a strong PSV team. This game was talked about above. For Ajax they still have a couple of games to catch up on that leave them behind and for some valuable points. In the game they lost this week they showed a dominance in controlling the ball which will help them get some wins under their belt and grab more points.
Possibly the move of the week in Serie B, from last and 0 points to this week and 5 points. 1 of which came from this week and the others came from postponed matches. The game for the week was a tie to a top 5 team in Serie B, Corinthians. Stoke City looks to be improving a lot, they had a statistical dominance playing Corinthians but failed to capitalize more than 1 opportunity to grab a win. If they keep making moves they could avoid going back to Serie C.
Marseille has yet to record a game this week, so nothing new to report here as they have played the same number of games as last week when last weeks was published. Hopefully more to come next week when they have more games played.
Stuttgart has played 1 game this week and it was a great showing for them although it was a loss, they played number 2 Hamburg in a 1-0 loss. The defense is there but they are not finding the chances to score. When they only had 1 shot on target, their defense will keep them in games although they need to find some striker to put some goals on the board. Stuttgart will need to make some changes to give themselves more opportunities to score, they are getting shots just not efficient shots.
Wrapping up the bottom of Serie B is Fluminense. They have played 7 games and record only 1 point. They need to make some moves much like Stoke City and challenge Stuttgart to avoid going back to Serie C. Their goal difference is to -13, more focus needs to go to defending to control the game a little bit. A huge learning process is coming and with the first half of the season almost over they can still make some changes and pull it off.
