The season opener for both teams played out in dramatic fashion. The visitin Greeks got on the board first with a beautiful combination play from Djebbour and Maniatis, who slammed home a perfect cutback to open the scoring. The Germans would answer quickly, as a controversial turnover would lead to a penalty given, and de Jong would slot it home. Gladbach opened the 2nd half with some good possession, and Patrick Hermann would put the home side up 2-1. A tactical decision to go more defensive would end up haunting manager Selvy, though, as Olympiakos would find the equalizer in the 83rd. Marc-André ter Stegen would attempt some heroics, and was able to beat away the initial shot, but the rebound fell kindly to Maniatis, whose header was just able to creep over the line before a Gladbach defender could reach it. One last glimpse at a winner for BMG would rocket off the woodwork, and the two sides would each earn a hard fought point.

Sporting Lisbon traveled to Russia for their first Serie C game under WingedHelmet Thursday morning, and despite a shaky first 15 minutes, returned home with a 3-0 victory. Striker Zakaria Labyad opened the scoring in the 18th minute following a crunching tackle by (motm) Fabian Rinaudo. Rinaudo quickly played the ball up the wing into space for Diego Capel, who crossed first time to Labyad for the header and a 1-0 lead.

Spartak Moscow had their best chance of the game two minutes later, taking the ball down the right side and crossing to a covered ST, who leaped over Sporting defender Marcos Rojo and headed the ball just wide. Five minutes later, Sporting converted a corner kick into 2-0 lead courtesy of Fabian Rinaudo, and the Portuguese side were rolling. A third and final header in the 58th minute, this time scored by Adrien, sealed the win and a 1-0 record heading into match day two.

Eric Dier (8.2), Stijn Schaars (8.2) Zakaria Labyad (8.4), Diego Capel (8.8), Adrien (9.5), Andre Carillo (9.5), and Fabian Rinaudo (9.8) each finished the game with a rating above 8.0 for Sporting Lisbon, while only Aiden McGeady (8.1) cracked the 8.0 barrier for Spartak Moscow. Striker Emmanuel Emenike had a particularly rough game, finishing with a 6.0 rating and failing to register a shot.

GG Brech. Sorry for accidentally "stealing" it a few times when you were coming out of your own zone, my guys just wouldn't back off. I got it out of bounds one time to give it back and the other 2 times just immediately turned it over, so I hope it's all good.

    S. Schaars (8.5)

Stijn Schaars received the ball from Adrien to the right of the penalty spot, turned his man, and found himself one on one with the GK. Taking his time as the shot-stopper charged, Schaars calmly slotted the ball past the keeper's outstretched fingertips. And hit the post. Ten minutes later (and following a near mirror image at the other end of the pitch), the situation repeated itself; this time Schaars didn't miss, scoring the game's only goal and giving Sporting a 2-0 record in Serie C.

Despite being outshot 10 to five (and six to one on goal), this game was contested until the final whistle. Atalanta carried play for the final half hour, much of their possession coming in the final third. Time and again their patience came close to paying off, only for Sporting defenders to make last ditch tackles. When they didn't, GK Rui Patricio was up to the task.

Of concern for the Portuguese side, striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel has been nearly invisible through two games. Rumors have been circulating that English club Norwich City have made a play for the talented Dutchman, perhaps explaining his run of poor form. Whatever the reason, van Wolfswinkel will have to get on track if Sporting can have any hope for success this season.

    MOTM- H. Nordtveit
Athletic Bilbao and Borussia M'gladbach met for the first time this year in a very heated and physical match. Much of the first 45 minutes was spent feeling each other out and the ball was frequently turned over by both sides at midfield. Early in the second half, however, the Spaniards came out firing. Los Leones striker Aduriz opened the scoring with back to back goals just 3 minutes apart. Anders Herrera was credited with the first assist, but Aduriz deserves all of the credit as he tore through the German club's back line and ripped a shot passed the keeper. The second goal came off of a nice through ball from Fernando Llorente and was tapped in just before the rushing keeper could get his body on it.
Immediately following the second goal, M'gladbach manager Selvy9 dug into his bench for forward Peniel Mlapa. Within just 1 minute of his arrival on the pitch, Mlapa sent a laser into net to bring the game to within one. After a Mikel San Jose yellow card, Mlapa put a free kick into the wall. Minutes later Mlapa found Luke de Jong for an easy goal to tie the game.
M'gladbach seemed guaranteed to take over the game and steal 3 points from Bilbao. Until Muniain gained a step on his man on the left side of the 18. Muniain sent the ball in where it found the head of Iturraspe. The initial shot beat the keeper but not the post, but Iturraspe snagged his own rebound 2 yards out and put the ball into the net to put his club back on top for good.

    Match Summary
What a match! Athletic Bilbao played fantastic football through out but Olympiakos prevailed. Olympiakos started it with beautiful ball movement to score an early goal off the right foot of David Fuster. After that Athletic picked up the pace and played even better then Olympiakos through into the middle of the 2nd half. Chance after chance Athletic couldn't put together a goal until the 65th minute where Aduriz found a crack in the defense and leveled the score. Olympiakos then picked up the pace and it was a back and forth battle till the end where Paulo Macardo take a shot from out of the box and puts it into the bottom corner of the goal. Athletic played better for most of the game but you have to make the most of your opportunities in TSO football and Olympiakos was just a more efficient team today

Olympiakos cruised throughout. Spartak Moskva played a great game but couldn't seem to put it all together. Their shot accuracy was 37% and that many opportunities missed is the perfect formula for failure. They moved the ball well and played great defense converting 17 tackles with 0 fouls. Olympiakos is climbing up the ranks and making a name for themselves early. The 1st time manager has yet to lose in a TSO game and seems to be making all the right calls. Great game overall from Olympiakos and once again efficiency has been the key to their success.

pitt4life21 great game. This was a close game and I was fortunate enough to get the lucky bounces to go my way and you didn't. That was basically the difference in the game. If I may give you a some advice you need to tighten up your defense. I recommend letting the cpu doing most of the dirty work and you defending the passing lanes.....also I know it's easier said than done but try not to rush your shots. But the best advice I can give, because I suck at this game, is to play some friendlies with the fine folks here and use a headset and they will have your game improve dramatically. again great game ....it was a blast to play and good luck the rest of the way!

A defensive struggle seemed destined for a draw... but that all changed as the Germans with the too-long-name poured forward late and took advantage of suddenly lax Evertonian defense to rifle a shot past Tim Howard, who had been fantastic with 9 saves up to that point.
Desperate with just a single minute of extra time, the home side went ultra-aggressive on offense and secured a throw-in near the corner flag. A long throw into the box found lone striker Nikola Jelavic, who crossed-up his defender, turned on a dime back into the center of the box and torpedoed a dead-eye shot to the keeper's short side for a stunning equaliser.
Both teams went from frustation to opposite ends of the emptional spectrum, only to return back the middle at the final horn. GG Selvy9

Sporting Lisbon improved to 3-0 in Serie C (3-0-1 in all competitions) with a 3-0 victory over Palermo Tuesday evening. Ricky van Wolfswinkel opened the scoring on a controversial PK in the 37th minute, and added an assist in the 86th to officially announce his arrival to Serie C. Adrien continued his run of form with another goal, and controlled play from his attacking midfield role.

Despite the shooting statistics, the game was evenly matched, with Palermo nearly opening the scoring early in the game only to be denied by GK Rui Patricio, who hasn't allowed a goal in his first three league games.

Four games, four wins for Sporting Lisbon following Wednesday night's 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao. Andre Carillo opened the scoring nine minutes into the game, taking a through ball from Ricky van Wolfswinkel, outrunning the defense, and slotting the ball near side. Twenty-three minutes later, Zakaria Labyad received the ball on the left side of the box and cut towards the middle, shrugging off the defense and shooting the ball into the net to make the score 2-0. Then in the 45th minute, van Wolfswinkel scored for the second game in a row, dummying a pass from Diego Capel and running onto it before finishing far side.

GK Rui Patricio's run of clean sheets continued Thursday morning, as Sporting Lisbon improved to 5-0 in Serie C with a 3-0 victory over Everton. Fabian Rinaudo opened the scoring in the 4th minute following a moment of brilliance from Diego Capel. The Spanish winger beat his man to the endline on his favored left side, cut inside, and found his Argentine teammate standing beteween three Everton defenders. Rinaudo calmly one-touched the ball into the back of the night for a 1-0 lead.
Everton came close to equalizing in the 32nd minute with Kevin Mirallas beating defender Rojo to the ball inside the Sporting penalty area, only to shoot the ball just wide. Thirteen minutes later, with the half nearing conclusion, Sporting striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel went 1v1 with Phil Jagielka and won, putting himself in on Tim Howard alone and finishing for a 2-0 lead.
On came substitutes André Martins and Jeffrén to start the second half, and Sporting would pick up right where they left off. In the 73rd minute Everton defender Phil Jagielka was again turned inside out, this time by the substitute Jeffrén at the top of the box, and with no one in his way, the Spaniard blasted home the third and final goal.
