NO 10 vs TB 27 The Tampa Bay defense came out to play today verses a potent New Orleans offense. On the first possession of the game, the Saints put together a good drive, but got stalled when they failed to convert on 4th and inches in the redzone. It was a huge stop for the Tampa D who were then able to keep the Saints out of the end zone for the first 3 quarters of the game. They forced 5 turnovers which gave the offense good field position. Offensively, Josh Freeman made good decisions with the ball and had a rare interception free day. He went 10/12 177yds 1TD with a 146.5 passer rating. Legarette Blount only had 59yds on the game but he earned every single yard of it with some tough running. The offensive play of the game has to be WR Arrelious Benn’s 70 yd TD catch and run. Defensively, Aqib Talib’s 94yd pick 6 to put the Bucs up by two scores in the 2d quarter was huge. The Saints would eventually get on the board in the 4th quarter when starting QB Daniel Zagzebski was benched in favor of rookie Cory Lilly. Lilly gave his team a spark and made some plays with his feet as well as his arm. The win helps to boost the confidence of a Bucs team who’s had a tough go at it this season and are looking to turn it around and maybe end on a positive note. The Saints fall to 2nd in the division, but they already have a playoff berth secured. Good game Rob. Good luck in the playoffs!
