(AP) New Orleans, LA - The New Orleans Saints got off to a fast start in the Superdome against the Redskins and the #2 pick in the draft RGIII. The Saints would march down the field on the opening posession where they had to overcome a holding call where eventually Drew Brees would hit Devery Henderson on a go route for a 45 yard TD strike. The Saints defense came up big early on forcing the Redskins into 3 and out on their first 2 posessions. The Saints would add 2 FG's and a chance to add more before the half but poor clock management cost them more points as the Saints went into the locker room up 13-3 at the half. The 2nd half you could tell the young rookie was pressing as he was picked off twice in the 2nd half leading to 10 more points for the Saints. 1 Bright spot for the Skins was a beautiful pass where he caught the defense in Cover 2 and hit Pierre Garcon for a 38 yard TD to cut the lead to 23-10.
The Saints however would work all 4 RB's as they combined for over 100 yards on the ground and would not turnover the ball as they enjoy a 23-10 season opening victory.
