    NFC Divisional Playoffs
(AP) Charlotte, NC - The Saints headed to Carolina to play the 15-1 #1 seed the Carolina Panthers where they got beat down earlier this season in both New Orleans and Carolina. The Saints knew they would need their running game and some luck if they were to pull off the upset. It did not look good early as the Saints offense turned the ball over twice in the 1st Qtr giving the Panthers the ball inside Saints territory. The Panthers wasted little time as Cam Newton would score from 1 yard out on a QB Sneak. Just a few plays later the Saints found themselves in another hole but this time the defense managed to hold the Panthers to a FG and trailed 10-0. The Saints were seriously starting to doubt themselves and question whether they could even play with a far superior team like the Panthers.
Thats when the Saints managed to start putting some drives together and while they could not seem to get in the endzone they started chipping away at the lead as they kicked 3 FG's in the first half to pull within a point at 10-9. The Saints would receive the 2nd half kickoff but on the 1st play Mark Ingram would get blasted and cough up the ball giving the Panthers the ball right back in Saints territory. Once again Cam Newton made them pay as he scrambled through the Saints defense for his 2nd TD run putting the Panthers up 8 with a 17-9 lead.

The Saints managed to put together a long drive and it looked as if they were poised to finally get in the endzone until Zabzebski tried his Cam Newton impersonation but would lose the ball inside the 5 yard line where the Panthers would recover taking at least a FG away from the Saints. After a key defensive stand by the Saints the Panthers were forced to punt the ball away which gave the Saints great field position.
It was do or die time for the Saints with the clock winding in the 4th Qtr. Zabzebski led the Saints down the field on a few long pass plays to Jimmy Graham and Harlon Haynes. Still it came down to a 4th and goal from the 1 yard line where Tim Tebow was inserted into the game and he got popped after the snap but managed to break a tackle and score. Mark Ingram would run it in from 2 yards out on the 2 point conversion to tie the game at 17-17. The Saints defense held the Panthers to a 3 and out with just over 2 minutes to go as they would get the ball knowing a FG could win it. The Saints would work the clock inside of a minute where they were within Hartley's range but would be called for holding backing them up to midfield. a 10 yard pass to Jimmy Graham and Ingram's longest run of the game of 16 yards setup a chip shot for Hartley as he would kick the GW FG as time expires to send the Saints to the NFC Championship game with a 20-17 win.
