(AP) New Orleans, LA - The Saints came into week 6 off of their bye week riding a 3 game winning streak but still had a bad taste in their mouth after getting man handled by the Panthers in week 1. The Saints wanted to make a statement to the Panthers and the rest of the League that they are not ready to hand the division to the Panthers just yet. The Saints defense came out firing hitting Cam Newton early and often and making him feel the pressure early as he made several errant throws as the Saints defense did not allow the Panthers offense to get on track shutting them down. The Saints on the other hand were playing balance on offense but the Panthers defense would not make it easy. Daniel Zabzebski would throw an INT in the endzone where LB Luke Kuechly would the make the mistake of trying to bring it out of the endzone where he would be tackled at the 1 yard line. 2 plays later the Saints get a safetey after hitting Taiwan Jones in the endzone for a 1 yard loss and a 2-0 lead. After receiving the free kick the Saints would need just 5 plays to put the ball in the endzone on a short pass to Jimmy Graham for a 9-0 lead. Everything seemed to be going well for the Saints with a 9-0 lead and just 4 seconds left until Taiwan Jones returned the punt 77 yards for a TD to draw within 2 at the half.
The 2nd half started much like the first as the Saints played ball control mixing up the run and short passing game as they would put together a 12 play drive and finish it off with another Jimmy Graham TD to go back up 9. Cam Newton was unable to give the Panthers any kind of spark as he was picked off by Jabari Greer giving the Saints the ball at the Panthers 30 yard line

The Saints would add a FG and would captilize on 2 more Panthers miscues as Cam Newton mishandled a pitch and also coughed up the ball scrambling late as the Saints were able to score 17 more points to eventually finish off the Panthers 33-7 and pull within a half game of the Panthers for the lead in the NFC South.

"We just wanted to come out today and make a statement that we arent going away and if the Panthers want to win the NFC South they are in for one hell of a dogfight" saind Coach Rob after the game. The Saints now move to 4-1 and will travel to Mile High to face a tough Broncos team.
GG LtJustice , look forward to battling down the stretch to see how this all shakes out

GG Rob. We didn't have much go our way in this one. Cam had a terrible game, and drops didn't help.

Right after the INT, Wilkerson dropped a pass right in his hands that most assuredly would have gone for a 99 yard TD. Ended up getting safetied on the next play. Jones got us back into it with the huge punt return TD with no time on the clock to end the 1st half. But we couldn't get anything going on offense, as Cam finished a miserable 4/20 with 2 fumbles and an INT. Aren't gonna win many games with that kind of stat line.
