(AP) New Orleans, LA - The New Orleans Saints came into this week 10 matchup on a 3 game losing streak sitting at 3-5 2 games behind the division leading Atlanta Falcons. The Saints got the scoring going first on their opening possession as Brees was able to find Jimmy Graham on a 44 yard strike on a blown coverage for a 7-0 lead. The game would remain 7-0 as both teams were playing outstanding defense until Jabari Greer picked off a Matt Ryan Pass and returned it for a TD to go up 14-0 with :28 before halftime. It seemed to be a tail of 2 halfes in this one as Atlanta stole all the momentum in the game taking their opening drive of the 2nd half into the endzone thanks to a 74 yard Michael Turner run to cut the lead down to 14-7. After a Drew Brees INT the Falcons would cash in on another scoring drive as Matt Ryan would eventually hit L. Polite on a swing pass who then ran 24 yards to tie this game up at 14-14.
The Saints got the ball with just over 3 minutes remaining and had a tough decision to make, 4th and 1 from the Atlanta 41 yard line with the clock running under 3 minutes, The Saints decided to keep the offense on the field and would get the first down on an Ivory 3 yard run. However, the celebration of the conversion would be short lived as Brees would be picked off in the endzone for the 3rd time giving Atlanta life. The Saints defense would force a 3 and out giving Brees and company 1 more chance. 2 huge runs of 20+ yards by both Mark Ingram and Darren Sproles set up the Saints inside the Atlanta 20 yard line. The Falcons appeared to be ready to let the Saints score with no timeouts left but the Saints would just run it to the 2 yard line and fall on it where they brought in Garrett Hartley on a chipshot 18 yard FG to win it 17-14.
Great game Gutcheck64 , Hell of a defensive game and I am sure the rematch in Atlanta will be another defensive battle
