We are nearing the launch of our league so we need to start discussing some options.

One of the things I am torn between is using simplified, points based salary cap system (similar to the one we used in the past) or a fully fledged NFL Contract system. The good news is both can be tracked in MyLeagueManager but there are positives and negatives to both.

Something to consider as well is that we will be forced to manually keep track of "cap hits" for trading or dropping players etc. MyLeagueManager does not have this functionality and it is my expectation that it will not for the duration of the league. So keep this in mind when weighing on on which system to use.

My vote is for the real NFL system BUT there are drawbacks - everyone has to learn the NFL system and everyone has to have a real understanding of how each move will affect their salary cap situation. This would very much be a hands on approach but its one I'm willing to try. Remember, actively managing your team is part of the requirements of being in the TMFL. If you cannot manage your team, you cannot be a part of the league.

    Vote and discuss please.

In what ways does the NFL system differ from the system on the Offline Franchise, and our previous system?

I don't really have a preference. If we do it the NFL way, I just hope there will be some help whether it come from an explanatory thread or a point in the right direction, which I'm sure will happen anyway.

Create a test franchise - or join tmfltest and then join up on MLM and you'll find out.

Yes, whichever approach we use will certainly have a lengthy tutorial/breakdown

This will be my first OF for Madden so everything will be new to me. I'm game to do the NFL style but I agree with Sub, we need a very well explained tutorial b/c I'm pretty sure I'd screw it up the first couple times.

its a lot of information but done the right way im sure we would manage just fine guys

I'm only know how we did it in the last few seasons ($$$ system) so anything else would take some getting used to. I'm fine with what everybody else decides on.

My only concern is someone jacking up their teams salary cap and then quitting because of it. I can go either way, I m in less leagues this year so will be able to focus better.

That is my main concern as well.

After all, with a new system it pretty likely that some of us will screw it up.

I think it may be one of those 'be careful what you wish for' situations.

If someone were to jack there salary cap up and leave, I am pretty sure "blackballed" from all premier leagues going forward could be a possibility. This is a premier league and if you F it up, so long.

I agree with this, plus I guarantee people will quit if they mess up a few times or just can't get a grasp on it. I vote either way though.
