    2016 SAN FRANCISCO DRAFT
    1. LOLB Lawrence Matthews(9): 85 Overall. 91 speed. 84 tackle. 82 block shed. Paired opposite Aldon Smith with Bowman and Willis in the middle look for this foursome to fly around the field.
    2. WR Langford Tate(41): 6'2 223lbs. 62 Overall. 95 Speed. 82 Catch. He is big and can run but will need to improve his route running to see steady game action.
    3. C Jerry McNeil (73): 79 Overall. 89 Run / 77 Pass Block. 83 Impact Block. 75 Speed. Athletic interior lineman will provide depth.
    4. Traded for a 3rd and 4th next year.
    5. LT Dietrich Jackson (137): 72 Overall. 80 Pass / 81 Run / 82 Impact. 86 Strength. Average in blocking will fight for a roster spot.
    6. TE Jarell Mosley (179): 72 Overall. 85 Speed. 80 Catch. Goes well with the teams current athletic TE's if he can retain a roster spot.
    7. LOLB Shep Redmon (211): 72 Overall. 84 Tackle. He will fight to remain on the roster.

After two disappointing losses to start the 2016 campaign here a few tidbits of news and observations:
    • Game Observations
      • Defensively the team has not proven it can consistently stop the run.
      • The team should take the restraints off Kaep and let him just run the show. He has been over coached the last three years.
      • Carlos Hyde should get more carries as he has earned the rock more and more each time he has touched it.
    • Player Performance
      • OLB Lawrence Matthews may be a star in the making as he led the defensive charge against the Giants with 3 sacks and 8 tackles. The team needs to focus on some of weaknesses to really tap into the rawness of his game
      • Center Jerry McNeil has held his as a rookie anchoring the middle of the o-line.
      • Eric Reid has an INT in both games and is second on the team in tackles with 12.
      • WR Lanford Tate has two TDs on the season with 8 catches for 172.
      • WR Michael Crabtree has been much improved over a year ago with 9 catches for 99 yards while TE Vernon Davis continues to produce as a big play target of 208 yards in two games to include 2 TDs.
    • Player News
      • The team deemed it a benefit for player and team to release veteran player Ahmad Brooks as he was seen as back up to Tank Carradine and rookie undrafted Connor Lee
      • Carradine signed a four year deal worth $12 million total and a $4 million signing bonus.
      • The team has opened negotiates with Patrick Willis while Van mcDonald has advised the team he will pursue free agency, which means the team may begin to ramp up efforts to ramp the development of rookie Jarell Mosley.

    2016 SAN FRANCISCO 49ERs
    • OFFENSIVE MVP
      • TE Vernon Davis: 70 receptions for 1008 yards 4 TDs. Vernon was the lone area of consistency for the Niners in the first 3/4 of the season as Colin Kaepernick leaned on him. At times it seemed as though Kaep could not connect with any one else on the team.
    • Defensive MVP
      • OLB Lawrence Matthews: 62 tackles. 9 Sacks. 2 INTs and 4 forced fumbles. The number ten overall pick in the 2016 draft, Matthews gave the team what it needed an outside impact player to complement the consistency of Willis and Bowman. He finished as runner for the NFC Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

2016 San Francisco 49ers Roster Review
    Pending Free Agents
    • QB: Weeden and Mays are both pending FAs. Only one is likely to be brought back as the team is likely to look for a young arm to develop in the draft.
    • HB: Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter are finishing out their deals. Neither played a great role in the offense so it will be interesting to see how they handle negotiations with these two players. FB Bruce Miller is also a pending FA but his price tag may leave him open to hit the market.
    • WR/TE: Bruce Ellington and Paul Richardson should expect to hit the market along with backup Vance McDonald who step away from the negotiating table during the season.
    • OL: Brandont Thomas and Mike Martin are good reserve players that will likely receive suitable deals to their roles behind a solid starting five.
    • DL: Conner Lee was a priority undrafted FA who the team will push to bring. Paul Soliai was a force inside for the Niners and they will put forth an earnest effort to bring him back. Aaron Lynch and CJ Wilson are not expected to be bought back.
    • LB: The priority for the re-signing period is inking stud Patrick Willis to a deal that would likely make him a career Niner. Seldom used reserves Cody Lemonier and Chris Borland are not expected to be bought back. The wildcards here are athletic reserves Dontay Moch and Lenny Sullivan.
    • CB: Trumain Brock is likley on his way out of SF. As is Brandon Ghee who rarely saw the field. Rookie Kevin Grayson is expected to receive an offer to keep him with the team to see how his potential pans out.
    • S: Erick Reid showed his ability in spurts throughout the season leading the team with five picks and second in tackles. He could see a franchise tag if the two cannot reach an agreement. Donate Johnson could be kept in the fold as well. Jimmie Ward has flashed but has been very inconsistent so his status is up int he air. While Antoine Bethea will not be bought back.
