Some surprising upsets in training camp, Chris Cook the guy who had one foot out the door now has a firm grip on one of the starting jobs.

    2014 49ers 1st round Pick - Jimmie Ward 30th Overall
    [IMG]
5'10 185 pounds, Ward is a tweener pick . Baalke was really impressed with his coverage skills and made the selection to fill the 9ers hole at nickel CB. Unimpressed with the coverage ratings Ward has receieved he will likely be moved back to FS to learn until Bethea is gone and Reid can slide over. Surprising to say so soon after drafting him, trading Ward isn't out of the question.

    2014 49ers 2nd round pick - Carlos Hyde 57th Overall
    [IMG]
At 235 pounds, Carlos Hyde is built to be an work horse. With Frank gore climbing in age and the other backs health/size being big question marks on their ability to carry the load, Carlos Hyde could be seeing full time work in the 9ers backfield very soon. Hyde is one of the slower backs in the division (83 speed), so he will lean on his size and mean running style behind the 49ers aggresive Oline. He also has a 87 TRK waiting for Patrick Peterson if he ever finds him on the edge.

    2014 49ers 3rd round pick - Marcus Martin 70th Overall
    [IMG]
Martin comes in needing to gain strength to fit into a strong 9ers line, with a 82 STR rating that will be one of the areas to focus on. That said his 81 85 blocking attributes are very strong for a rookie coming into the league, and the team views him as a starter in the not so distant future

    2014 49ers 3rd round pick (3/3) - Brandon Thomas 100th Overall
    [IMG]
A run blocking guard, man thought that Thomas could have been a 1st round selection if not for his ACL injury. With 93 strength and 80+ pass and run blocking Thomas is a perfect fit for the 9ers line. He may start off his rookie campaign as the main backup to both guard positions, but Thomas is also working with the line coach taking snaps at center. Don't be surprised if he gets action there this year if Kilgore slips up.

    2014 49ers 4th round pick (2/2) - Donate Johnson DB
    [IMG]
Tall CBs are becoming trendy in the NFL since Sherman's arrival as one of the games best. Johnson is about as big as CBs will come with impressive size and speed (4.45 40). Donate most likely won't see to much playing time in 2014, but with 93 speed he will keep a spot on the 53 man roster until he develops more.

    2014 49ers 5th round selection - Aaron Lynch 150th Overall
    [IMG]
Go back to 2011 and Aaron Lynch was one of the most dominate freshmen linemen in college football. Starting 6 games he had 5.5 sacks and 7 TFL, it seemed like Lynch would be a big time future NFL prospect. Things didn't turn out that way when Lynch went through personal problems and ended up transfering to USF. He never produced the same production and looked disinterested in football at times. 9ers took a later flyer on him hoping to tap into that raw physical potential. With low marks in all mental aspects of the game, Lynch still has the foundation to become a great player, with 84 speed | 94 ACC |72 Str as a 6'5 250LB pass rush specialist.
