Lets get some discussion going on this. It should be alot more easier for me as I am going to make EVERY conference have the same conference play start date, which will pry be week 4.

What I want to discuss is a rotation. Do we want to have a rhyme and reason to who you play each year?

In the past we have tried 2 things:

Conference Challenge, which may be hard with an odd number of conferences, but basically it was conference vs conference each year based on seeds in conference standings

    or

We have signed home and home contracts, which we all played week 1, but we could do it week 2 or 3. Then sign new ones every 2 years.

    or

maybe just keep it as fresh as possible and rotate your user games as much as we can every season.

    What do you guys think?

My only issue at the moment is I am going out of town the 17th to the 23rd so scheduling a week one game if our goal is to start on the 20th may not be the best idea for me.

Ya I dont think anybody really likes playing week 1 vs user, we only did that because scheduling was such a headache last year.

I'd say go with a middle ground where we have 1 home and home and then 1 or 2 games that just rotate every season.

We can always keep records for the "conference challenge".

But it should not be this year, so I say get rid of week 1 user games completely. If the game has true flex scheduling, we could in theory have 4 weeks with 6 user/user games, 7 weeks with 12 user/cpu games and 2-3 weeks with all byes. As for out of conference games, I'd say home and home is best way to go. That gives teams more opportunities to play different opponents.

That would be pretty sweet, everyone having the same bye weeks.

The contracts may be better if there are people who can't play at certain times.

I would like to see some sort of rotation...I dont want to play 10 seasons or so and play 1 user 10x and others 1-2 over the whole OD

I am always open for business. I have never and will never shy away from user vs. user games.

    @MoonBBad

Are we going to keep the ND vs. USC rivalry going?

I'm fine with Home and Home as long as we rotate through people.

As of now, I have 4 user games per year. 3 conference games and ND.

I would be ok with getting to 5 or 6 so if anyone wants to do a home and home let me know.

How about an alternating year home and home?

Say USC and Oregon St sign a contract it would be:

USC @ Oregon St in 2011

then an off year where Id play someone else

    then

Oregon St @ USC in 2013

I take it this is an example since Oregon St is in the Pac-12?

    Yeah.

I think you're only guaranteed the 1 game that you have in your division. Unless we're messing with the protected games (if we can do that).

We should enter as many games in as we can to the protected area. You are talking about 4 teams per conference, and if your division matchup is guaranteed to happen, you are protecting 4 games total.

The pac-12 won't have 3 conference user games per year EVERY year will they? I don't think the other 2 conferences will

Why not? If we have 2 teams in each division, all you would have to do is protect those matchups at the start of the year.

    For Example

    Division 1
    Team A
    Team B

    Division 2
    Team C
    Team D

A already plays B because you play your division

C already plays D because you play your division

So now what is not gaurenteed unless protected?

    Team A vs. Team C
    Team A vs. Team D
    Team B vs. Team C
    Team B vs. Team D

If you set these four games in the conference setup, you will guarantee everyone will play 3 conference user games per season.

Of course this is contingent on how many games can be protected.

you cannot protect new games, only turn "locked rivalries" that are already in the game (like osu vs uofm) on and off
