[ SEATTLE, WA ] - The Seahawks (4-2) were looking to rebound in week 8 following a tough home loss to the Cardinals in week 7. Knowing that their mid-season match-up against the 49ers (3-3) would be pivotal, the Seahawks were poised to defend their house against the visiting 49ers. The Seahawks defense came out strong forcing the 49ers offense to punt on the first offensive series of the game.

Special teams, however, have been the Seahawks Achilles heel of recent. Punt return man, Sealii Orr, would receive the punt and wound up putting the ball on the turf; his third special teams fumble in as many games.

The 49ers took advantage of the short field and Kaepernick would hit his TE Davis on a PA pass at the goalline to give the 49ers an early 7-0 lead.

Orr attempted to make up for his previous mistake taking the ensuing kick return 67 yards to the 29-yard line of the 49ers.

Despite the great field position, Bowman and the 49ers defense had other plans as Morgan would commit the second Seahawks turnover of the game; his first INT.

The 49ers took advantage of the turnover putting the Seahawks defense on its heels as the 49ers offense drove to the 24-yard line of the Seahawks. However, the 49ers offense stalled and kicker Chance Neal pulled the FG attempt left of the uprights missing the opportunity to increase momentum and the lead for the 49ers which turned out to be a pivotal play in the game.

Unable to take advantage of the misfortune of the 49ers, on the ensuing Seahawks drive Morgan forced a pass down the middle right into the hands of safety Eric Reid who read the pass intended for Gronkowski all the way!

Following the Reid INT, the Seahawks defense stepped up as well forcing the 49ers offense to punt on the ensuing drive. Stalling once again, Morgan was forced to throw on 3rd and long from mid-field. This time he made the 49ers pay connecting with Browning deep for a 58 yard TD reception to tie the game at 7-7 late in the second quarter.

The 49ers two-minute offense stalled punting the ball out of bounds at the Seahawks 12-yard line. Starting deep in their own territory with just over two minutes remaining in the first half, the Seahawks decided to run the ball and force the 49ers defense to stop the run and burn timeouts. Recently acquired free agent running back Khiry Robinson had other ideas as he took the rock 31 yards to give the Seahawks good field position at the two-minute warning.

Robinson put the offense on his shoulders in the final two minutes setting up kicker Zachery Wooten for a 36 yard FG to give the Seahawks a 10-7 lead at the half.

Both defenses came out strong to open the second half as each team would exchange punts. The 49ers struck first in the fourth quarter as Kaepernick hit Campbell for a TD reception on a slant over the middle from six yards out. The 49ers regained the lead, 14-10 following the successful XP attempt.

The Seahawks would answer as Morgan connected with Lumpkin for a 74-yard jump ball which was mis-played by 49ers DB McClain and resulted in a TD to put the Seahawks back up, 17-14.

Undaunted, the 49ers offense responded with an 80-yard drive capped off by a 17-yard TD pass to Quick on a comeback route to give the 49ers a late 21-17 lead with just over two minutes remaining.

Morgan and the Seahawks two-minute offense would answer the bell driving all the way to the 49ers 2-yard line with just over one minute remaining in the game. Unable to punch it in, the 49ers Red Zone defense put the stop on the Seahawks offense forcing a fourth-and-one situation from the 2-yard line. Gronkowski's number was called on a drag route as he pulled in a 2-yard TD reception to give the Seahawks the lead once more, 24-21.

The 49ers had one last chance to tie or win the game with just under one minute remaining. Duke Williams had other intentions, though, as he would read Kaepernick's pass intended for Davis over the middle and brought down the game ending INT.
