Beating WGW is easy..... Score a TD on every possession, make sure you have the ball last in the first half and the 4th quarter, anyone can do that

    This Week in Hokies Nation...

    Week 11
    Miami - 10
    Virginia Tech - 6

A hard-fought victory over LSU was all for naught as the Hokies gave back any momentum the had by falling to the Miami Hurricanes at home. The story of the game was the inability of Virginia Tech to reach the Hurricanes end zone, settling for two field goals. The VTech running game was held in check all evening as HB Gemara Anderson had only 75 rushing yards on 21 carries. Ironically, the Miami Hurricane offense did not score a TD in the game either, as an INT return by Miami OLB Nathan Cooper was the lone TD of the game.

    Week 12
    Maryland - 31
    Virginia Tech - 34

Once again, it was a struggle for the Virginia Tech Hokies. While the offense was able to get on the scoreboard throughout the contest, turnovers and the inability to run the ball effectively reared their ugly head again. Unlike the Miami game, this time, the defense wasn't up to the task of shutting down the opposition. Maryland QB Steven McClaim threw the ball at will on the Hokies secondary, including a go-ahead TD with a minute remaining in the game giving the Terrapins a 31-27 lead. With their season possibly going down the drain, the Virginia Tech offense calmly drove down the field before scoring the winning TD on a one yard TD run by Gemara Anderson.

    Week 13
    Virginia Tech - 28
    NC State - 2

It was a dominating performance on both sides of the ball for the Virginia Tech Hokies. The tone was set by the defense, who forced a three-and-out on the game's first possession and returned an interception for a touchdown midway through the second quarter. Offensively, the Hokie running game returned to form as Gemara Anderson had 132 yards and a TD on 21 carries. The passing game was in sync throughout, allowing Tech to control the clock and pace of the game. With the victory, the Hokies move to 7-4 and await the rival Virginia Cavaliers in an all-important interstate game.

GT opened the game with a pick, but nearly ran the table after that. After the first drive Armstrong went 10/10 for 163 yards and a TD. While rushing for another 107 yards a score. Clemson made too many bad throws early and could not make up the difference despite a strong second half.

I was bored one night waiting for the gf and renamed my starters..... Biggest thing in my game against WGW was TO's. Game went very fast as we have similar styles. We both like to run the rock. So if the chains are kept moving, so did the time and we both didn't have a lot of possessions on O. That Trip Options is NO JOKE. Neither is that 90 speed QB. I will be looking for a fast QB next season. That's for sure.

FSU opened the game with a FG drive, but Goergia Tech's 1st play from scrimmage was a triple option pitch to the HB to go up 7-3, and things looked bleak for FSU. After Jameis Winston threw an INT, GT drove the field again, only to have Nathan Armstrong get picked off by LB Christian Jones in the endzone. FSU was able to add a FG to bring the game to 7-6 and neither team could sustain a drive until half. GT got it first, but was forced to punt. FSU drove the field behind Winston's arm, and HB James Wilder capped the drive with a 6-yard run. Jameis Winston scrambled in for the 2-point conversion to go up 14-7.
But on Tech's next drive, Armstrong hit his WR Bryant on a long ball over a defender from 58 yards out, 14-14. FSU took 5 plays on their next drive to take the lead back 21-14.

But GT wasn't done as they put together a nice drive before, but Armstrong WR caught a post route before having the ball stripped and returned 14 yards. FSU scored on their next possession to go up 28-14 and a GT INT sealed the deal. Now, let's go Clemson!

    FSU
QB Jameis Winston – 12-16 for 191 yards, INT,
HB Devonta Freeman – 17 carries for 41 yards, TD
HB James Wilder – 8 carries for 73 yards, 2 TD
WR Kenny Shaw – 6 receptions for 114 yards

    GT
QB Nathan Armstrong – 6-10 for 118 yards, TD, 2 INT, 6 carries for 10 yards
HB Adrian Chase – 4 carries for 96 yards, TD
FB Steve Gary – 7 carries for 24 yards
WR Nicholas Bryant – 5 receptions for 98 yards, TD

    Notre Dame - 38
    Clemson - 5

The Tigers got it first and looked great marching down the field and inside the 10, but a play action call backfired as the Irish were ready for it in cover 3 and Boyd tried to force a pass only to get picked in the endzone. Fountain would struggle and the Irish would be forced to punt it to the Tigers but Boyd would make another error, trying to sneak the ball past the MLB who would get it for the Irish. A few plays later Fountain would score on the QB power run to put ND up 7-0. Clemson would get back to moving the ball well before stalling out just outside the redzone and electing to take the points on 4th and 1. ND answered right back with a TD drive culminating on a 4 yard Porter rush on 3rd and goal to go up 14-3. The Tigers would again make plays to get down the field and managed to get a first and goal inside the 5. Boyd would try to throw again and this time the ball was tipped by the LB and the CB would make a tough catch for the turnover. Notre Dame would follow the turnover with a no huddle drive as time ticked away and Fountain would find Kirby for an 18 yard score to give the Irish a 21-3 advantage at the break.

NDs first drive was stalled by a late pitch (as in i ran out for no gain when I had an easy ten after the barely late pitch) and Clemson would get it but would be forced to punt themselves. The Irish would manage a FG to take a 24-3 lead. Boyd's rough day continued when he thought he had his man on the corner route, but the nickel CB would make a play for Boyd's 4th INT on the day. ND would turn that into another TD for a 31-3 advantage. After another punt ND would once again score a TD to go up 38-3. Playing only for pride, Clemson got in a rythm and found themselves in first and goal from the 2, their third first and goal of the day. The Irish defense would keep the Tigers out of the endzone on 4 straight attempts and get it back with one tick left. The QB kneel was ruled a safety as time expired and the official score is 38-5 Notre Dame to close out their regular season.

GG MexiRican35 , you just couldn't get a break in this one man.

    #3 FSU 28
    #2 UF 20

This was a classic in the swamp. UF opened the game with a quick 3 and out, and FSU but together a 6-play TD drive to go up 7-0. Florida's next possession ended in an interception, but FSU gave it right back with a Winston INT, leading to a Florida TD, 7-7. On FSU's next drive, Winston completed 4 passes to set up his option TD run with 3:14 in the 2nd. The Gators took their time, tying the game before halftime.

FSU opened the 3rd with a TD and were able to hold the Gators to a long FG, making the game 21-17 late in the 3rd. FSu got the ball back and after a -2 yard run, Winston was blitzed and threw early, resulting in an INT in FSU territory. But Driskel couldn't make anything of it and settled for a FG, 21-20 with 6:27. FSU's run game stalled, 3 and out, and gave UF the ball back down 1, bad idea. But deep into FSU territory, Burton pulled a Burton and threw an INT to LB Terrance Smith that was taken 89 yards to the house, FSU up 28-20 with 3 minutes left. FSU contemplated going for 2 to try to end the game, but decided they were more comfortable defending a possible UF conversion. UF moved down the field slowly and was on the FSU 26 with 57 seconds remaining and 2 TO's. 2 plays later, UF had the ball on the 18 with :30 left. Driskel threw to his TE Kent Taylor running an in on the goal line, but LB Christian Jones was waiting for it, caught it and ended the game. GG SatansAngel1104

FSU moved all the way from 10 to 3 in the BCS rankings after beating Georgia Tech at home last week. After knocking off #2 UF on the road, they make a case to play in the title game despite not playing in the ACC Title game. Who knows who will be in, but it was nice to see Ohio St. fall to Indiana.

    FSU
QB Jameis Winston - 10-15 for 99 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT, rush TD
HB Devonta Freeman - 13 carries for 102 yards
HB James Wilder - 10 carries for 33 yards
    TE Nick O'Leary - 4 receptions for 46 yards

    UF
    QB Jeff Driskel - 28-40 for 309 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT
HB Trey Burton - 10 carries for 40 yards
WR Demarcus Robinson - 7 receptions for 70 yards, 2 TD

This year's Commonwealth Cup was a true barnburner. Not only was this the typical battle for supremecy in Virginia, this matched two top-25 teams and a battle for second place in the division.

The game started with a long, deliberate drive by the Hokies, capped with a 26 yard toss from QB Justin Sanders to WR AJ White. Said Cavalier DL Zach Porter, "Man, they were so strong up front, and they started the game just bashing us with running plays, then went over the top for that TD pass. We knew right away this was going to be a grinder."

Virginia answered with a quick drive of their own, highlighted by a 12-yard TD by WR Craig Harris, tying the score. The Hokies took the ball on the subsequent drive and had another excruciating drive for a touchdown.

The Cavaliers were unable to get anything together as they tried to tie before halftime and were able to play the field position game with a phenominal coffin corner punt by junior punter Derron Mitchell, which pinned Tech on the 2 yard line. The Hokies were able to get themselves in line for a long field goal attempt but missed as time expired in the half.

The third quarter was a defensive battle, as neither team was able to pull away. That changed about midway through the fourth quarter, as the Cavaliers were finally able to complete a drive when HB Brian Martin scored. But the tide truly turned when Hokies CB Ryan Wheeler made a spectacular interception, but as he tried to separate from the reciever, he coughed the ball up, immediately handing the ball back to the Cavs. WR Jerry Johnson scored with a minute and a half left on the clock to put Virginia up by a touchdown.

The Hokies made one final drive, pushing the ball all of the way down to the one yard line but coughed the ball up to Cavs LB Dave Hines on an interception and sealed the Virginia victory.

Coach Vandalay was humbled by the victory, "Obviously, this game is important to our fans. But I can say that this was a real, honest-to-God slugfest. They did such a great job shutting down a lot of the things we wanted to do offensively. Kyle Brown entered the game as a Maxwell Award finalist, but they shut him down on the ground and really limited his options through the air. We were very fortunate to get that last turnover and bring the Cup home where it belongs."

Both the Cavaliers and the Hokies will miss out on the ACC Conference Championship, but shortly after, they will both get to find their Bowl fates. Stay tuned, this ride isn't over...

Georgia traveled to College Station to take on #7 ranked Texas AM Aggies and Johnny Football in the SEC game of the week. AM won the toss and elected to defer and have the ball in the 2nd half. Georgia had the ball first and went on the move. The scored when Matthew Stafford hit Leonard Pope Jr. from 19 yards out to make it a 7-0 Georgia lead. The Aggies got the ball and the Georgia defense forced an Aggie punt after AM got inside GA territory. Georgis got the bal again and went down field again. This time it was Hershel Walker Jr who ran 47 power over the left tackle from 11 yards out in the last play of the first QTR and the Dawgs jumped out to a 14-0 lead after 1.

The Aggies then received the ball and marched down field and scored when Johnny Football hit a wide open Malcome Kennedy from 19 yards out to cut the GA lead to 14-7. GA was driving down the field and al of a sudden the lights went out at College Station ( EA SERVER ISSUE ) with GA facing a 2nd and goal from the Aggie 10 yard line with a 14-7 lead. After the power came back on and pay resumed, AM stopped the first play. On 3rd and goal Hershel Walker Jr. took a swing pass juked left and rolled over the FS and scored from 10 yards out to give GA a 21-7 lead. On the next AM possession Johnny Football went to work. AM scored in 33 seconds as Johnny and Kennedy connected again, this time from 58 yards out to cut the GA lead to 21-14. GA got the ball back and on the next play , Stafford was picked off by Raven and AM was in business once again deep in GA territory. AM would score again with 10 seconds left in the half as Ben Malena would score from 2 yards out and the halftime score was a tied at 21. AM went into their locker room fired up as they erased a 21-7 GA lead with 2 TD's right before half time and the crowd was going wild. ( The half time shows special guest was Bruce Springsteen and his E street band)

Texas AM received the ba in the 3rd QTR and went to work right away. The run the ball right down the throats of the GA defense with read options as well as a coupe of triple options mixed in and they took the lead as Brandon Williams went over the wide the fu%^ open 5 hole and scored from 36 yards to give AM their first ead of the game at 28-21. All the momentum was in favor of the Aggies and their home crowd was going absolutely ballistic. Matthew Stafford huddled his team together during the TV time out and said just 3 words. "LET'S BALL BITCHES". GA would then get the ball and march down field as Stafford found Percy Harvin Jr. from 14 yards out as GA tied the game at 28 and that's how the 3rd period would end.

Texas AM was driving and faced a 3rd and long. Johnny Football then threw a pass across the middle but this time Ty Law Jr. was waiting for it and GA was in business in AM territory. GA would capitalize on the TO as Walker Jr. would score his 3rd TD of the game on a 2 yard run over right tackle to give GA the lead at 35-28. AM got the ball back again and the GA defense stepped up and forced a punt. Then Georgia got 2 first downs before the AM defense stepped up and forced a GA punt from the AM 42 yard line. Jason Jones had the most important coffin corner punt of his young career as he nailed it inside the 1 yard line and AM had to travel 99 yards to tie the score. Of course there's no quit in Johnny Football. AM then went on to get 4 consecutive first downs. Then Johnny Football tried to force another pass across the middle. This time FR CB Kenard Sisk was waiting for it and picked it off. GA would then get a first down on 2 plays and the with 2 Stafford kneel downs this game was over as the Dawgs held on for a thrilling 35-28 win over the Texas AM Aggies.

Relying on their passing game more than usual, Georgia Tech pulls out a narrow victory to with the ACC conference championship. Offensively Georgia Tech struggled at times but was bailed out by some key 3rd and long conversions. Defensively GT relied on INTs to stop the FSU offense. Taking advantage 4 FSU intercptions keeped GT in the game. In the fourth quarter, GT forced FSU to settle for a Tying FG with 1:20 left. GT was able to grind out FG range quickly and kick an easy last second FG to win it.

LSU wins the Capitol One Bowl against apparently the best offensive team in the nation. Wisconsin turned it over on 2 of their first 5 plays and then proceeded to amass 540 yards and score every time they had the ball. The only thing that saved the Tigers was 7 TD scored by HB Charlie Thomas.

LSU finishes with 10 wins on the season and hopes to keep their 6th star next season.

    Bama - 28
    Nebraska - 7

Taylor Martinez sucks...held Nebraska to 200 yards (100 come on deep balls where my DB's did nothing). My offense was pediistrian as usual. Yeldon grinded out 114 yards and 2 TD's. A 3 loss season is not expected at Alabama but I'll take it! Should end up in the top 5 or so of the final BCS poll. I can live with that :). Now on to the carnage that is players leaving :(

Probably the oddest game I've played in NCAA14. FSU kicked off to start and forced a punt. After a few plays, Winston hit TE Kevin Haplea on a PA pass to score from 42 yards out after breaking a tackle. FSU's defense was solid the whole 1st half. After a stop, they drove to the red zone but were forced to kick a FG to go up 10-0. They got the ball right back and scored on a James Wilder TD run, but the XP was blocked and returned for 2 points, giving FSU a 16-2 halftime lead.

FSU scored on their 1st drive of the 2nd half, Winston hitting WR Rashad Greene on a deep ball, but again the XP was blocked although we knew it was coming. 23-2 with Jayrah calling the game a 'massacre'. Ole Miss finally put together a nice possession and found the end zone, making it a 13 point game, but FSU answered and didn't decide to go for 2, going up 20. The backup QB was in at this point for Ole Miss and converted on a 41 yard pass play for a TD that was badly misplayed by the cornerback. FSU turned the ball over on their next possession, Jameis Winston throwing an in into double coverage on a PA pass. Ole miss tacked on another TD, now down just 6 points with 4:32 left in the game. On FSU's next possession they faced a 3rd and medium, needing a first to run some clock. But with about 2 minutes left, Winston hit Rashad Greene again on a fly route that beat the corner by a step inside the 5. Ole Miss used their timeouts and FSU settled for a FG to go up 9. Ole Miss scored, but they took most of the time off the clock and FSU got the onside kick, a 32-30 win.

    FSU
QB Jameis Winston - 16-23 for 380 (career high) yards, 2 TD, INT
HB Devonta Freeman - 13 carries for 33 yards
HB James Wilder - 8 carries for 24 yards, 2 TD
WR Rashad Greene - 7 receptions for 201 yards, TD
WR Kenny Shaw - 4 receptions for 102 yards

    Miss
    QB B. Wallace - 6-14 for 74 yards, 2 INT
    QB T. Bridges - 11-14 for 245 yards, 2 TD, INT
HB J. Scott - 9 carries for 48 yards, TD
WR J. Gallegos - 4 receptions for 138 yards, TD
WR D. Moncrief - 3 receptions for 91 yards, TD

Guess all it took was recchem2000's Bruins to ignite the Tiger's offense. QB Boyd opened the game going 10-10, and HB McDowell ran for 160 yards and two scores. Easily, the best offensive game for the Tigers this season.
