Patriots win the season opener in against the Steelers by a final score of 37-30.

The first half was dominated by the Patriots beginning with two passing touchdown scores from Tom Brady in the first quarter. Big Ben threw an interception and Le'Veon Bell fumbled only adding to the Steelers first half woes. The Patriots were able to capitalize adding two FGs and another TD before the half giving the Patriots a 27-0 lead. The Patriots recieved the ball in the second half but ended up punting the ball soon afterwards. After another unsuccesful Steelers drive they punted the ball to Julian Edelman who muffed the punt. The Steelers recovered the ball and maintained possesion. From there the Steelers were able to score, taking advantage of the turnover and giving them their first points of the day. Despite scoring 30 points the Steelers were never able to gain much of a rhythm until it was too late. The Patriots were able to add another passing touchdown and another FG to put the game out of reach. Le'Veon Bell was unable to get going on the ground and 3rd down proved to be troublesome for the Steelers all game giving the Patriots an important win early on in the season. Michael Vick threw a TD pass in place for the injured Roethlisberger in the 4th quarter.

    Key Players
    Tom Brady- 21 for 26 - 319 YARDS - 4 TD
    Bradon LaFell- 6 REC 133 YARDS - 2 TD

    Ben Roethlisberger- 19 for 30 - 285 YARDS - 2 TD - 1 INT
    Markus Wheaton- 6 REC - 66 YARDS - 1 TD
    Martavus Bryant- 5 REC - 82 YARDS - 1 TD
    Antonio Brown- 4 - 99 YARDS - 1 TD

Despite what the score says, this game was dominated by defense. Winston and Mariota had rough days on the field and it definitely slowed the scoring down early. A pair of fumbles had the Bucs down 17-7 going into the second quarter. Doug Martin was contained all day and had all of a 1.1 YPC average. Winston could not get anything going early and the rain caused numerous drops. The only bright spot was he came out of the game with one INT. Redzone defense came up big for us as we forced 4 FG attempts on the day. We also had early success against Mariota, recording several sacks and picking him off 3 times. The team weathered the storm and Winston turned it on in the fourth, leading a game winning drive and finding Mike Evans in the endzone with 35 seconds left in the game.

    Key Players
    Jameis Winston - 305 Yards 4 TD's
Doug Martin - 5 catches 105 yards. 60 Yard TD catch early.
    Austin Sefarian-Jenkins - 4 catches 105 yards 1 TD
    Defense - 5 Sacks, 3 picks, 2 FF, 16 TFL

Bears send early message with win over Green Bay!

The Bears got the ball first and wasted no time as Manziel adjusted to his new surroundings by hitting rookie wideout Kevin White in the face of the blitz for a long TD. The pack answered with a FG and then both teams boarded the turnover train with the packers throwing a pair of INTs and the Bears throwing an INT and losing a fumble all in the first quarter. Two more Manziel TD throws, the second after a late INT from Rogers (his 3rd) resulted in a 24-6 advantage for Chicago at the break.

Green Bay came out calm to start the second half, putting together an effective balanced drive after being stifled for most of the first half and came away with a score to narrow the gap to 24-13. Then coach Guru's kids doused his modem in Pepsi, apparently they heard what happened in the previous nights HaW game between the same users and wanted dad to avoid that kind of pain all over again.

With the technical difficulties, the Bears were forced to play the CPU and got an easy win but one that came at a cost as star HB Matt Forte ruptured a disc in his back and will miss 6 weeks for the Bears.

GG GridIRONguru614 , or at least it was shaping up to be. That TD to start the third was huge and could have signaled you getting a rhythm on offense. Looking forward to seeing if you can continue that momentum into our game in Lambeau later this season :)

If the season opener is any indication of how this season will play out for the Redskins and Dolphins, then fans of both sides will be in for excitement and a side of heart disease. RG3 in a much embattled offseason was named the starter prior to kickoff, another chance for the once deemed franchise QB to regain the trust of coach Jay Gruden. Griffen lit up the Dolphins defense for much of the game until an interception late helped setup the Dolphins to go ahead in this one. While RG3 was efficient for most of the game it was the running game that both teams relied on in this one as Miami's Lamar Miller and the Redskins' Alfred Morris combined for 382 yards on the ground and 50 carries. The Redskins trailed early 7-0 but were able to bounce back and take a 20-7 lead into the half. Starting with the ball the Redskins drove down the field only to miss a field goal that would have put them up 16 in the 3rd quarter. The Dolphins would use that momentum to score a couple touchdowns and take a 24-20 lead in the 4th quarter. Matt Jones scored on a 8 yard throw and catch from RG3 to put the 'Skins up 27-24 with only 4 minutes remaining. The Dolphins rallied and were able to kick a short field goal to force OT. In overtime Miami would start with the ball and get as far as the Washington 6 yard line before Ryan Tannehill would throw his 2nd INT of the game (both to MLB Keenan Robinson). The Redskins were unable to connect on a couple short passes and set the Dolphins up in good field position. With a heavy dose of Lamar Miller who scored on a long TD run to give us our final score of 33-27.

    Key Players

    Robert Griffin III - 21 of 32 - 228 PY - 3 TD 1 INT - 23 RY
    Alfred Morris - 28 ATT - 148 RY
    Keenan Robinson - 10 TAK - 3 TFL - 2 INT

    Ryan Tannehill - 20 of 37 - 231 PY - 0 TD 2 INT
    Lamar Miller - 22 ATT - 234 RY - 2 TD

Atlanta Falcons beat the Philadelphia Eagles 34-31 in a shootout

In what was a barn burner in the ATL the Eagles and Falcons came out swinging like two heavy weights in a title fight. Sam Bradford and De'Marco Murray led the Eagles high flying offensive attack down the field for three straight drives in the first half. Atlanta's offense struggled to get things going in the first half and we're thankful for only being down 17-10 at half time. The Eagles received the ball to start second half and we're held to a three and out. 3rd quarter Atlanta received kick return and then Matt Ryan launched a rocket to Julio on second down, that got the Falcons in scoring range. De'Vonta Freeman punches it in from three yards out. Next Eagles drive Bradford hit Jordan Mathews over the middle for 25 yards and kept pounding the rock with Murray and Mathews. Eagles score on a five yard pass to Darren Sproles. Falcons receive the kick return with three minutes left in the game and go three and out. Eagles receive ensuing kickoff and on second down Sam Bradford throws a pick in double coverage to Kemal Ismael. Matt Ryan with little time left launches a sixty five yard bomb to Julio jones to get the Falcons in field goal range for a last second field goal. Matt Bryant comes on for the 23 yard field goal with .03 seconds left in 4th quarter. Falcons win a barn burner with the Eagles in Atlanta.

    Texans 34 - Chiefs 17

This was a super close game. Half time was 17-17 with Tom Savage throwing 2 TDs, one to Bennett and one to Hopkins, and Logan Thomas running in a 1 yd TD and finding Conley over the top on a Hail Mary as the half ended.

2nd Half was all Texans as Foster ran in a TD and the clincher of Cedric Peerman taking a screen pass 53 yds to Pay Dirt.

GG Gonzo612 I think you'll be a great part of MBA.

Bears hang on for a 32-24 victory at home!

Chicago looked good early on and despite an early fumble that resulted in an easy for the Cards and an INT in the redzone from Johny Manziel, they took a 17-7 lead into the half. The Bears defense was ferocious early on and held the cardinals running game in check, but Carson Palmer came on strong late. The Bears offense was able to answer though with two big plays in the fourth quarter, first when Manziel found Eddie Royal on a crossing route for a 63 yard TD and then later Jeremy Langford took a draw play into a gaping hole against an edge blitz and sprinted in for a 52 yard TD that looked like it would seal the game. Palmer made things interesting with a pair of long drives setting up a first and goal snap down 8 as time expired. Palmer's final throw fell incomplete giving the Bears a surprising 2-0 start and dropping the Cards to 1-1.

Player of the Game: Jeremy Langford continues to impress in Forte's absence, gaining 193 yards on 26 carries with a pair of TDs

GG Hordan54 another one down to the wire :)

    The 3 & Out Shootout

    Kansas City @ Green Bay
    Final Score 10-12

This was one of the biggest defensive struggles that I'm sure either Coach had ever been involved in. The defensive units for both teams played phenomenal. Both offenses were marred by turnovers at the most crucial times in the game. The game started out with a long methodical GB drive that ended with Rodgers throwing an INT and coming away empty handed. The first KC drive resulted in a TD to TE C. Conley from Ryan Mallett. Mallet played well in this game despite having 3 INTs, going 21/33 for 339 yrds and 1 TD. He was getting the ball out quickly to his receivers and keeping drives going by coming up with big conversions on 3rd down all throughout the game. Green Bay played a bend but don't break style of defense. Offense however was another story. Aaron Rodgers went 13/28 for 239 yds, 0 TDs, and 2 Ints. A wide open TD reception to A. Quarless was dropped in the endzone forcing a 3 & out on one of the 2 trips that Green Bay had in the Redzone on the day. Players like Dontari Poe and Sean Smith were definite standouts for the stiff K.C. defense. Poe reeked havoc on the GB O-line all day, forcing Rodgers off his spot and into the arms of Tamba Hali and Mike DeVito. Pressure up from also resulted in a pair of INTs for Sean Smith and Phillip Gaines. After a long battle back and forth, Green Bay finally capitalized on the miscues of the KC offense. KC while already in field goal range and down by 2 with less than 1:30 in the 4rth, continued to try to get closer to the end zone to set up the game winning FG. However, Julius Peppers stepped up in crunch time and forced a fumble on Jamaal Charles which clinched the game. The player of the game in this defensive standoff was without a doubt.....K MASON CROSBY who went 4/4 on FG attempts, scoring all of GB's 12 points!

GG Gonzo612 You def. made that game frustrating with your defensive play. Im sure you can turn around your 0-3 start if they keep playing like that.

    Week 8

    Vikings (5-1) at Bears (5-1)

This week 8 matchup was highly anticipated in the NFC and in particular the NFC north where these division rivals were setting the early season pace as both boasted top 5 defenses through six games and at just one loss, were trying to keep up with undefeated Seattle.

The Bears got the ball first and the Vikings defense came up huge. First they stuffed rookie phenom Langford for a 1 yard gain and then wily vet Terence Newman would take advantage of a throw by Manziel that flat out missed his intended receiver for an INT giving the Minnesota offense first down inside the redzone. Adrian Peterson was able to punch it in the endzone to give his team an early 7-0 advantage. On the ensuing drive, the Bears were able to put together a nice drive punctuated by a great play by Alsho Jeffery undercutting the safety on a poorly thrown ball and setting up a short TD run from Langford to even up the score.

Minnesota would stall at the Bears 38 on their next drive facing fourth and 2. With intense Windy City gusts, the Vikings played it conservative and punted the ball (key moment). On the next drive Chicago got a FG and then after forcing a punt they scored another FG as the half ended to go into the break up 13-7.

The decisive third quarter started off with the Vikings offense on the field. A WR screen lost a few yards and two plays later a third down sack forced a three and out inside their own 10 (key moment). The windy conditions forced a short kick and the Bears were in business inside the Vikings 40 yard line. Johnny went play action and threw a 29 yard strike that reserve WR Marquess Wilson would snatch with a leaping grab to cap off the short drive. Things went from bad to worse as an INT led to another short field and a Lanford TD run. Finally getting something going, the Vikes moved into FG range but missed a kick into the wind. A few plays later Manziel went to Jeffery deep. Alshon made a great play on the ball over the corner and just before the safety got there to help coming down with the catch on top of the defenders..... And never actually hitting the ground, Jeffery got to his feet while the defenders where tangled on the ground and jogged the rest of the way in for a 60 yard score putting the Bears up 33-7 going into the final quarter. It was all academic after that as Chicago coasted to a decisive 39-13 victory.

GG seanisgreat87 I'm sure that our next game will be closer. ;)

    Week 13: Ravens Vs. Dolphins

The Dolphins hosted the Ravens in week 13 in what turned out to be a defensive battle. With the Ravens being known for their aggressive play, the Dolphins knew they were going to have to come out and run the football, and their defense was going to have to be aggressive and play physical to win. QB Ryan Tannehill had a horrible day ending up 10/17 for 119, with 1 TD, and 2 INT's. RB Lamar Miller had a decent day running the ball. He gained 103 yards on 20 carries with 1 TD.

The defense was able to execute the game plan well picking Ravens QB Joe Flacco off 4 times, as he went on to finish the day 25/40 for 222 with no TD's. Ravens RB Lorenzo Taliaferro was held in check for most of the day until he broke a 68 yd TD run, and went on to finish the day with 98 yds on 15 carries. The defensive leaders for the Dolphins were Jelani Jenkins who finished the game with 7 tackles. Koa Misi had 4 tackles and 2 INT's and Rashad Jones who had 3 tackles and a pick.

The Dolphins squeezed by with the win 22-18.

    Week 14: Giants vs. Dolphins

The Dolphins hosted the Giants in primetime in week 14. It was a matchup that included two former teammates and best friends. WR's Jarvis Landry (Miami) and Odell Beckham Jr. (Giants). QB Ryan Tannehill still upset from his outing against the Ravens, played a little better throwing for 293 and 1 TD, no INT's. RB Lamar Miller ran for 86 yards on 18 carries and 1 TD. Rookie RB Jay Ajayi also contributed 46 yds on 4 carries and 2 TD's. WR Jarvis Landry hauled in 4 catches for 41 yds.

The Dolphins defense played much better against the run holding Rashad Jennings to 40 yds on 12 carries, and 1 TD. QB Ryan Nassib went 21/30 for 323 2 TD's and 1 INT. WR Odell Beckham Jr. was held to 3 receptions for 69 yds.

The Dolphins came away with the W, 34-24.

    Week 15: Dolphins vs. Chargers.

The Dolphins traveled to the West Coast in week 15 to take QB Phillip Rivers, and Rookie sensation RB Melvin Gordon. Needless to say it was all Dolphins in this match up. Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill played a near perfect game despite throwing 1 INT, he finished the game 20/24 with 179 yds and 2 TD's. RB Lamar Miller was rested in the 4th Quarter as he piled up 154 yards on 15 carries and 1 TD through 3 quarters. Rookie RB Jay Ajayi had 11 carries for 42 yds. Most Surprising was the emergence of Dolphins Rookie WR Devante Parker. Parker hauled in 5 catches for 63 yds and 2 TD's.

The defense played very well only giving up 3 points, and confused QB Phillip Rivers, who ended the day going 11/25 for 128 yds, with 3 INT's. RB Melvin Gordon was held in check, rushing for 54 yds on 15 carries.

The Dolphins cruised to a 38-3 victory.

    Week 16 Colts vs. Dolphins.

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill had another horrible outing against the Colts. He was seen earlier in the week getting his eyes checked out, and he may need to get a second opinion. Tannehill struggled all day and finished completing 18/26 for 199 with 1 TD, and 4 Picks. RB Lamar Miller was once again relied on running for 86 yards on 19 carries and 2 TD's.

The bright spot of the day came again from the defense which registered a safety and a pick 6. It seems someone new always steps up to make a play. This week it was DE Dion Jordan. Jordan ended with 4 tackles, but also had 3 sacks, and the pick 6. QB Andrew Luck couldn't find his 4 leaf clover in this one going 18/35 for 255 yds, and 3 picks. RB Giovani Bernard rushed for 67 yds on 14 carries.

    The Dolphins won 30-12.

    Week 17 Patriots vs Dolphins

Taking nothing away from the Patriots as they came out with a great game plan, the same cannot be said for the Dolphins coach. Thinking the Dolphins had the division in the bag, the Dolphins coach decided to sit some starters for a bit to give them a rest for the playoffs. Needless to say while the division was in the bag, but the Dolphins still had a chance to win the 2nd seed in the AFC and they would have had plenty of time to rest players for the playoffs.

With that said it was a very even contest. The Dolphins started out slow as Matt Moore missed several open wide receivers which in hindsight left points to be had. Matt Moore finished the game 7/18 with 85 yards passing and 1 TD to rookie WR Devante Parker. RB Jay Ajayi started and finished with 8 carries for 39 yards. Lamar Miller came in the second half along with QB Ryan Tannehill but only had 8 carries for 14 yards, and QB Tannehill finished 9/16 for 141 and 1 TD. Like Moore, Tannehill was rusty and missed open receivers as well.

Defensively the Dolphins played OK. Patriots QB Tom Brady finished 20/29 for 298 and 2 TD's, however Rookie CB Bobby McClain dropped two INT's. RB's LeGarrette Blount finished with 18 carries for 52 yards, and unfortunately Dion Lewis who had 4 carries for 19 yards left the game with an adominal tear.

The key coaching decision came late in the game when the Dolphins down 3, came out to run a play on 4th down to go for the win, but got cold feet and called timeout and went for the sure 3 points. The Patriots were able to get in field goal range and kick the game winning field goal as time expired.

All in all Owner Billy Carter came away encouraged as the Dolphins played hard for 4 quarters, and lost a close one to a great owner and head coach in the New England Patriots. The Dolphins will now turn their attention to the playoffs in an attempt to make some noise. The funny part is they never thought they would be there.
