#19 Boise State 35
UW won a shootout and upset the #19 Broncos. It was clear that both offense were rusty as neither side found the endzone in the first quarter and it looked as if we would have a defensive battle. In the 2nd though we got some offensive action as UW would find the endzone twice, once on an absolute beautiful strike for 60 yards from QB Keith Price to WR Kaydon Smith that hit him right in stride without missing a beat streaking down the field. Boise would respond before halftime with a score of its own and UW would take a 14-7 Halftime lead.
In the 2nd quarter UW QB Keith Price and Boise QB Jon Southwick would duel it out as neither side would be forced into a punt for the rest of the game. Price was slinging the ball around left and right and anytime UW would find the endzone Boise would respond right back with a score of its own. Both quarterbacks finished with 383 yards and 4 TDs through the air, which is a first in my time playing NCAA. The difference in the game proved to be UW rushing game as Bishop Sankey made key conversions and WR Kaydon Smith was able to get into space and score from 45 yards out on a triple option play. UW took the lead for the final time with 2:46 left in the 4th quarter. Boise would put together a solid drive and converted on 4th once, but the defense finally made some plays and was able to stop them on 4th down a second time just outside of FG range as Bostwick was sacked and turned the ball over on downs. A real war and a nice opening test for this U-Dub squad.
IrishBearcat I played my game vs UMass and won 45-13 and for some reason it didn't upload? I went back to the Dynasty screen after then shut my box down. Proceeded to log onto the OD online page to do my write up and it didn't upload their. Went back on my box to check and yep it says play game. Never had this happen. Extremely frustrated.
So no game result saved for you? If this is the case you're welcome to replay it or we can have you super sim it and quit until you produce a result close to the actual outcome. Lemme know.
Okay just decided to replay quickly and took care of UMass 35-24 this time around. Wasn't as pretty as my first go but after playing them once I'll just take the win. Umass didn't have much to offer the new look Arizona offense as the Cats were able to move the ball on the ground and through the air against the blitz happy UMass D. Unlike the first go around, Zona's D didn't force any turnovers and UMass was only able pick up big gains via the read option and screen game. Arizona controlled the game throughout but coach Burr will stress to his defense to not allow the big play. "Screens and QB keeps killed us today and we need to prevent that stuff moving forward. Other than that I though we looked pretty solid for our first time out."
Shit I would of simmed until I got a similar result, having to play UMass twice wasn't exactly something to look forward to especially when my win looks less impressive than the first. Oh well it's in the books now
Glad you worked it out so your team got the W it earned on the field!
Yup, we can go that route next time.
#3 OREGON SHUTS OUT GEORGIA STATE
DeAnthony Thomas scored 3 touchdowns in the victory over Georgia State
-Final Score 49-0
-Marcus Mariota was 12/17, 192 pass yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 0 Sacks, 2 rushes, 20 rush yards, 2 TD, 4 total TD
-DeAnthony Thomas 17 rushes, 93 rush yards, 2 TD, 2 catches, 63 yards, 1 TD, 3 total TD
-Won the turnover battle 3-0
-Defense totaled 5 sacks on the day
Remember posting the score of your game & a sentence or two is required. I know some games had to be simulated because the score did not stick, but 2/12 members is awful. I was quite happy with the contribution and effort from the league as a whole for the first week minus this component. Let's fix this and do better in the future!
Barry Sanders jr. Saves Stanford
Stanford came into their rivalry game against San Jose st heavy favorites. They left with alot of questions. In a back and forth game that seen SJSU take the lead with 2:25 left, Barry Sanders Jr took the ensuing kickoff up thr middle finding a crease near the 40 yard line making a couple defendees miss before being caught inside the SJSU 10. SJSU didnt make it essy forcing a 4th and inches at the goal line. Stanford who waa in a similar position at the end of the first half and failed to convert, punched it in from half a yard for the go aheas score with :25 left. Sanders finished the game with 272 all purpose yards in his debut for the Cardinal
I forgot Stanford had Barry Sanders Jr. on their squad. Pretty cool he's already making big-time plays for your team early in his career.
Game was crazy, they were so good on third down and I was horrible. Lol damn rivalry games we should have lost! It was fun to play
UTAH STRUGGLES WITH RIVAL UTAH STATE
Utah's offense was a bright spot when they met their instate rival Utah State, defense on the other hand let Chuckie Keeton do what he wanted the whole game. Utah could not get pressure on the Utah State QB the whole game and it would have a huge impact on the game, allowing Utah State to score 3 passing touchdowns in the second half and close the gap. Utah held on to Win 33-31
Washington State Squeaks by Auburn in their Opener.
Star QB Conner Halliday struggled in the beginning but found his touch in the 2nd half scorching Auburns defense.
Coach Abdul on Halliday after the Game: He is the type of QB who makes his WR's good, reminds me of Tom Brady
Sun Devils Stomp RedHawks In Tempe!!
ASU D Is too much for Miami U
One of ASU D's 8 sacks on the day (DE Junior Onyeali)
Well the Coach Mc York era got off to a slow start today as the offense took the field 1st and went three and out. There were early grumblings coming from the crowd as Miami then proceeded to march down the field and score on its opening drive of the 2013 season. Down 7-0 the offense started to click and ASU started to move the ball in fact the punter did not see the field for the rest of the day. The defense took that 1st score to heart and only gave up a field goal the rest of the way (Miami returned a fumble for 6 points in the 3rd qtr). Led by OLB JR Carl Bradford (7 tackles and 3 sacks) and SR MLB Stefon Martin (9 tackles 1 sack and 1 INT) the ASU D was flying all over the field. To go along with their 8 sacks they also had 3 INT's and held Miami to -38 yards rushing. On Offense the Devils showed the masses their new multipronged attack. JR QB Taylor Kelly and SO QB Michael Eubank split time under center and each brings a lethal skill set to the game. Kelly is your prototypical QB drop back and sling it as he went 19-32 for 161 yards (1 TD 1 INT) while Eubank is an option threat. He is a big boy (6'6" 248 lbs) and is lightning quick (3-3 1 TD and 1 TD on the ground). While those two split time they are not alone as ASU has a dual threat RB combo as well.
SR TB Marion Grice (19 ATT 119 Yards 1 TD, 3 catches 1 TD) is the grinder SO Scat Back DJ Foster is the speedster (10 carries 94 yards 1 TD, 3 catches 55 yards 1 TD, 112 return yards). ASU will be a good team this year how good its too early to tell. They have a killer schedule playing 4 ranked opponents in a row before getting into the meat of their Pac 12 schedule if this game is any indication then I believe they will be just fine.
Lowering the Boom
Washginton State impressed many people with their win over #23 USC in their house. Conner Halliday had another stunning performance but the real difference in this game was Washinton States running game. Caldwell rushed for almost 200 yards and had 3 TD's on 23 attempts. He was unstoppable from start to finish, Hopefully WSU can keep this momentum up for the rest of the season, We have alot to prove.
Some Highlights from the Game
Stanford stiffles Army
Stanfords defense this week looked like a top 5 team. There offense? Not soo much. Aided by 3 turnovers (two which were defensive touchdowns) and more brilliance from Barry Sanders the Cardinal put 38 on the board against Army despite only achieving 161 yards of total offense. Stanford was up 21-0 nothing 5 minutes into the game and seemed content to just ride it out. Coach Kenny Powers had an explanation "We jumped out early and became disinterested. No big deal. On to next week against Arizona State. " Critics around campus are buzzing now. Alot of people were against the hire and waiting for Powers to fail. Stanford has alot of questions to answer and a short time to do so hosting a realky good sun devil team next week.
The Cats went to Vegas this week and came out victorious. Ka'Deem Carey led the way offensively with back to back 100+ yard games to open the season and a more impressive 3 TD's in this one. Everybody seems to be buying into coach Burr's scheme but critics are wondering if the freshman Connor Brewer is ready to be the full time starter at QB. Although he has been efficient with his throws, 5 int's against 2 sub par opponents is a cause for concern. Coach Burr said he's sticking with his freshman right now and says " It's all part of the growing pains, you don't learn from mistakes if your'e not committing them." Arizona will play host to UTSA in week 3.
DEANTHONY THOMAS' FOUR TOUCHDOWNS
& DEFENSIVE SHUTOUT LEAD TO BLOWOUT
The Oregon Ducks defense has yet to surrender a single point this season
-Final Score 35-0
-DeAnthony Thomas rush for over 200+ yards, and scored 4 rushing touchdowns
-Oregon has now outscored opponents 84-0 in two games
-Mariota has yet to be sacked this season
UTAH WINS CONFERENCE OPENER
Utah was lead to victory by another great performance by Sophomore quarterback Travis Wilson. Wilson went 15-24 through the air for 346 yards and 3 touchdowns 0 int. Utah jumped out to an halftime lead of 24-3 and would be held to six points in the second half. The Oregon State beavers would grind a touchdown in the second half with a final score of 30-10.
When asked about his first win in the PAC 12 coach Bud Wiser responded "This game was what we thought it would be, a tough defensive struggle with a close score". When asked about the upcoming schedule for the Utes "This conference is competitive from top to bottom, you can't take a week off in conference play, We will use this upcoming bye week to prepare for back to back top 25 teams and try to be as ready as possible."
POTG: Travis Wilson 15-24 346 yds 3 td 0 int
Stanford survives miscues, wins late over Arizona St
In their conference opener against the ASU the Cardinal once again looked vanilla on offense in a 20-17 win. This was a defensive struggle throughout as neither offense could sustain any drives. Stanford got things startes on their first drive of the game, after the defense forced a 3 and out, Hogan led the Cardinal on a scoring drive capped off by a two yard touchdown run by Hewitt. Stanford would again force another 3 and out, but this time after driving down close to ASU territory Hogan threw his first of three picks. After a loss of a yard and still not earning a single first down Kelly threw a beautiful pass to Strong, who turned upfield made a man miss and took it 64 yards to tie the game. Stanford would continue their power run game on the next drive. They had been pounding the rock and after achieving a first down coach Powers went with play action. He had to have been nervous seeing the defense had 9 guys in the box, knowing if he were to get the pass off it could be huge. The safety bit just slightly and Hogan threw his best ball of the day and with the safety making a desperation dive
Montgomery took it 64 yards to regain the lead. ASU would mountva decent drive that stalled near midfield and would be forced to punt the ball. Sanders Jr attempted a fair catch at his own 13, and as he looked up in the rain soaked sky the ball bounced right off his helmet and was immediately recovered by ASU who would score from 13 yards out on the next play to tie it up going into halftime.
Defense dominated the second half and after a scoreless third quarter Stanford would find themselves first and goal at the ten. The ASU defense with their back against the wall stiffened and came up with a couple huge plays forcing a 30 yard Fg. After another Hogan pick ASU capitalized on great field position and tied the game up with 2:39 left. Facing 2nd and one Hogan hit Cajuste for 22 yards near midfield for a huge play. After an incompletion that was almost picked, Powers might as well have put his kicker at QB because everyone in the stadium knew what was coming. Gaffney would get 4 straight carries including a huge 4th and 1 from the 33. Powers did not want to put the ball back in the air and settled for a long 42 yard FG with a stiff breeze in his face which barely made it through as time expired giving the Cardinal the win. ASU played great defense in the loss but Gaffney ran like a man possessed racking up 124 yards with 54 coming after contact. Great game mcyork. I love those defensive battles like that, alot of strategy and all areas of tge game are so important. I was very lucky to survive those 4 turnovers.
UCLA rolls against New Mexico State 54-7
Star QB Brett Hundley has another big game going 11/21 for 224yds and 4TDs. UCLA continues their dominating ways on offense with nearly 600 yds.

Colorado Blanks Fresno State in the 2nd Half for 3rd Win
Colorado came into a dog fight with more talented Fresno State team. They were able to take in control in the 2nd half keeping Fresno off the scoreboard to hang on for the win. 2 4th quarter interceptions by Colorado sealed the Bulldogs fate and allowed Colorado to move to 3-0 heading in conference play.
