    Fresno State vs Cal
    Week 1
    Pulling One Out!!!!

The Fresno State Bulldogs were down 14-7 with 3:30 left in the game. The crowd seemed to be headed to the exit to get a jump on traffic as JR QB Derek Carr, the younger brother of NFL QB and former alumnus of State David Carr, just threw his 3rd INT of the game and 4th TO of the game, he fumbled the ball on a huge hit to start the second half, when he headed over to the bench hanging his head. New OC Coach Seabass slapped his helmet ala Woody Hayes and said "snap out of it we can still win this". "That really changed me I knew that we were playing a real good team today with just as good athletes as we have and I had to just forget my mistakes and gut this one out." and thats what he did. When the D held the Bears to one 1st down and a 3 and out the Offense took over on the 40 yard line with 2:33 left. "We had all of our TO and we knew that they were blitzing Derek from his blind side looking to jarr the ball loose or have him make a mistake. I called an out and he hit Jalen Saunders in stride for a 1st down and a little momentum." said Seabass. After a sack dropped pass and a TO the Bulldogs O got another 1st down on a 3rd and long. They had the ball 1st and 10 on the Bears 40. The next play was a completed pass to the sidelines that was called back for a holding. 2nd and 20 they compleated a pass over the middle for 7 yards and a TO. 3rd and 13 next play was a dropped pass which made it 4th and 13. Coach Seabass had this to say about the incredible play with 1:30 left in regulation "We called a 4 deep pass pattern with one guy slanting over the middle. He was supposed to sit in the zone past the 1st down marker but Carr saw Dunn and hit him in stride right off the bat. He was Carrs 4th option but he read the D and Dunn took it to the house.". State tied it up but was not done there the D stopped the Bears once again as they tried 3 incomplete passes to give the Bulldogs a chance with 30 sec left. Carr again hit Dunn over the middle and he moved the ball down to the 33 yard line. Coach Hill called a TO with 4 seconds left and SR AA Kicker Kevin Goessling split the uprights from 50 yards. The remaining fans rushed the field in jubilation. A huge win to start the season as next week the Dogs head to Nebraska to take on the #16 team in the country the Cornhuskers.

The 2011 season kicked off at The Rock this evening and the Golden Eagles were caught in a steady downpour of rain and turnovers. Coach Miller's offense seemed to struggle to find a consistent method of moving the ball. The O-Line struggled most of the day to protect Austin Davis along with some poor passes led to the offense turning the ball over 3 times during the game. When asked about his offense inept ability to move the ball Coach Miller had this to say.

"It was a performance just like the weather, it was ugly. We found some rhythm passing the ball and then we would just shoot ourselves in the foot. We put together two drives that could have been game changers and then we would turn it over. Central Michigan has a good coaching staff and a solid defense they should do well this year, but for us to beat anyone this season we must improve our offensive output. Today was key for the season not just because it is the opener, but because we learned what our strengths and weaknesses are on offense. The defense looked good they carried us most of the game but we let them down by not capitalizing on some great opportunities."

Coach Miller also said that his offense will be ready for Marshall next week as the Golden Eagles travel to face the Marshall's Thundering Herd in the unfriendly confines of Joan C. Edwards Stadium in Huntington, WV.

Austin Davis Hail Mary before the half. USM's only score of the game.

I wasn't even mad about that play. That was pretty awesome, something I'd never seen before.

Despite the score, this game was a pretty even match. The most important thing that happened (or didnt happen) in this game was that the RedHawks were able to win without any significant injuries. Next week, Miami(OH) will have to face the Bulldogs of LATech. LATech and their frustrated offensive coordinator will definitely be looking to right the ship after a tough Weel 1 loss. Getcha popcorn!

Fresno traveled to Washington this saturday and tried to keep the momentum going. Unfortunatly the Offense gave the ball away 5 times (4 of which were INT's,1 returned for a TD) and the Defense could not get a stop when they needed too and the Bulldogs came up short 37-31 in front of a sold out Huskey Stadium. Derek Carr and the offense couldn't get anything going in the 1st half and found themselves down 17-3 to begin the 2nd half. The O got cranking and outscored UW 14-7 in the 3rd behind the legs of Robbie Rouse who had both TD's in the QTR and ended the day on the bench after being hit in the head by a Huskie FS. Carr threw a nail in the coffin with 35 seconds left in the game by throwing his 4th INT at the Washington 35. "Tough day we have to go back to the drawing board. Derek made several good throws (22-35 for 285 yards and 2 TD's) so we can take that from the game. The OL paved the way for Robbie he had 128 yards and Jalen (Saunders) made some great catches (4 rec 97 yards) we need to watch the tape and then we can evaluate the grades for everyone. We go to Idaho in two weeks and start the conference schedule so we have to get to work." said OC Seabass after the game.

    UTEP-41
    SMU-35

    Miners Shock Mustangs

The UTEP Miners went into Dallas and stunned the SMU Mustangs 41-35 despite only 299 yards of total offense to the Mustangs 510. The Miners were able to control the clock however, winning the TOP battle 17:57 to 10:03.

The offense was incredible in week 2, rushing for 198 yards and 2 touchdowns and passing for 101 yards and 2 more scores. They also were smart with the ball, not recording a single turnover. Halfbacks Joe Baynard and Vernon Frazier running all over the SMU defense, with Baynard carrying the ball 19 times for 119 yards and two scores and Frazier carrying 16 times for 92 yards. QB Carson Meger had problems hitting receivers, going 9-22, but also threw two touchdowns.

The Miners will face off against New Mexico State in a rivalry game next week in Las Cruces.

This was a real barn burner........7-0 at the half and each team poked one in during the second half.

Not much exciting took place. NI scored on a 1 yard rush by HB - J. Hopkins and then a 23 yard screen play to HB - C. Bell

    NI Passing Yards - 80 Rushing Yards - 128
Marshall Passing Yards 101 (79 of them on a TD reception) Rushing Yards - 16

    No turnovers by either squad.

Next up was my beating at the hands of Rice.

    Louisiana Tech 19
    Miami U - 16

The game started off with a fly by during the national anthem in honor of 9/11, and both teams sported as much red, white, & blue as they could.

Miami U was the first to put points on the board with a fumble recovery in the endzone which sidelined LA Tech's QB Tarik Hakmi for the remainder of the game. (Video on dynasty wire)

This one came down to a few key moments in the game. One, with 3:41 left in the fourth quarter and trailing Coach Max decided to go for it from 11 yards out after previously lining up for a FG. Givens caught a wide open pass in the back of the endzone from Dysert to take a 1 point lead. Later, Coach Max's team kicks a FG on third down when they could've easily put the game away or ran the clock under a minute. This proved to be a huge difference in the game as the Bulldogs would score on the very first play of their next drive - #1 Richie Casey hauled in a 74 yard TD reception from Junior Colby Cameron to take the lead for good! (Video on dynasty wire)

Cameron came in for the injured Tarik Hakmi, and had a great game leading the Bulldogs to their first victory of the season over a quality opponent.
He finished 11 of 25 for 228 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, and a big scramble play of 15 yards.
The defense was lead by Senior DE Matt Broha #91 who had 4 solo tackles two of them being sacks and another TFL.

The Miner offense was firing on all cylinders on Saturday, running all over the Aggie defense to the tune of 267 yards rushing. The Miners also added 168 yards through the air, with QB Carson Meger only missing two passes and throwing two touchdowns. HB Joe Baynard had another monster performance, carrying the ball 19 times for 205 yards and two touchdowns, backup HB Vernon Frazier added 65 yards and a touchdown as well. The Golden Eagles were able to pick up their first win of the season against conference and divisional rival Marshall University. The Golden Eagle offense finally showed up for this season, and the Golden Eagle defense played 4 quarters this game. The first quarter was a see-saw battle, but in the second quarter USM finally broke into the endzone with a 13 yard pass from Austin Davis to Kelvin Bolden. To finish off the first half the Southern Miss special teams made it a 10-0 game with a 43 yd field goal by kicker Danny Hrapmann, whom missed a 48 yd field goal earlier in the first quarter. The Southern Miss offense continued to put up points with a 21 yard pass from Davis to Tight End, Ryan Hanks to put the Golden Eagles up by 17 going into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter the Marshall offense gained some steam due to a change at quarterback. The Thundering Herd scored an amazing 30 yard touchdown from their tailback Martin Ward. The Herd brought the game within one score in the 4th quarter with a field goal from kicker Tyler Warner. When the defense seemed to get a little fatigue the offense stepped up with Kendrick Hardy bursting a 62 yard scamper to the house which sealed the victory for the Golden Eagles. Coach Fedora and Coach Miller were not available for commentary due to some in season recruiting that was done in the area after the game, but the Golden Eagles look to continue their success against FCS Midwest back in the Hub City this coming Saturday.

The Golden Eagles faced off against FCS Midwest today at M.M. Roberts Stadium. The Golden Eagles did what most expected and that was to trounce their opponent. The USM offense scored 52 points in this contest. The starters played the first half and put up 24 points which featured a 85yd touchdown on a screen pass to Kendrick Hardy, and 79 yard reverse to wide receiver Kevin Bolden. In the second half Coach Miller called for his offensive backups and found a gem of a tailback in Desmond Johnson. Johnson went for the hat trick and scored three touchdowns during the game. Desmond scored from 7, 79, and 53 yards. He finished the contest with 206 yards on 15 carries. Austin Davis finished this contest with 12-20 for 191 yards 1 TD and 1 INT. Coach Miller had this to say about todays contest.

"We came into the game looking to solidify some things on offense and to make up for our performance at home to open the season. We played a great game and even got some experience for some of our less experienced players. Our focus now is on our trip to play Virginia in Charlottesville next week. The team is starting to gel and become more confident in our abilities and we are looking to come away with a victory against the Cavaliers."

    RedHawks Hold Off Warriors
    28-26

Coming off a tough road loss to LA Tech, Miami(OH) would have to face another dangerous WAC opponent in Hawaii. The RedHawks capitalized on early mistakes by Hawaii's QB and the offense was there to back them up with 28 first-half points. Coach Parrothead made some good halftime adjustments though, and Miami(OH) would be held scoreless in the second half. Those 28 points would be just enough to win though. The RedHawk defense came up huge in the 4th quarter when Hawaii was going for the tie on a 2pt conversion. The Warriors spread the field and tried to run the ball, but Miami(OH)'s MLB read the play and shot through the line untouched tackling Hawaii's running back for a loss. That would be the difference in the game. Coach Parrothead couldnt get any consistency out of his offense, but they did put themselves in a position to force overtime. GG again

Videos up on Dynasty Wire. Ill get them up on youtube and post them here soon.

idaho's defense rebounding after terrible loss to A&M. Get past hard hitting Fresno State 34-17
special teams and defense was key as fresno threw 3 interceptions in which all of them were critical to the win. Idaho had a good day on offense as well with 3 rushing touchdowns.
Fresno did a great job getting to the quarterback, forcing an interception and some hard sacks. fresno running back Robbie Rouse did a great job on keeping idaho's defense on their heels as he busted some big runs

    Mississippi State 66 (66!), Hawaii 21

Not much to be said about this one other than my ass hurts. Every time I sat there watching the game sim through MSU's plays, I'd watch them drive down and score. It was sickening. I think they scored on every possession in the first half, and the first two in the second half.

On a side note, it's nice to see that these teams are actually losing the majority of the games they SHOULD lose. NIU vs. Wisconsin, Hawaii vs. MSU, etc.

    Temple - 17
    UTEP - 31

The Miners overcame a 10-0 deficit in the first quarter to improve to 4-0 on the season, despite being outgained 302 to 180 in total offense. The key to this victory was the defensive intensity of the Miners, intercepting two passes, one to even it up at 10 with :08 seconds left in the first half to swing the momentum, as well as holding Temple to 4-10 on 3rd down and 0-3 on 4th. The defense also tallied 5 sacks. On offense the star was Vernon Frazier, who ran for 67 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown and added a 97 yard kickoff return to start the second half.

UTEP will look to continue its win streak against Houston in what looks like it could be a shootout.

Me too! Its working out well so far. And you dont hate it as much because youre only controlling half the ball. Being a coordinator comes with a built-in excuse lol
