Arkansas State stunned the Illini early and took a 14-0 lead but all that did was wake a sleeping giant. The Illini's top HB Jason Ford took his first 4 runs for 38 yards and then suffered an injury and would not return. Enter backup HB Troy Pollard. All he did was carry the ball 25 times for 201 yards and 3 tds and take a kickoff return to the house for another TD.

Next up the Illini take on that filthy Ole Miss team.

Nothing to write home about really in this one. We were up 17-3 at halftime after the offense looked pretty sluggish in the first half. The real story was the running game, as my HB went for over 210 yds and 4 TD against an absolutely terrible defense. It was nice to play an FCS team to become acclimated with a new team, but at the same time I'll be happy to never play another FCS school again.

Junior RB James Washington put his team on his back in the inner state rivalry game by rushing for 167 yds and a TD to help lead the wolfpack to a 1-1 record and 1-0 in the ACC. The other big story was Qb Mike Glennon was benched after throwing too many int's for Fr qb Tyler Brosius who we may see start next week for the pack

Good game Bond... ASU took an early lead on a nice opening drive only to have Illinois come right back on us to tie the game. After the first drive, my team really struggled to move the ball and get first downs. Illinois got a lot of good blocking and their defense was on fire in the 2nd quarter as they rattled off 21 straight points to take a 21-7 lead. ASU got the ball back and was able to drive for a TD to narrow the gap to 21-14 right before the half.

The 3rd quarter was really a battle of field position. Illinois could have added a couple more TD's than the one they added at the end of the quarter, but the ASU defense was able to step up and force Scheelchase into a couple of mistakes. At the end of 3, it was 28-14 Illinois.

The 4th quarter saw ASU mount an unlikely comeback. On the drive after Illinois most recent touchdown, ASU went down the field and scored through the air as Brock Osweiler hit TE Trevor Kohl for one of his 8 catches for a TD. There was again some jockeying for field position as the defenses held, but ASU eventually got the ball back with under 2 minutes to go. The Sun Devils had luck on their side as Osweiler launched a deep ball into what turned out to be man coverage with a safety over the top. Instead of the safety sneaking in to pick the pass off, he came in and collided with the cornerback as WR Mike Willie hauled in the pass. The collision meant that no one was going to catch Willie, and ASU had tied the game at 28.

After holding Illinois to a 3 and out, ASU got the ball back with one time out. A nice drive led to a 39 yard field goal as time expired to give the Sun Devils an improbable road win.

"My hat's off to Coach Bond & his team... they played really well, but our defense was able to force Scheelchase into some big mistakes. That TD to Willie was an incredible stroke of luck, and we were able to take advantage of that rather than squander it. The Big 10 is going to have to keep an eye on Illinois, they're a scrappy bunch for sure".

ASU goes to 4-0 and USC goes to 0-4 after a defensive battle in Tempe. The big nod goes to the ASU defense and special teams, as we kept USC in check and off balance all game. Game ball will go to the punter whose first 3 punts were all inside the USC 15, which eventually led to us scoring a TD due to the field position battle.

    Onward and (hopefully) upward!

After starting the season off with a big win against Miammi, they went to Syracuse to lose a very close game that left them with a 1-1 record and taking on a very strong Illini team from the Big 10. Both squads were looking for a win to get above 500. Maryland jumped out early and went on to win the game 31-17 not letting the Fighting Ililni score an offensie touchdown. Illini got their scores by causing two scoop and run touchdowns and kicking a field goal. The Terps are fighting to get into the top 25 in the nation and are getting no respect. The team is young and are not very deep with talent but with a strong recruiting class should improve the Terps. Now the Terps take on the West Virginia Mountaineers and look to get a good jump on a very respectable record.

The Terps travel to a very hostile environment at the West Virginia Mountaineers home turf, where the crowd is loud and aggressive. The Terps jump all over the Mountaineers early and fast and never look back and punish the Mountaineers with a final score of 42-3 and the defense still has not let a touchdown in the last few weeks and is becoming one of the higher ranked defenses in the nation. The Terps look to continue the winning against a tough offensive scheme in the Georgia Tech Yellow JAckets.

    Oregon - 8

The Sun Devils defense certainly came to play as we intercepted FOUR Oregon passes - in the first quarter! The Ducks offense was pretty bad all day except towards the end when we were playing prevent defense as time ticked down. ASU struggled on offense as well, but was able to rely on a steady run game to keep the clock moving. Without that facet of the game, we would have been in trouble as Brock Osweiler struggled through the air.

That sends us to 7-0 (4-0). Our last 5 games are against teams that we should, on paper, handle with no problem. There is big potential for a matchup of undefeateds in the inaugural Pac 12 Championship game - Washington and ASU. Time will tell as there is certainly plenty of football to play.

Terrapins took on the Tigers and caught a Tiger by the tail. The Terrapins defense harassed the Tiger QB and ended the game with 5 sacks and 3 hurries. The offense took over the game late in the game made the game look more lopsided than it really was. The game was close all the way up to a miniute to go where the Terps scored a touchdown and then forced a fumble and scored again to make it seem lopsided. Major offense came from a little package named Megget the Terps running back. He really carried the team this week and pulled this out for the team. This gave the Terps control of the ACC and made it the Terps to lose the next game they need to win is against NC State to insure a conference championship.
