Week 1 vs Akron
Akron 3 - South Carolina 42
Qb- Shaw- 7/12, 216, 2 TDs
Rb- Lattimore- 20/121, 2 TDs
Rb- Wilds- 10/51, TD
Wr- Sanders- 2/100, TD
Wr- Smith- 2/75, TD
Def- DT Jerideau- 12 tackles, 4 sacks
After a scoreless 1st quarter that consisted of a missed FG by the Gamecocks and a successful fake punt by Akron on a 4th and 18. That fake punt seemed to wake up the Gamecocks as they scored on their next possession with long pass from Shaw to Sander for touchdown, which made it 7-0. Akron answered with a FG, and with under 20 seconds before the half Gamecocks scored on a Hail Mary pass to WR Smith taking South Carolina into half up 14-3 . From there on the Defense took over and the offense chewed up the clock on the ground with the two headed monster of Lattimore and Wilds. After a slow start the Gamecocks showed their muscle.
Welcome back. Looks like you are the new Frisky.
Is that a good thing? Just trying to catch up right now.
He ran the eff out of the ball.
Texas Tech 34
After a 5-7 season in 2011, the Red Raiders started off the 2012 season on the right foot with a win vs Army. Army's triple option was no threat for the Texas Tech defense. QB Seth Doege led the Raider offense by throwing 4 touchdowns on the afternoon, two of which were caught by WR Alex Torres. Torres would finish the day with 8 catches and 131 yards. Army would take a 3-0 by the end of the first quarter. Tech would then reel off 17 points in the 2nd quarter and never look back. Despite throwing two picks in the 2nd Half, Doege would guide the Raider offense to two more scores in the 4th to seal the win. The biggest play of the day was a beautiful pass to WR Aaron Fisher for 75 yards. Fisher was able to catch the ball in stride and take it to the house.
QB Seth Doege - 20/31 337 yards 4 TDs 2 Ints
WR Alex Torres - 8 catches 131 yards 2 TDs
MLB C.Hubert - 10 Solo Tackles (16 total) 1 Int
Key Injury: HB Eric Stephens will miss 4 weeks
Fresno state 30
Squeaked by these bitches... and i mean squeaked...... back and forth battle.... my SS Hawks gets a huge INT late in the 4th and Crist drives us down the field to take a 31-30 lead with about 2 minutes left. Then we force the 4 and out... game over....
Crist - 17 for 23 253 yards 2 tds 1 int
Sims 21 carries 155 yards td
FS McDougald - 12 tackles 9 solo
Man, the injuries are crazy so far.
If your punting is screwing up, super sim the punt. I'll bump the accuracy slider up next week and see if that fixes it.
my punts were fine.... if that matters..
Yea if I remember right, Army's QB went out of the game 3 times, they lost two HBs to injuries. I lost a TE for the game
My HB got hurt, but only for a few plays. My opponent had a TE get hurt but it was also a "will return soon" injury.
Houston - 52
North Texas - 14
We started off hot in this one. Our first drive QB Piland hooked up with TE Bibbins up the middle bisecting the safeties, in which Bibbins outran the secondary for another 50 yards for a 68 yard TD. We then started to get the ball moving on the ground and HB Sims ran in from 18 to put us up 14-0. UNT finally got up on the board with some tough running and had a nice 57 yard TD run of their own. On the next drive, starting HB Sims went out for the game with a minor injury. All backup Welford did was take the very next play, a swing pass to the flats, down the sideline while juking several defenders for 49 yards. UNT had another good drive, running well again and HB Byrd picked up his 2nd score 21-14.
The rest of the game was all for Houston. In the 2nd, Welford got a consecutive receiving TD after taking a screen to the house for 51 yards. We followed up with 2 more scores in the 2nd with a 44 yard strike to #2 WR Preston and a 2 yard dive from Welford after he ripped of a 70 yard run and was caught right before the goalline. We scored once in the 3rd letting the 3rd string HB see some action and 1 FG in the 4th.
QB Piland - 12/17 315 yards 4 TD 1 int
HB Welford - 26 att 232 yards 1 TD, 2 rec 100 yards 2 TDs
HB Sims - 9 att 53 yards 1 TD
WR Spencer - 3 rec 71 yards 1 TD
TE Bibbins - 2 rec 79 yards 1 TD
LB Steward - 6 tck 5 sacks 1 FF
LB Mathews - 6 tck 2 sacks
QB Thompson - 22/47 289 yards 0 TD 0 int
HB Byrd - 8 att 123 yards 2 TDs
WR Byrnes - 7 rec 149 yards
I had 8 sacks on D, and 6 of them came off screens. The cpu is terrible at running screens and they call a ton of them. UNT QB was awful. Many of his passes went out of bounds and about 5 were dropped. My stonehand defenders also dropped about 5 potential ints as well. Having a slow D will be terrible in this game. My 90 spd HB Welford would just leave the UNT defenders behind.
Iowa State - 38
Bowling Green - 19
Iowa State relied on a great 1-2 punch in Jeff Woody and James White. A true thunder and lightening duo that really, really played well together. Woody went for 17 carries for 87 yards and a TD, while White went for 72 yards on 11 carries. Freshman sensation Rob Standard had 36 yards on 4 carries during mop up duty, but looked extremely good doing it. Very excited about this future star at Iowa State.
Defensively, Joe Knott and AJ Klein are simply all over the field. Knott had 9 tackles, 1 sack, while Klein had 7 tackles, 1 sack, and a FF that changed the entire game because the DE picked it up and scored a TD that made it a two possession game in the third quarter. Offensively, ISU needs to get Barnett into some more open space so he can take advantage of his mobility, but overall it was a solid first win.
Schedule gets a lot harder with a trip to Ruston, LA and a solid La Tech team.
It looked bad early. After the first quarter I was down 0-6 and all I had done on offense was average 10 yards per punt. Finally in the 2nd quarter my offense got into the groove with HB Marlin Lane moving the ball nicely on the ground. I scored 24 points in the 2nd quarter and that pretty much broke the spirit of the Trojans of Troy.
QB Tyler Bray - 8/19, 188 yds, 2 td, 1 int
HB Marlin Lane - 24 rushes, 135 yds, 1 td
HB Rajion Neal - 9 rushes, 56 yds
WR Da'Rick Rogers - 5 catches, 99 yds, 1 td, 150 kr yds, 1 kr td
DT Maurice Couch - 5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 ff
Texas A&M 40, Ball State 30
Ball state slings it all over the place to keep things close in College Station.
Jamiell Showers makes two mistakes on the day, but connects to WRs Ryan Swope and Kenric McNeal on a couple of big plays to assert the power of the Aggie offense on an over-matched Ball State defense. HB Christine Michael gathered 54 yards on the ground and a score. True Frosh HB Trey Williams launches into the spotlight with a 103 yard TD return.
I got my ass handed to me in this game. I can't stop anyone on defense. Mike Glennon was the second coming of Phillip Rivers going 21/28 and hitting receivers in triple coverage for tds. I was able to run the ball in the beginning but once I got so far behind I had to pass the ball and threw 5 interceptions. My WRs are not getting open at all.
QB Tyler Bray - 10/20, 137 yds, 0 td, 5 int
HB Marlin Lane - 18 rushes, 91 yds, 1 td
WR Da'Rick Rogers - 3 rec, 22 yds, 156 kr yds, 1 kr td
TE Mychal Rivera - 3 rec, 69 yds
My next 5 games are absolutely brutal as I have....
Kansas ( JrRawlins )
at #7 Arkansas
at #6 Georgia
at #3 LSU
I will most likely be 1-6 after that stretch.

We just really struggled to slow them down offensively, especially in the passing game. WR Alec Lemon had 5 catches for 129 yards and 1 TD for the 'Cuse, as they cruised to victory. They jumped out to an early 27-7 lead at half, but we were able to fight back with strong efforts from WR James Logan and backup HB James Thomas. Starting tailback Jeff Scott got off to a slow start with no yards on 4 carries before getting knocked out of the game with an injury that is expected to keep him out for up to 5-6 weeks. Thomas came in and was more than serviceable as a backup, rushing for 126 yards and a TD, but he wasn't quite able to carry us all the way back as the Orange tacked on a TD with 3:30 left, and a FG with :44 seconds left to seal the game.
Week 2 vs Auburn
Auburn 21 - South Carolina 28
Qb- Shaw- 14/20/216, 3Tds, 3Ints
Rb- Lattimore- 24/145, TD
Wr- Byrd- 5/119, 3Tds
Def- MLB Smith- 8 tackles, 5 solo, sack
What a tough hard hitting game this was! Gamecocks scored on their opening drive with a touchdown pass from Qb Shaw to Wr Byrd, who stepped up with WR Sanders out for 2 weeks. Byrd had 3 touchdowns and seemed to be Shaw favorite target. Shaw's 3 Ints gave Auburn the lead, all of them coming in the 1st half. Auburn had a tough running game and ran all over the Gamecocks defense. The key play was when South Carolina was driving late in the 4th and Rb Lattimore broke a 27 yard run for the go ahead score. "We just kept giving him the rock and he eventually broke one late", Coach Flo quoted after the game.

Iowa State - 31
La Tech - 10
Iowa State traveled down to Ruston, Louisiana and kicked the shit out of a decent La Tech team led once again by my senior LB's Joe Knott and AJ Klein. Knott and Klein simply dominated the middle of the field. They combined for 17 tackles and both were making big hit after big hit. Senior CB Jeremy Reeves led the secondary with two interceptions and overall played great defense against a pretty salty La Tech receiving core.
Offensively, Iowa State was once again led by a strong ground game spearheaded by the thunder and lightening duo of Jeff Woody and James White. Woody at 6'1" 245 lbs, almost always go forward and even broke a long 24 yard run, the longest of the season for any Iowa State RB, and had 91 yards on 13 carries. White had 73 yards on 12 carries, while QB Jared Barnett had 9 carries for 50 yards. In back to back games against fairly mediocre competition, the Iowa State ground game has been fantastic.
With a big road game coming up next week with Iowa, the Cyclones need to be ready because conference play is right around the corner.

Tulane actually gave us a run for our money in a game we expected to walk in and dominate. We played some pretty poor defense, and allowed them to convert a ton of 3rd downs, especially in the first half. In the 2nd half our D settled in a little bit and finally started making some plays to keep the Green Wave out of the end zone allowing only 3 points in the 2nd half. We only forced 2 punts in the entire game, both in the 2nd half. Tulane was driving late in the 4th, only down 8 before Wesley Pendleton intercepted a pass in the corner of the end zone and returned it 107 yards for the TD to seal the game. Devin Thomas continued to play well filling in for the injured Jeff Scott racking up another 90 yards on only 13 carries. James Logan also continued his hot start to the season with 4 catches for 86 yards and 2 TD.
