The Cincinnati Bengals traveled to division rival Baltimore for the first Monday Night Football game of the 2012 season, and both teams did not disappoint the national audience as big plays were the norm throughout all 4 quarters.
    1st Quarter
The Bengals won the coin toss and elected to defer. The Ravens came out on their first drive and moved the chains several times before being forced to punt. The Bengals were unable to do anything against the famed Baltimore D, and so the 1st quarter kept repeating itself, until around the 2:00 mark. The Ravens drove the ball down the field methodically with runs from Ray Rice followed by short and intermediate passes from Flacco that kept the Bengals guessing the entire drive. Just inside the 20, Flacco hit his tight end Ed Dickson on a 19 yard strike to put up the first points of the game. The Bengals were shut down on their next drive and once again forced to punt. Flacco, full of confidence from the last drive, came out and got a little too brave throwing across the middle and free safety Reggie Nelson made him pay by intercepting the ball and returning it to the house to tie up the ball game. On the ensuing kickoff, return man Jacoby Jones made the Bengals pay for not staying in their lanes by dashing the entire length of the field for a 100 yard kickoff return. End of first quarter score Bengals 7 Baltimore 14.
    2nd Quarter
The second quarter was pure defensive, as neither teams offense found the endzone. The big play of the quarter came from 5 foot 7 WR Andrew Hawkins who returned a Ravens punt 77 yards for a score. Flacco and the Ravens had one opportunity at the endzone but Flacco overthrew Ed Dickson on what would of been a easy TD. At the half the score was Bengals 14 Baltimore 14.
    3rd Quarter
The third quarter seen both QBs light up the defenses. Dalton scored on back to back drives, once on a 80 yard catch and sprint to rookie Mohammad Sanu, and again the next Bengals possession 34 yards to tight end Jermaine Gresham. The Ravens answered with fireworks of their own as Jacoby Jones caught beautifully thrown 15 yard pass in tight coverage over Taylor Mays, then shook Mays outta his shoes and sprinted to the endzone for 81 yards. At the end of the third the score was Bengals 28 Baltimore 21.
    4th Quarter
The fourth quarter was all about converting opportunities into big plays. TE Jermaine Gresham ran a deep drag and Andy Dalton hit him in stride. Gresham zigged and zagged his way down the field eluding the Ravens secondary all the way to the endzone. Following the TD, the Ravens clawed and fought their way down the field and answered with a TD of their own as Anquan Boldin caught a 34 yard pass for a score. The Bengals fizzled out their next drive and were forced to punt, but did pin the Ravens very very deep on their own 6 yard line. Only one TD behind, the Ravens offense came onto the field looking to tie the game up and send it into overtime. Joe Flacco dropped back into a 5 step drop, had nobody open, and attempted to hit his checkdown man, but was intercepted by Rey Maualuga who was on a QB spy, who then ran the short 6 yards to score and seal the win for the Bengals.
    FINAL SCORE
    BENGALS 42
    RAVENS 28
The Bengals came through with big defensive interceptions at opportune times to win this game. The Ravens had early success running the ball with Ray Rice, but chose to air it out more as the game went on. This was a great game and it looks like the AFC North is going to be very competitive. DU55 nice job on the game recap. Turnovers were huge throughout the game. I thought Flacco could fit the ball into too tight of window on occasion resulting in 2 bad second half turnovers. Also Bengal S Taylor Mays made one of the best INTs I've ever seen in Madden, diving in the endzone to pick off a corner route to Ed Dickson at the end of the first half. I could not get Ray Rice really going being down during the second half, and the Bengals having 8 in the box most of the time.

Andy Dalton had a field day as my pass rushers barely were able to get to him. TE Jermaine Gresham tore up my secondary especially over the middle of the field.
