TOLEDO 54 BUFFALO 27
The rockets cruised to a blowout win at home over Buffalo. QB Terrance Owens helped fuel the rocket win going 15 of 21 for 449yds 4td 1int. WRs Reedy and Macon each had big days.
Reedy had 7 rec for 181 2tds and also had a 100yd KR TD breaking a school record. Macon chipped in with 5 rec for 197yds 1td. Buffalo chose to stack the los and press the toledo wrs early and often...they chose poorly. While the tactic did limit the toledo ground game it just made for a quicker death through the air as Owens picked them apart leading Toledo to a 52-24 halftime lead. The Rockets were able to just chew clock the entire 2nd half managing only a safety as they finished out with a 54-27 win.
Ball State Battles NIU for Victory!!
This game was tight all day long.
The key was several INTs by Ball State that keep NIU alive and the Cardinals off the scoreboard.
14-14 at halftime was followed by a defensive struggle in the third quarter with both teams only scoring FG's.
17-17 going into the 4th Q.
Ball State scored first int he quarter to go up 24-17 off a short run from Banks.
NIU came back and evened the score at 24-24 off a short TD run of their own.
Then NIU came up with another INT at this critical time. Ball State fans were thinking the worst as a score at this point could be the game.
Instead, the very next play NIU was intercepted by Ball State!!
With great field position, the Cardinals would drive down and score the game winning TD with Banks getting his third rushing TD of the day.
We just didn't have the horses to match up with Ohio smh
SJSU Over Nevada 38-31
In my mind your punt return is by far the best play on that video, because when I picture it you are jumping up and down in front of the tv and waking up the whole neighborhood as you scream "RUN FORREST RUUUN!" at the top of your lungs. After he goes out of bounds you sit back down and resume playing normally.
Senior heavy Ohio takes advantage of the youth of BGSU, winning 45-13.
Bowling Green came out of the gates fired up, just as they have every game since Coach Davis took the reins. Despite giving up one or two big plays early, the Falcons were playing inspired on defense, and came closer to shutting down the Bobcats' rushing attack than any other team this season. Coach Gemmabelli has this to say:
"They were giving our rushing attack fits. Yeah we had a decent lead going into halftime, but that was only due to a couple of big plays that were given to us, not earned. It wasn't the kind of lead a coach ought to feel comfortable with, especially not when Ray Davis is on the other sideline. They were giving us so much trouble that I was nearly on my last straw when their QB made a bad throw right into the hands of our defense and broke their spirit. The thing is that the receiver was actually wide open, but no matter how good the coach is, young teams are just going to play like they're young sometimes. He didn't quite have the arm to get it to the open guy on a good play call, and it really just let the air out of their whole team. And at the risk of sounding redundant of sounding redundant, you've got to give Coach Davis credit. His team didn't stay down long, they actually pulled themselves together faster than most top heavy teams would, but by that time it was just too late. They fought right up until the final play though. They never gave up. Those boys over there at BGSU would go to the moon and back for Ray Davis, and it's very apparent that he is teaching them to come closer together in the face of adversity, and turning what was a team into a family. It's the moments you get to see things like that , that you're reminded why there is no game like football, and why you fell in love with the game in the first place. "
