Our first big user matchup pits the Tigers of LSU against the Oregon Ducks in Eugene, OR. LSU is coming off a shocking Week 1 loss to Baylor where QB Jordan Jefferson played very poorly. It remains to be seen whether or not Jefferson will get the nod this week for the Bayou Bengals. Meanwhile, Oregon got off to a great start this season, putting up 48 points in a thrashing of Fresno State, with HB LaMichael James easily clearing the 200 yard mark. The Ducks seem to have the advantage playing in front of the Autzen Zoo against a stunned LSU team.

Sun Devils embarrass Tigers in 51-0 route

Vontaze Burfict had another big game with a sack, 2 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery

In what came as quite a surprise to everyone, the 25th ranked Sun Devils look to be moving up the polls after thrashing the 21st ranked Missouri Tigers 51-0. The game was essentially over at halftime where Arizona State held a 31-0 advantage, despite 4 first half INTs from QB Brock Osweiler (20/35, 283 YDS, 4 TD, 4 INT). The Sun Devils once again got big games from both HB Cameron Marshall (6 CAR, 137 YDS, TD) and Deantre Lewis (13 CAR, 111 YDS). Arizona State also got their first big game of the year from WR Mike Willie (7 REC, 127 YDS, 2 TD), and another solid performance from T.J. Simpson (5 REC, 49 YDS, TD). Missouri on the other hand struggled on offense, with their play at QB being shaky at best with James Franklin (12/27, 117 YDS, 2 INT) and their leading rusher having 4 yards.

Arizona State got off to a good start with a stop on defense and a quick field goal. On Missouri's next drive, they would fumble away possession and RE Junior Onyeali returned it 22 yards for a TD to give the Sun Devils an early 10-0 lead. After a Missouri interception on the next drive, the Sun Devils would strike with their first offensive touchdown on the last play of the 1st quarter with a Mike Willie TD reception. In the 2nd quarter, both teams struggled to hang onto the ball, with Osweiler throwing 3 INTs in the quarter and Missouri fumbling it away twice as well as throwing another interception. But the Sun Devils would extend the lead to 24-0 late in the 2nd with an 80 yard touchdown pass to WR Mike Willie, who outjumped the defender, shed the tackle, and ran untouched into the end zone.

The 2nd half saw a couple more turnovers for Missouri, who just couldn't get anything going on offense all day. Who knows if this was the Tigers offense not playing well, or the Sun Devil defense stepping up. If it is the latter, the Pac-12 South's best defense could be based in Tempe, Arizona. The game was capped with a 93 yard touchdown run by HB Cameron Marshall to put the Sun Devils up 45-0 in the 3rd quarter. A couple FGs in the 4th got the Sun Devils above 50 points and gave them their biggest home victory in over 10 years. Arizona State gets a much needed bye next week in preparation for their week 4 game hosting USC, which should be a dandy.
