    Battle of the Irish Trophy

    #24[IMG] VS #8[IMG]

It's a battle of the logoless helmets! Boston College is coming along very well but will they be able to handle a strong Fighting Irish team?! Boston College averages 46 points a game compared to Notre Dames 38 a game. Boston College had no problem beating last seasons national champs in Jordan Hare, Stadium. Boston College is ranked #2 in passing offense #1 in total offense which shows they don't play around. But they are ranked #99 in total defense out of 119 teams ouch. Notre Dame sits at #3 in passing offense and #2 in total offense so I am expecting a shootout this game. Notre Dame's Cierre Wood seems to be making a name of himself rushing for 200+ yards against MSU and Nebraska. Boston College is ranked #2 in takeaways which shows they play a bend don't break style of defense. My prediction is Boston College in this one folks. Even though they are ranked #99 in total defense I sense them winning 21-17.

Things are already shaping up here in week 5, and two teams still living the dream of being undefeated will face off in an highly anticipated matchup. The #8 Fighting Irish (4-0) will travel to hostile territory to face the #24 Eagles. Coach Spaziani thinks the media has disrespected his squad in the polls, so they will really have a chance to prove themselves against a top ten team.

Boston College leads the nation in total offense with 1,783 total yards, while Notre Dame trails right behind them with 1,725 total yards. Both teams exhibit potent running attacks; ND has racked up 707 yds (#12) while BC has 762 rushing yds (#7). Passing wise, both teams lead the nation. ND has 1,018 yds (#3) vs BC 1,021 yds (#2).

Defensively, it looks as if ND may have the upper hand. They are the 3rd best defense in the nation when it comes to stuffing the run (93 yards), and have only given up 605 yards through the air. BC has given up 245 rush yds (#19) and 900 passing yds (#120). While the Irish may have the edge defensively, they do have a glaring -4 turnover margin (#114). Boston College has a +6 turnover margin (#2). That will be a huge key to this game, can the Irish play smart football and not turn it over?

My prediction is a very hard fought 24-21 Notre Dame victory, with the game winning FG coming in the final seconds. Good luck to both coaches I Peench and The Natural
