Week 7 Power and Coach Rankings

Power Rank Coaches Rank Team Record User Comments[/SIZE][/B]
1 1 Florida 6-0 EaglesIrish Looks like Eagles may be parked in this position for a while.
2 8 Pittsburgh 6-0 KnighNoles Stomped Beazus, has the Panthers playing well.
3 4 USF 5-0 Maxattax Big match-up with Cincy this week. Big East title dreams could be destroyed.
4 3 Alabama 5-1 Dru Not holding the sim loss against him. Kicking ass on the recruiting trail and keeping Alabama in the thick of the National Championship race. The big hurdle standing in the way: Florida.
5 2 Oklahoma 5-0 Marcman Match-up with Texas this week could decide the winner of the Big 12 South. Huge game.
6 6 Texas 4-1 Blaza Tough loss to Florida is the only thing going against Texas, but the game was close. Plays Oklahoma this week.
7 9 Cincinnati 5-0 GoGators Cincinnati has had a few close games so far, but GoGators will look to keep them perfect vs Matattax and the option attack of USF
8 NR Kansas State 6-0 Hokie Effect Hokie has gone through half the season undefeated, but still no love from the Coaches? If the Wildcats win this week look for them in the top 25 next week.
9 18 Nebraska 4-1 Hippo Nebraska has got back into a good rhythm since the early season loss to Oregon.
10 14 LSU 4-2 Mcyork LSU is a very talented team, but Mcyork has had 2 tough user losses. He looks to get back on track this week vs Boise State.
11 NR Notre Dame 3-2 Beazus In his first game as coach, Beazus was manhandled by KnighNoles. He is not a popular guy in South Bend right now. Look for Beazus to hang 100 on Louisville this week to get some redemption.
12 NR Tennessee 3-3 Recchem Tennessee has a bye this week and they will need it to prepare for the tough games ahead of them as they enter SEC conference games.

This week is complete with Coaches Poll rankings and my first week of Power Rankings. I tossed them in there based upon record, how it seems the teams are performing in games (team strategy, style points), and the team's outlook for the season.

    # 18 Nebraska - 49
    Texas Tech - 14

Roy Helu had another stellar game, running for 151 yards and 4 TDs on 22 carries. The real story of this game was the Nebraska defense however. The D-Line put a ton of pressure on Taylor Potts, twice knocking him out of the game for brief amounts of time. In total the Cornhuskers held the Red Raiders to 163 total yards (173 passing, -10 rushing). Once again, the 2nd team received a ton of playing time, as Coach Hippo yanked the 1st teams midway through the 3rd quarter.

The Bama defense shows up for the first time since week 1, holding the Gamecocks to 201 yards and 10 first downs. McElroy continued his strong play at QB, with 243 yards and 4 TD's, although he did throw 2 INT's. All 4 TD's went to Julio Jones, who had 6 catches for 159 yards. Ingram had 122 yards on 18 carries, and Terry Grant came in during the 2nd half to add 60 yards on the ground.

This game was over in the first half. The Gators got out to a 35-7 half time lead. Tebow lead the troops to a TD on the first possession of the second half and then coach Myer decided to give the ball to "The Future" John Brantley.

    Kansas State- 28
    Texas A&M- 27

The Wildcats were able to hold off the Aggies in a back and forth game, highlighted with several turnovers including defensive TD from both teams to start the game. Kansas State was led by Chris Cooper who combined for 352yds 2 TD in the air and ground. Brandon Nanks continue to be the big play reciever with 5 rec 131 yds and a TD catch of 78yds. The defense gave up alot of yards today but key turnovers and stops on 3rd downs was the difference. The Wildcats improve to 7-0 on the season with a big matchup with Oklahoma lurking. Lets hope next weeks game against Colorado isn't a trap game.

Going into Friday night, the following games are open:

Cincy vs USF - Playing tonight
Texas vs OU - Unsure of schedule
    LSU vs CPU Boise St
    Pitt vs CPU Rutgers
    ND vs CPU Louisville

Looks like an early advance is unlikely, and we will advance sometime tomorrow night as planned.

USF blasts Cincy in Tampa 42-17

The Bulls charged into this game with a top 5 ranking and an undefeated record. Cincy came into this game ranked #9 in the country and was undefeated as well, but only one team could leave and still make their claim as one of the unbeatens. USF came out firing and scored the fist points of the game on a TD pass from back-up QB B.J. Daniels. Daniels came in on a 3rd and long, after Grothe had to leave the game momentarily to nurse a stinger, and rifled the ball over the middle to Carlton Mitchell(6'4 212lb) who took it 49yds to the house. After some more back and forth between the two teams the score would be 14-10 and USF would have the ball as the second quarter was ending. With almost no time left on the clock, Grothe dropped back and hit Mitchell on a deep fade route. Mitchell would climb the ladder and make the contested TD grab pushing the score to 21-10 before half.
The 3rd quarter would be controlled by USF and the Bulls would extend their lead by 2 TDs. One came on a Red Zone PA pass to the TE Busbee, and the other would come on a 60yd TD run by Grothe (couldnt get the vid). This year Grothe has been putting together a highlight reel that would make Reggie Bush jealous... Watch out for him to be in the mix for the Heisman by season's end. With 3:29 left in the game, USF's WB Jamar Taylor would take an option pitch and dart 42yd to seal the game.

The real story of the game though, would be the USF defense. In all the Bulls compiled 11 sacks, 7 of which came from impact RE George Selvie. That would make for a new NCAA single game record and definitely kept Pike out of rhythm. At least out of rhythm enough to keep the powerful Cincy offense from lighting up the scoreboard too bad.

This one was a huge win for the Bulls who remain perfect in conference play. Next week they have to travel to Pittsburgh to take on the undefeated Panthers.

Selvie treated our LT like a revolving door. It was disgusting, the tackles a 91 overall and couldn't lay a hand on Selvie. I got very frustrated with my team and that cost me as this one was over well before the clock reached zero.

    ***Breaking news***
A video of the Bearcats LT has been released from the Friday night before the USF game. Guess he wasn't home getting rested and prepared for Saturday's game like he should have been.
