Notre Dame Escapes Another Upset in SOuth Bend

The Broncos of western Michigan entered South Bend to battle the Fighting Irish. Senior QB Drew Burdi completed 24 passes for 324 yards and three touchdowns but had two critical interceptions in the overtime period as Western Michigan fall short 31 - 38. Burdi connected with seven receivers on the day once again fellow Senior Chleb Ravenell was his favorite target as he was able to find soft spots in the Irish zone to haul in nine catches for 130 yards all three of Burdi's TDs. The defense played well considering the talent mismatch with Notre Dame QB Dayne Crist and company. But they were able to put Crist on the turf three times on the game for sacks and had numerous other hits on Crist causing errant passes. Game MVP for WMU was Damond Smith, the true sophomore intercepted Crist twice on the afternoon, including a 76 yard pick six in the second quarter. Next up for WMU is another road game against conference foe Akron.
