38 31 (F/OT) Tigers escape with an overtime win in an instant classic! Mizzou got the ball to open the game and wasted little time. On the second play from scrimmage Blake Copeland took a read option keeper right, got great blocking and outran the hogs secondary for a 70 yard TD. Arkansas would follow with a quick 3 and out on their first chance. Mizzou marched right back and got a second TD, this one a 19 yard strike from Copeland to senior Jake Carr. A few plays later Mizzou CB Trey Scott stopped another hogs drive, breaking off of man coverage to make a nice INT. Arkansas would finally stop the Tigers, blowing up a 4th down try near midfield. Unfortunately for the home crowd, the momentum was short lived. On the very next play Baker would go deep for his HB on a streak, but star SS Greg Tate would come over and make a spectacular 1 handed INT in the endzone to give the ball back to the offense. On the second play of the second quarter, Copeland would face a monster blitz. Staring it down, the sophomore would rifle the ball out to Taylor Edwards on the hitch. Edwards would make the catch, shrug off a tackle attempt from the corner and race downfield for a 61 yard TD, burning the razorbacks on their cover 0 gamble. Down 21-0 in their own house Arkansas didn't panic. Coach WGW took his QB aside and told him to look at the clock. There were six minutes left before the half and the hogs would get possession after the break. Baker would settle in and make a great read on the next drive. Mizzou would take the same risk that Arkansas had taken and Quinton Fowler would make them pay, breaking the press with apparent ease and grabbing a 73 yard TD to make it a 21-7 game. After forcing a Missouri punt the hogs would be back in business. After a slow bits and peices drive burned most of the half away, Victor Thomas would get wide open on a post route against cover 2 and score on a pretty 39 yard play to narrow the lead to seven, 21-14. With half nearing it's end, Blake Copeland would make a couple of huge scrambles when Arkansas dropped everyone into deep coverage, setting up a 51 yard FG to give Mizzou a 24-14 lead at the half. Arkansas would start the second half with the ball, but on a third and long, Baker would make a poor throw and Greg Tate was there for his second pick of the game. The tigers would move the ball some and then find themselves facing 4th and 8 in Arkansas territory. with a slight wind in his face, coach Hennessy wasnt confident sending his frosh kicker out for a 55 yard attempt. Copeland would complete the 4th down pass, but his WR would be dragged down shy of the marker. With new life Arkansas went sack, sack, incompletion, punt. The tigers would drive into the 4th quarter. On a key 3rd and 1 Copeland would find his TE on a pass out of a jumbo set at the 2 yard line. The razorbacks faithful knew this could be the backbreaker and got loud as their team was on the ropes facing a 1st and goal. Mizzou would dial up the goal line fade and would get just the 1:1 look they wanted on the outside, but senior CB Stephen Edwards would make a great play, first by out jumping Jake Carr in the back of the endzone, then running it out 85 yards putting his team in position to get back in the game! With only 22 yards between them and the endzone the hogs offense would finally come alive after taking the 3rd quarter off and Baker would throw his 3rd TD of the game to narrow the lead to just three, 24-21. Galvanized by the shifting momentum, Arkansas would come up big on defense, forcing a 3 and out with a big sack. After taking loss on an option and then a pair of sacks, Baker would get in the zone, first with a 29 yard strike to convert a 4th and 27! Then, he would take an option keeper 40 yards to paydirt for the Razorbacks first lead of the game, 28-24 with just over a minute to play! Copeland would take the field on the road, against the best team in college football, down 4 with a minute left. The sophomore would play well above his age and come out throwing darts, eventually floating a pretty pass just over the broken press for a 21 yard score to Taylor Edwards. Arkansas wasnt done though, first Jason McCoy would make a huge catch in traffic with three tigers defenders on him while taking a big hit. Next a swing pass to the HB would net 19 yards. Finally a smart throw away with 2 seconds left where a sack or forced throw could have ended it. A 35 yard FG as time expired evened things up 31-31. On the first play of overtime, Blake Copeland would connect on a 25 yard TD strike to Allen Benjamin. It was Benjamin's 6th catch of the game and Copeland's 4th TD pass. Needing a TD to stay in it Arkansas would go to the air. After a sack and an incompletion, Victor Thomas would make a great catch on a ball that was nearly picked off, giving the hogs a first down inside the 5. After a short loss on a rushing attempt was followed by the 7th sack of the ballgame by the Mizzou D, the hogs faced a 3rd and goal from the 13. Baker would have all day to throw, but the Tigers had great coverage, finally, scrambling, Baker would throw across his body before taking a hit. The ill advised throw was plucked out of the air by the tigers to preserve a hard fought victory. Great game whygodwhy1111 When you got that 4th and 27 then immediately scored I thought for sure you had gotten me again!
Canes Play Best Game of Season defeat Florida State 35-14 The Hurricane offense, which at times this year has been non-existent, was clicking on all cylinders against the rival Seminoles. After a scoreless first quarter, the Miami offense found the end zone five times, only once from longer than 15 yard out. The Canes were able to consistently keep the chains moving by staying in short to-go situations, converting on 7/9 third down opportunities. More impressively, QB Joseph Roberts was pinpoint, completing 19/22 passes on the afternoon, including two for touchdown. Miami's ball-control offense allowed the defense to remain rested while forcing Florida State to press a little to keep with with Miami. After the Canes went up 14-0 midway through the second quarter, the Seminoles answered to close the gap to 14-7. However, a Miami touchdown just second from halftime stopped the Florida State momentum. Then, when Miami extended its lead to 28-7 late in the third quarter, the Canes were on their way to victory. The Seminoles opened the fourth with a score to again close the gap in half, but their inability to stop the Miami offense was ultimately their demise. Kapono, My QB played out of his mind. Converting all those third downs limited your possessions. In want was probably a 10 game losing streak in user games, the monkey had to come off the back at some point. Auburn took control early, as they scored on an Andrews 3 yard TD run. After both teams went 3 and out, LSU got on the board with a FG. Auburn immediately struck back on the kickoff, as Johnson ran 101 yards to the endzone for a 14-3 lead. LSU would come right back on the next drive to score on a Coleman 3 yard TD. Auburn would score, this time with their backup QB. Robbins hit TE Workman, who danced on the sidelines and broke a tackle in for 6. LSU's next drive would result in 6. Graves went up for a pass against the safety, who went for the interception, but missed. Graves ran past the safety who was out of position for a 39 yard TD. It was 21-17 Auburn at the half. LSU would come out with a drive in which multiple people got touches. Coleman, Walden, Burch, Hall, Harris, Wilson, and Jones would all have touches, which ended with Coleman scoring a TD on the ground. On a third and short play, the Tiger's D came up big with a tackle short of the first of a short pass. This forced Auburn to settle for a FG, making the score 24 all going into the 4th. LSU would convert on two critical third and long passes on their next drive. Their first was a completion to Graves which crept over the defenders fingers. The second was a TD in the corner of the endzone to WR Brown. On Auburn's next possession, QB Morris looked to make something happen off the scramble. OLB Morton at first over pursued the QB, but recovered and ripped the ball out from behind, giving LSU the ball back. A FG made it a two possession game. Auburn was able to get a TD, but could not recover the onside kick. GG recchem2000 you got what you wished for in the rain #18 LSU 34 - #16 Aubrun 31
#5 Aggies Run Right Over #4 Canes 38-21 It was a game of opportunity for Texas A&M and they took full advantage of what was given them. Miami simply wasn't able to stop anything the Aggies ran at them, as Lewis rushed for 153 and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries. Qb Muhammad also chipped in with 14 carries for 59 yards and threw it 13-16, 173 and 3 touchdowns (all to his superstar TE Lane) with 0 picks. Meanwhile Miami's Qb Roberts went 10-21 for 251 and 3 tds of his own, but he also threw 5 ints and star running back Sowell had only 6 rushes for 7 yards. As a team the Canes rushed for -13 yards. The game began as a back and forth punting affair, but quickly turned as TAMU turned the field position battle into a 6 yard touchdown pass to Lane. An interception set the Aggies up again and they converted a 3rd and 24 on a jump ball inside the 10 to Goins before Lane caught his second of the day, a 9 yard stop route just in front of the safety for a 14-0 lead. Miami would shank a punt with 11 seconds to go to give the Aggies the ball around the 45, but Miami snuffed the attempt at points. In the second half, Miami came out strong stopping TAMU and marching down the field to finally get on the board and cut the lead in half. But the Aggies would quickly respond, as Lewis took a draw handoff from around the Aggie 25, broke a tackle and ran inside the Cane 35 before he was dragged down. A few plays later he punched it in from 1 yard out and the lead was 21-7. But Miami would respond again, this time a Roberts to Jamison connection from 59 and it looked like we had a game. But it was not to be for Miami, as they gave up another quick drive that saw Lane catch his 3rd TD of the day, a 34 yarder as the Canes sent an all out blitz to stop a 3rd and short and Muhammad just got it off in time as he was being harassed. Lane caught the ball at the 25 and nobody was within 15 yards of him as he strolled in. The Canes tried to respond but a straight up ridiculous interception by one LB set the Aggies up and this time Lewis went to the left untouched for 34 yards to seal it up. GG Boom29 like I said some missed tackles really allowed some big gains for me while the game was close. And I didn't realize I picked you off 5 times! If anything I was worried after looking at your roster earlier that you were going to destroy my CBs with your 98 acc QB. That didn't pan out for you though.
Yes, MWAHAHAAHAA! It's all lining up nicely now! Miami was the one I was really, really worried about but these other 3 guys all give me problems yearly, so not out of the woods by any stretch
Good game. My QB just didn't have the time to throw the ball. It doesn't matter how accurate he is if he can't even set up. Good job running the ball. The play that really did me in was the jump ball to your WR. The 14-0 lead was hard to overcome.
And THAT was the weakness I was talking about. 6'7 vs 5'9 I told myself I'm going underthrow jump ball if I need a big gain. lol
GG Mexi...thats twice now my QB has fumbled late in the 4th quarter costing me a chance to win games...dude needs to stay in the pocket where he belongs!
#3 Aggies Keep the Dream Alive With Stunning Comeback Over #2 Florida 27-26 As the underthrown pass from Arrington fell to the turf on 4th down with 14 seconds remaining, Florida's coach Angel threw his headset and stormed off the field. The "lost connection to opponent" message flashed across the screen at that point . Unfortunately, it was no laughing matter for the Gators, as they failed to secure the victory with just over a minute remaining. After TAMU scored to pull within 26-21, they had to hope for a miracle on an onside kick. What ensued could be called such. The kick went straight to a UF player, but he booted it. However it wasn't far enough that at least 5 other Gators didn't have a shot at it. While they battled eachother for the ball for at least a couple seconds, TAMU came in and scooped it up to set up the finish. Goins came down with a post pattern inside the 5 and 2 plays later Lewis punched it across and the crowd exploded at College Station. Florida would get another shot, but after a 1st down, a drop, a sack then another drop, Florida came up short. The Gators stormed out to a dominant 19-0 first half lead on 4 FGs and finally a touchdown to the TE with just 15 seconds remaining in the 1st half. A&M remained patient but started spreading out the defense and throwing intermediate routes. It worked nicely but they only managed a FG out of a must have possession. Arrington then made his biggest mistake of the game in a throw over the middle that got picked off and returned by LB Davenport to return the Aggies to the football game. After a 2 pt conversion and a FG it was 19-14 Florida. The Gators would drive the field on a time consuming drive that all but crushed the Aggies when Will Baron rolled in from 2 yards away. But then, the finish. GG @SatanAngel1104 you deserved that one. I told you my bball team was getting smashed. As we went through the first half in our game, WSU made a comeback from 19 down to tie the game with 3 minutes left. They lost in the end but the whole time I was totally out of it and was lucky enough to hold you to field goals on my 2 picks. But the pick 6 by my LB gave me hope. That onside was ridiculous but I had 3 other fumbles I could have recovered in the game so I think the odds just evened out or something. I feel like a team of destiny.
LOL we'll just be happy to MAKE the SEC Championship, not necessarily destined to win it (although we feel this is the year we need to take you down, you've won like 7 straight). I'll just say that we shouldn't be in the drivers' seat after that performance last night. But it is NO small task to beat Mexi and Rec in back to backers.
Tigers Mistakingly Go for the Win Late, Aggies Stave Off Attempt 15-12 What an attempt by LSU, but the Aggies did it again, intercepting a 4th and 11 from the 15 yard line to move within one game of their first ever SEC Championship game, with Auburn left. The game started with a 3 and out for LSU, then their punt got returned 73 yards by Patrick Lilly, his first ever punt return for six. Then it was a WHOLE lotta Tigers, as they mushed and mashed their way to a 12-7 lead on two field goals and a staunch defensive effort. A key play happened in the middle of the 3rd quarter, as LSU had to kick their 3rd field goal to take a 9-7 lead on 4th and 3 from around the 36. Lilly got a great jump around the edge and thought he could block the kick. Diving, he may have brushed the kickers pants and got called (a terrible call) for a running into the kicker. Of course the Tigers took the points off and continued the drive, taking another 3 minutes off the clock and finally scoring a touchdown, before failing on the 2 pt, 12-7. LSU then forced TAMU to punt but the Aggies returned the favor. Then came really the only Aggie drive of the game, as they marched in championship fashion down the field, converting a couple of huge 3rd downs, including a 3rd and forever jump ball to Muhammad's favorite target into double coverage for 55 yards. It was only his 3rd catch of the day but it was huge and it was signature for him. He's over 1,100 yards for the season. A FB dive for a TD from 1 yard and then a 2 pt conversion made it 15-12. Then LSU looked like they would take it back driving down the field in unstoppable fashion. It was second down from the 14 when LSU QB Walden took off and fumbled the ball, but it was picked up by an LSU receiver and run inside the 3 for a first down and heartbreak for the Aggies. But the crowd exploded when the referee came out and called a hold on LSU's O-line, taking LSU back. The Aggies held to 4th down with 18 seconds left and LSU's coach MexiRican35 lost himself in the moment, keeping his offense on the field and going for 4th and 11. In the post game interview, he said it was "the ultimate brain-fart" and then just said "Oh well, it was a good game". The LSU faithful has blown up the message boards in anger, but Mexi will coach again. GG Mexi, you played terrifically and had a chance to win if not for that hold. Thought we were headed to yet another OT.
Mizzou looks impressive in a road win...... Florida couldn't get anything going and definitely couldn't catch a break. After a Mizzou INT on the first possession the UF offense would go 3 and out and star HB Barron would break a toe and not return until midway through the 3rd quarter. Mizzou would strike quick afterwards on a 76 yard TD pass. Florida would take the ensuing kickoff for 6..... except that there was a holding call on the play. After a punt, TE A. Rosario would go in motion out wide and nobody on the Gators D would follow him, taking a second to make sure it wasn't a trick or he wasn't having delusions, Copeland would wait a few seconds before snapping the ball and hitting Rosario for a 55 yard TD. Florida would respond with an INT. Florida would force a punt on the next drive, but then the punt would come to rest inside the 1 yard line and LB B. King would go untouched for a sack and safety on the next play. After this it was really academic. Mizzou extended the lead to 30-0 at the half with a couple more TD passes, then would run on every down but one in the second half, finishing the game with a 54-0 victory at the swamp. GG SatansAngel1104
Well that was one bad night for SatansAngel1104 First the date gives him this , then he gets this from Wyrmreaver
Lol nah the night was great Nothing was left off the table on the date. I just had to make the decision of "Do I want to get up at or before 7am on a Saturday" or do i want to go home and play xBox lol. I chose xBox lol. Im EST so it was 130a when i left her place hehe. I dont even remember this game though. Other than the holding call on the kickoff when i was 17 yards clear of everyone. After that it was mostly an "A" "A" fest on defense.
For some reason in my head I was thinking 4 down territory. I felt really stupid afterwards. That jump ball catch was really a key play.
c'mon recchem2000 , I am looking forward to reading about the crushed hopes and dreams of the aggies.....
Arkansas 23 LSU 21 Arkansas Holds on late to clinch the SEC West Arkansas dominated the first half. The Razorbacks moved the ball at will and forced 3 INTs and a few 3 and outs on the way to a 20-0 halftime lead. After stopping LSU on their first drive, Arkansas pounded the ball down the field but fumbled again for the 3rd time in FG range. LSU finally started moving the ball and getting some defensive stops. After LSU's second TD, the score was 13-23. LSU got the 2point conversion to cut the lead to 8. After another stop put together another TD but failed to convert the game tying 2 point try. Down 2 LSU with 3 Timeouts and coming off consecutive defensive stops LSU kicked off. Arkansas managed to throw for 2 first downs to get rid of LSU's Timeouts, then ran the clock down and gave the ball back to LSU at the 10 yard line with 14 seconds remaining. LSU completed one pass but with 1 second remaining could not get off the Hail mary attempts. ( BTW MexiRican35 I think you could have spiked the ball and got another play) gg
There was only one second left. If i would have spiked it, the game would have been over. I tried to time it to where I snapped before time started running without slamming the A button and throwing a quick pass to A. I should have called a better play on that last 2 point conversion. It was a good game.
I would have thought that at least one second would have run off. Chalk another bonehead coaching decision, huh Jayrah?
