#1 Oregon 35 Penn St 28 Oregon score on an terrific individual effort with 14 seconds to go to knock off a scrappy Penn St. team by a TD. The Nittany Lions came storming back and to be honest, this game could have gone in a number of different directions with a play here and a play there. Freshman WR James Gaddis took a 5 yard out on 3rd and 3 from the 45 and broke a tackle, cut back and dragged another defender into the endzone for the score. Penn St got on the board in the first half with a 97 yard run on a great wildcat run that was blocked perfectly. Great game Murk, nice to have some fresh game plans to prepare for.
#2 Florida State - 44 #13 Ohio State - 24 Florida State again wins due to red zone defense. They stopped a goal line stand and turned three possessions into field goals.
Miami: 35 Georgia Tech: 34 Well, now I'm fucking pissed off. I couldn't really stop the Miami offense all game. I was up 3 with about 1:45 left in the red zone and had to settle for a field goal to put me up 6. I had a bad feeling about not getting that touchdown. I kick off and tackle the return man at about the 25 or 30. It took Miami exactly 3 passes to get all the way down the field for a touchdown to go up by 1. I had :50 left to try and do something and my QB who had up until that point been almost flawless threw 4 straight incompletions.
Penn State: 31 #8 Georgia: 14 Penn State improves to 2-3 after a great team performance. Good game BBJ! On offense, it really was a group effort - Freshman Antwaun Watson played a significant role after Travis Wilson was injured completing 9 of 12 passes for 128 yards and a TD. Junior James Wheeler averaged 4.8 ypc after Senior Will Collins was injured, he finished with 2 TDs. And eight different receivers caught a pass, led by Senior Ryan Barnett who had 3 receptions for 85 yards. The defensive player of the game is easy - Junior SS Al Dunbar totaled 6 tackles (TFL), 2 INTs, 2 FFs, and a FR. The defense did a great job of stopping the run game and forcing turnovers (4), and had five forced fumbles (two recovered).
#2 Florida State - 31 #4 Virginia Tech - 24 The CPU just didn't want me to win this week. Even though I put up pretty big yardage, the CPU managed to make a big play whenever they needed it. FSU went down early 7-0 and put a field goal on the board to go 7-3. Florida State then held on 4th down from the 3 yard line and drove down the field, only to settle for another field goal to put it 7-6. We exchanged possessions and then FSU punted, pinning VT on the 1. They then marched 99 yards and scored to make it 14-6. FSU answered back with another field goal to make it 14-9. That is how the half ended. In the second half, FSU lost their starting quarterback for 7 weeks with a torn ACL, and there 3rd receiver for the year with a broken elbow. They did steadily move the ball and scored another FG to make it 14-12. On the next VT possession, their quarterback was hit while throwing and MLB Scott Murphy grabbed the duck and scored to make it 20-14 with the two point conversion. Not to be deterred, VT struck on the very next possesion on a 72 yard bomb to take the lead back 21-20. At this point, I am starting to get very worried. Down to my 2nd string quarterback, I can't do anything on offense. I scored a field goal to go up 23-21, then forced a punt. Backed up inside his 10, my 2nd string QB Adams threw a interception. FSU managed to hold VT to a field goal and went back up 24-23. FSU went out and did what...gave the ball back via punt. So, with 4 minutes left in the game the defense went into rampage mode and hurt the VT starting QB for 8 weeks. The new quarterback was ineffective and punted back to FSU. After my 2nd string QB throwing for a wonderful (sarcasm) 98 passing rating up to that point...I ran the ball....and ran the ball...and ran the ball...right into the endzone, then for a 2 point conversion to take the lead 31-24. Then the backup VT quarterback goes into Robo mode with less than a minute to play...driving down to the 3 yard line, where he throws an interception in the endzone sealing the FSU win. FSU ended up with 5 field goals, a defensive touchdown and a rushing touchdown.
#23 Penn State:27 #20 Ole Miss:6 Penn State puts together great game to get a much needed win! The Nittany Lions are now 3-3 after a dominating appearance vs Ole Miss. The offense faced a tough defense, had a lot of drops and penalties, but came up with key first downs today. Junior HB Wheeler played well in place of the injured Senior Will Collins late in the second half. He punched in a draw play from 9 yards out shortly after being put in the game. The defense played spectacular. Forcing 3 turnovers and holding Ole Miss to only 6 points. Junior SS Dunbar was named one of the impact players going into this week, and he had another solid game with 7 tackles (TFL), and a FF on a huge hit. However, it Senior FS Bryan Adkins who was coming up with all the big plays today. He led the team in tackles, and had 2 INTs, one coming late in the game when Ole Miss was trying to convert a 4th and 6 from 10 yards out and Adkins would return it 102 yards for a TD silencing the Ole Miss crowd!
Georgia 44 FSU 13 31-3 before shaun had to leave.... Defense came on strong causing 5 TO and the offense did their thing. Shaun had to leave right before half, because of his daughter.
Alabama: 38 Georgia Tech: 28 Things were good for the first half. In the 2nd half though their defense was killing me. They sacked me EIGHT times!!!
#20 Penn State: 63 Florida: 3 Blowout as the Nittany Lions win their third in a row! There wasn't anything I could do wrong in this game, the score was rediculous. It's funny, because I was just talking about how the sliders were tough to Bondzai.. The offense played good, but the defense played better. The Penn State defense held Florida to 1 of 11 on third down conversions, and forced 3 turnovers. The offense was 6-6 for TDs in the red zone. Travis Wilson was 16 of 22 for 292 yards, 2 TDs. Will Collins rushed for 109 yards, 3 TDs on 25 carries. Sorry for the high score.
