So. Car dominates on offense, defense is average.

Marcus Lattimore lead the Gamecocks with 38 carries for 218yards and a pair of TDs on S.Car's way to a 31-21 road win at ECU.

Stephan Garcia had an average day throwing and fumbled the ball.

USCe took the early 7-0 lead before falling back 7-14. Taking a 21-14 lead to HT. USCe finally broke loose the stalemate of 21-21 with a Lattimore TD from 9 yards out. Wooten added a FG with 5 seconds to seal the victory.

    Week 1 Summary.jpg

    ===========Notable Stats=============

    QB Ryan Tannehill -
    13-23, 307 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT

    HB Cyrus Gray -
    20 rushes, 110 yards, 2 TD

    WR Jeff Fuller -
    4 catches, 124 yards, 1 TD

    ===========Game Notes=============

*The offense looked productive. One of Tannehill's picks was a fluke, the other was a bad read.
*The defense struggled against the pass and will need to make tweaks before Big XII play.
*Need to get more pressure on the opposing QB

    Hokies Shred Ball St

    52 - 6

The Virginia Tech Hokies may have given up more yardage to the Ball St defense then they would've liked, but they didn't give up many points. Ball St managed 517 yards of offense against VT, 306 through the air, but could not score more than 6 points in the trouncing. The Hokies scored on all facets of the game, offense, defense, and special teams. Ball St attempted a monster 54 yard field goal that fell short. Return man and defender Jayron Hosley fielded the ball at the back line and took it all the way to paydirt. CB Kyle Fuller jumped a Cardinal slant route and took it to the house for the defensive unit. On offense, everything clicked. The run game netted over 250 yards and WR Dyrell Roberts was the player of the game with 5 receptions for 174 yards and 2 TDs, most of which came from on a 41 yard streak and a 74 yard wheel route. Next up for the Hokies, they travel south to take on the ECU Pirates.

Dyer Unflattering To Utah St In 41-10 Route

Dyer Flagged For Un-Gentlemanly Hand Gesture

Auburn took care of business early, lighting up the scoreboard for 28 1st qtr points. Utah St used a pair of fake punts to cut the lead to 28-10 but the Tigers were able to run, run, run and keep the Aggies offense off the field. Auburn ran for 264 yards on 30 carries as a team and were an efficient 7-9 through the air with no turnovers. The defense came up with 7 sacks and 2 picks.

As good as Michael Dyer was (13 car, 129 yds, 2 tds), the game ball went to SR MLB Freeman for his 5 tackle, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 INT return for TD performance.

Auburn (1-0, 0-0) must get ready for SEC play and a road trip to Starkville against Miss St week 2.

    No Contest
Florida State cruises over Louisiana Monroe, 48-17

Greg Reid after a punt return touchdown!

Florida State handled Louisiana Monroe today by winning 48-17. The game started out pretty rough, offensively. Both teams exchanged field goals but LaMarcus Joyner would get the first touchdown of the day as he returned a fumble 12 yards. Greg Reid then returned a punt 62 yards for a touchdown and the Seminoles never looked back. EJ Manuel would get his first touchdown of the year on a 12 yard pass to Willie Haulstead but ULM would answer right back. FSU's Chris Thompson would punch it in with 19 seconds to go in the half.

The Seminoles continued their dominance in the second half by outscoring the Warhawks 17-7. Bert Reed would burn the cornerback and EJ Manuel tossed his 2nd touchdown pass of the game for 62 yards. After a field goal in the 3rd, Will Tye would haul in an 8 yard pass from back-up QB Clint Trickett in the 4th for FSU's final points.

I thought our defense played great. We limited big plays and made the tackles needed to force tough 3rd downs. We forced some turnovers and Greg Reid gave us excellent field position all game whether it was a punt or kick return. I felt that gave our offense a little room to work and didn't pressure them to play nervous. Some great things came out of this win and we have some things we need to work on as well. We host the Oklahoma Sooners next week so we'll take what we learned from this game and try to apply it.

WR Bert Reed 3 REC, 95 YARDS, 1 TD

The Florida Gators left no doubt in the season opener beating FAU 63-3. The Gators racked up over 500 yards of offense and picked off FAU 7 times, 3 of which were returned for scores. The Gators totaled 400 yards on the dot rushing with Jeff Demps and Mike Gillislee going over 100 yards. Chris Rainey rushed for 93 and had a 37 yard TD reception. DogFight Too The End as Tide Prevails!!

T-Town- In what was too be a warmup turned into a dogfight to the end for Alabama as they prevailed 28-21 over Kent St. Kent St showed up playing like a 6 Star School as they Gave Bama all they could handle in this game. Fans Packed BDS ready for the ballgame as the game kicked off. Bama did nothing as they went 3&Out on their 1st possession and Kent St took the ball and drove the field and then Menzie stepped in front of a pass intended for the Fb and took it to the House for a 7-0 Bama lead as BDS was rocking. Then just as quick Kent St responded as Hurdle slipped a tackle and was gone for 71 yrds and KSU tied up the game at 7. Then Later in the 2nd quarter Kent st got a drive together and took it in for a td with Keith finding his wr on the endline of the end zone for a 14-7 Ksu lead. At HT CoachThomas preached getting it together and finishing the game as Ksu's defense were giving the tide all they could handle as TR only had 30 yrds rushing and McCarron was 1-8 for only 8 yrds at this point.

2nd Half was a battle as the 14-7 Ksu lead held til the fourth quarter as the Tide was driving to end the 3rd. The running game was clicking as the O-line started to dominate the d-line of Kent st as Tr started to find holes for big gains. Then the Tide got down to the 5 yrd line of Kent and the D held the line 3 times. Then with the 4th quarter starting Tide faced 4th down and goal. CT decided to go for the Td and a Handoff to TR and he scored from 3 yrds out and the Tide tied the game at 14 all. Then later in the 4th. Keith found on a bomb his reciever Pressley and he took it in for a go-ahead score 21-14 Kent St. Then the Tide got the ball. On 1st down McCarron was sacked and then on 2nd down McCarron found Fresh D-White for 80 yrds and the game was tied again at 21. Then Kent st got the ball back and Keith dropped back to pass and tried to find his rb and the ball was tipped by Hightower and picked by Johnson and The Tide was in Business in Great field position. Then the Tide just wore down the flashes defense as they drove it down to the 1. Then McCarron dove in for the go-ahead td with 3 sec left on the clock. Then the Tide just squibbed it and the clock ran out on Kent St's Hopes for an Upset.

CoachThomas had this to say "We have alot to work on. We were very Lucky to come out with a win in this game and will have to bring our A game next week vs Penn St. Its never said that this schedule was going to be easy. we are going to earn our stripes everytime. we have to be better prepared then this".

TR was the Player of the Game with 29 carries for 139 yrds and 1 td.
Injury News hit hard as Maze was injured in the 1st Half and is out for 9 weeks due to a broken collarbone.

#2 Tide is 1-0 and Faces Penn St next in Happy Valley.

    Clemson dominates at home, 62-31

The Tigers came out firing on all cylinders at home today against Central Michigan. The defense would force 5 turnovers and would score a TD of their own. Offensively the Tigers had great balance going, rushing and throwing for over 200 yards each. Two QBs would combine for 4 touchdowns after QB Boyd got hurt in the first half. Luckily, the Tigers really relied on the legs of Andre Ellington. Ellington had 219 yards and 2 TDs on the day.

    Slow Start
    Florida State dominates 2nd half.

Not a very impressive performance by the Seminoles in this one as they got off to a slow start. Adjustments were made at the half and they paid off in the second part of the game. We are going to have to be smarter next game or it could get ugly as the Oklahoma Sooners come to town.

EJ Manuel made some bad reads and decisions which resulted in 3 interceptions. He settled down and ended up with 4 passing touchdowns. Our run game couldn't get going early on so we were forced to throw a little more than we wanted to. About 3-4 false starts also contributed to long downs.

The defense gave up some big plays but were stingy on 3rd downs as Arkansas State went 1-10 on 3rd down conversions. We kept our offense on the field as we doubled time of possession which rested our defense having them fresh and fast.

    OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE GAME
HB Chris Thompson 22 ATT, 106 YARDS, 1 TD
WR Willie Haulstead 6 REC, 111 YARDS, 2 TD
WR Rodney Smith 4 REC, 62 YARDS, 1 TD

The Vols controlled the game and the clock with the running game. Tauren Poole and Rajaun Neal had a good day running. Poole had 149 yards before leaving with an injury then Neal added another 107 on 16 carries & 4 TD's. The defense played decent against the Bearcats high intensity hurry up offense. Tyler Bray was 12-18 for 250 with both Wr's Hunter and Rogers having a big day, but no TD's. Kicker Michael Palardy missed (2) easy FG's. It's Florida Week Now.

    Unconquered
    Seminoles smash Sooners 35-23

Huge statement for the Florida State Seminoles as we knocked off the #1 Oklahoma Sooners in convincing fashion. The game was fairly close, 21-10 going into the 4th quarter. We saw something unique in our team today. The Sooners would score to make the game 16-21 and went for 2. We stopped that and answered right back, never looking back. Some teams fall apart as they see their lead slip away but not this squad. They pulled together and punched the Sooners right in the mouth. OU couldn't handle that type of physical play and it showed all game long. Rodney Smith, standing at a massive 6 feet 6 inches, shrugged corners off and grabbed 3 receptions for 52 yards. 2 of his catches were touchdowns in the endzone in which he embarrassed his defenders. Our defense blanketed the OU offense, the high-powered no-huddle offense. We were way too fast for the Sooners. Chris Thompson rushed for over 100 yards, his 3rd straight. He also added 2 touchdowns to this resume. EJ Manuel was talked to during practice all week. He was told to be more cautious with the ball. He did just that today and it paid off. Manuel went 12-14 for 228 yards. The biggest stat, his touchdown to interception ratio, 3:1. A solid performance that will and has shocked many.

So. Car explodes on Vandy, Wins 62-14

S.Car opened the day on Ashlon Jeffery's 94yrd KOR for 6.

Then Stephon Gilmore brought back a punt 40 yards to set up Wooten's 38yrd fg

Then the big man Marcus Lattimore would punch in 2 TDs from 1 and 2 yards out.

So. Car put up a 24-0 lead to round out the 1st holding Vandy to just a meir 22 yards.

The So Car Offense cooled in the 2nd getting a 28yrd FG from Wooten.

And then the defense stood tall, from the 5 yard line Vandy threatened to score with 25 seconds left. When Larry Smith dropped back to pass he was hit by RE Robertson and forced a Fumble which was picked up and housed 89 yards by LE Taylor.

    34-0 at the break.

Ashlon Jeffery would get a 7yard TD catch from Garcia on a slant to go up 41-0

Finally vandy would score with 22 seconds left in the 3rd on a 17pass from Smith to Krause.

Again Jeffery would pull in another TD catch this time from 57 yards out.

    48-7 headed into the 4th.

Lattimore would be sidelined for the day after racking up 2TDs and 150 yards on 31 carries.

Kevin Miles would come and rip Vandy for 82 yards down the left side line making some good moves to get to pay dirt.

Vandy would answer later in the qtr with a 12 yard pass from Rodgers to Norman.

So. Car would finish their scoring when Garcia Plunged into the endzone from 2 yards out on a sneak

    Final 62-14

So.Car moves on to face Auburn at home. Should be a very good battle of 2 ranked and well coached teams.
