Buckeyes stand strong against first target
Akron goes home after a dismal 41-19 blowout

Ohio State hosted Akron for their 2011 season opener. We got off to a decent start and cruised to a 34-0 lead at which time the second stringers came in. Akron finally scored to put some pride back in their minds. Then the shitty CPU would try to fuck us by nabbing 2, yes, 2 onside kicks and make it 34-19. Jaamal would find the paydirt on a 26 yarder to make it 41-19 and keep Akron away from any stupid comeback.
Terrelle Pryor had a pretty good game going 10-11 for 175 yards with 1 touchdown through the air and 1 on the ground, no interceptions. Boom Herron would carry the ball 21 times for 86 yards and 1 touchdown while Jaamal Berry carried 9 times for 61 yards and 1 touchdown. Devier Posey was TP's main target catching 4 balls for 85 yards and Chris Fields caught TP's only touchdown on a corner route in the end zone. Very good start to the year as we look to get better but face a much tougher test week in Miami.

MICHIGAN WINS BIG OPENER VS OREGON 24-9

Michigan kicked off it's 2011 campaign with a huge confidence building win against the Oregon Ducks. The Michigan defense played a bend-but-don't-break game as they only allowed Oregon 9 points on 4 red zone trips. "That was the story of the game," Coach Radio said after the game. "We gave them some turnovers, but our D rose to the challenge when they had to".

Michigan scored on it's first drive when Robinson threaded a pass to WR Odoms from 15 yards out. The teams traded FG's to round out the first half scoring, 10-3 Michigan. Oregon could only muster 2 FG's off 2 Michigan turnovers in the 3rd to cut the lead to 10-9.

Michigan puts together a nice drive that seems to end when Robinson gets banged up and heads to the sideline. Backup QB Gardner, who got plenty of playing time last year, would connect with TE Kroger on a 16 yard TD pass on his only attempt of the game. After another Michigan stop, DRob would come back into the game and lead the game-sealing drive with his feet. Robinson would bust loose on a designed QB keeper for a 20 yard TD run to ice the game 24-9.

Robinson was named POG as he totaled 157 yards passing with 1TD and 1INT and rushed for 110 and a TD on 14 carries.

Michigan hosts Boise State next week in the Big House.

GG onaradio. Bend but don't break defense was right...truely frustrating the amount of yards and first down I accumulated and all I could muster were FG's. Robinson is so tough to cover!!!

Penn State is out of gate slow, but ends up winning 42-24

Even though the Nittany Lions started off slow, QB Robert Bolden began his season with a bang. Bolden was 20/31 for 258 yards and 5 Tds through the air. He added 4 carries for 67 yards and 1 Td. LB Khari Fortt added to his hype with 1 interception and 1 FF. The fumble completely swung the momentum for PSU, and they wouldn't look back after the turnover.

The Nittany Lions got out to a 14-10 lead, but right before halftime Buffalo added a touchdown to go up by three 24-21. Penn State would shut Buffalo out in the second half, and Bolden threw a touchdown pass to 5 star freshman TE Derrick Robinson. After the score to Robinson, the backups came in and finished the game, and the Nittany Lion fans exhaled..

UCLA Wins A Shootout in Houston, 34-30
WR Rosario Has 95 Yards in the Victory
    [IMG]
HOUSTON-- There are high expectations for Coach Jam and his UCLA Bruins coming into the season, and it almost came crashing down on him before it began as their game against Houston went down to the wire. Things looked especially grim as Houston came firing right out of the gate, controlling the first quarter while scoring 10 points to put the Bruins in a two score hole. All-American RB Franklin was having trouble finding holes in the running game and would be battling injuries all game, as most of the pressure would be put on Redshirt JR QB Kevin Prince to lead the comeback.
In the second quarter, UCLA finally woke up with a slick 15 yard scamper by Franklin for a touchdown after a couple of sharp throws by Prince. Yet Franklin would be injured on the play and sidelined for the next series. Unfortunately, the Cougars marched right down the field methodically, capping off with a touchdown run of their own. With Franklin sidelined for this drive, Prince found Rosario on a curl route who broke a tackle and ran 61 yards for the score (pictured above). Both teams would go back and forth for the rest of the half, going into halftime tied at 24.
UCLA would receive the opening kickoff, but the offense would sputter initially. Then at a very unlikely time, the most important play of the game happened for the Bruins. On the ensuing punt, the Houston punt returned elected not to fair catch and was absolutely obliterated by the gunner for UCLA, causing a fumble which would be returned 30 yards for a touchdown. At this point, with the lead, the Bruins played a bend but don't break defense coupled with a ground and pound running game that lead the way to the 34-30 victory.
Player of the Game: Nelson Rosario; 5 Catches, 95 Yards, 1 TD.

Trojans win Opener, 38-28 over Minnesota

LOS ANGELES- Matt Barkley threw for 293 yards and Marc Tyler ran for 147 as USC dismantled Minnesota 38-28. The Trojans offense was in mid-season form, gaining 458 yards and never punting. The defense did give up 319 passing yards to Gopher quarterback MarQueis Gray, but most was gained in the fourth quarter when the issue was no longer in doubt.

    Purdue loses to TCU

    [IMG] [IMG]

Purdue wanted a challenge to see where they were out the gate. They found out that the boys from Texas Christian tote more than Bibles. TCU dominated the Boilermakers and turned them into a 1 dimensional team. Marve threw for 400 but was not efficient . Purdue did gain some experience and are looking forward to moving ahead with their season. Marve threw 3 Td's to 0 picks however as the Boilermakers had 0 turnovers on the day.

Coach Sdid: It was tough out there today. We were slightly overmatched and we lost a close games. My boys fought and if we work a lil harder to avoid mistakes and stay in the football game with field position we will be OK.

Montee Ball 4yd Td run for the win
    [IMG]
John Clay killing it in week 1
    [IMG]
JJ Watt picking up a sack on a crucial 3rd down
With just 42 seconds left in the game, Wisconsin RB Montee Ball plunged into the endzone from 4yds out to give Wisconsin the lead and win. The Badgers running game carried them to all 35 points. The big story surrounding the game was the return of John Clay. In the offseason it was rumored that Clay was going to skip his Sr season and play football on Sundays. After a meeting with Coach G-Force-28, his mind was made up to comeback and try to lead the Badgers to a Big Ten title and a possible Heisman trophy. Clay definitely lived up to the week 1 hype rushing for 186 yds on 24 carries and adding 2tds. Another story line to start the year was how would Curt Phillips do taking over for Scott Tolzien. Phillips adds another dimension to the offense with his speed. He showed that early in the game as he scrambled for a 20yd td run in the 2nd qtr. On the defensive side of the ball, JJ Watt was the star of the show. Late in the 3rd qtr he made a statement after the Badgers went tied it up 21-21. That following drive he had back to back sacks on 2nd and 3rd down. He would add another sack in the 4th qtr too. Watt is hoping to garner some national attention this season and if he keeps up that kind of performance he will be playing on Sundays. Next up for the Badgers is another road game as they travel to play Oregon St.

    Frustration.

Well not much to say but ouch. I am glad I am done with Bama. 63-42 was the final and I was down 42-14 before halftime. Both Robert Bolden (10 wk) and Stephfon Green(6wk) were both injured in the loss. Basically Bama took my ass to the woodshed. Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron shredded the Penn State secondary for over 300 yards..McCarron also added 91 yards rushing and pretty much placed himself at the fore front of the Heisman Trophy. The killer for the Nittany Lions was giving up 35 points in the second quarter. Bama HB Richardson gained 190 yards...I hope none of you take on this team...argh!

Boise D Blitzes Its Way to Win

    Frustration Part II

Kellen Moore went 19-22 for 328 yards and 3 TD's against a very suspect Michigan secondary. It was the Boise D that led me to almost have to go buy a new controller. Bump and Run with nano-blitzes on every play...ugh. Michigan goes down 35-30.

Oregon Breaks out of Their Offensive Coma, Wins 45-35 Against Nevada

Down 7-21 and punting the ball once again early in the second quarter, one had to wonder about what was going through the Oregon players' minds. "There were a lot of players pointing fingers at one another and shaking their heads," said coach nrg_qbz. "This team will never quit on my watch. I won't allow it." The Ducks would start firing on all cylinders as they scored 31 straight points from the end of the second quarter to the middle of the fourth quarter, as the stunned home crowd looked on. Nevada continued to get open looks through the air, but were punished as soon as their WR's caught the ball, as evidence by the 5 fumble recoveries by Oregon. "That was some hard hitting out there man," said CB Cliff Harris. "After we fell down, coach just challenged us to turn things around and we responded."

For the second straight games, Darron Thomas and LaMichael James missed portions of the games due to injuries, with James missing the entire game early in the second quarter. However, highly recruited sophomore Lache Seastrunk stepped up his game by rushing for 81 yards and 2 TD's on 18 carries. Darron Thomas completed only 12 passes, but three of them ended in the endzone. After a miserable season the year before, the Ducks headed into this season unranked. Things did not go well in their last game against Michigan, but hopefully this comeback against Nevada will spark their season.

    Ohio State falls in Miami
Ohio State can't overcome the road crowd, loses 34-24 to Miami.
Well, this was a lesson learned. Keep your composure and never give up. Down 17-0, I thought, what are we going to do? Well, we started by kicking a field goal. Went from there and missed another field goal. Getting key stops was also helpful. Playing every down like it was the last. We made a big comeback and actually led 24-23 but the Canes simply wouldn't have it at home. Looking back at the game, Boom Herron should have definitely had about 5-10 more carries and perhaps Jaamal should have gotten some looks as well. Terrelle just cannot get the job done when it comes to passing. He gets flustered, throws incompletions or interceptions. He threw 4 in this one, early on. He did calm himself down and stayed in the game. Had we not had so many interceptions, this could have been a different ball game. We'll be ready next week.

MArve and Purdue hang on vs Rice.

The Purde Boilermakers got two interceptions for touchdowns in their win vs the Rice Owls. Purdue moves to 1 and 1 on the season. Robert Marve played erratic. The running game continues to struggle. However the big play defense and a strong bounce back game from Justin Siller at WR was enough for the Boilermakers to hold on for the win.

    BOOM!
Columbus is buzzing following a 31-17 win over Stanford.
Talk around campus has been a little down about the Buckeyes following the 10 point loss in Miami. The Buckeyes might have given their fans a change of heart. Just a brilliant game played by both teams but the Buckeyes would make a couple more plays to come out on top. This was a huge game that had several factors to it. The head coaches are long time rivals and the win counts toward the conference challenge going down in BfR.
Ohio State would own the 1st quarter with 2 pick sixes that both defenders made excellent plays on and a big time 61 yard rushing touchdown by Dan "Boom" Herron. Score was 21-3 going into the 2nd quarter. Stanford would score a touchdown and then this game got a little wacky as tOSU would line up for a field goal. Snap good, hold down, kick good but short and Chris Owusu sitting back deep in the end zone would field it and house it for 6. Fortunately, for Buckeye fans, that would be the last score of the day for the Cardinal. A touchdown in the early 4th quarter would seal the deal by Boom. Herron finished the day with 26 rushes for 176 yards and 2 touchdowns.
GG cimmy! Good luck on the Pac 10 race.

John Clay has another big day for the Badgers and it was definitely needed. Trailing 14-10 with 2:28 left in the 4th qtr, Clay punched in his 2nd rushing TD of the day to give the Badgers a 17-14 lead and the win. That would also be another big win for the Badgers to start of the year too. That is now back-to-back weeks where the Badgers get into the end-zone late to seal a victory on the road. John Clay finished the day with 173yds on 32 carries and 2tds. Backup running back Montee Ball has been impressive the 1st two weeks spelling Clay as he is averaging 6.9yp. But to win a Big 10 Championship the passing game needs to come around and so far that has been almost non-existent for Wisconsin. Coach G-Force is really hoping to spread the ball alot more and hopefully get a balanced attack going. Next week will be the Home Opener for the Badgers as they host Northern Illinois.
