Season 2: Signed Recruits + Injuries Thread
Combining the best of both worlds
yeah I got a RB to sign on the dotted line this week go COUGS
My starting qb Krass is hurt. I now start a freshman qb a freshman rb, and about 6 freshmen on defense. This is going to be a long year.
it already has been a long year for you troy lol
Might as well post it here too. HB Sam McGuffie out for 10 weeks. What a shit way to start his first season after transfer. lame!

So far, I have signed two O-linemen, which will come in handy since I graduate quite a few this year.
Alan Baker - 6'5"/265lbs - Dearborn, MI
D.J. Franz - 6'1"/295lbs - Kalamazoo, MI
Update on #1 QB Brady Wynn -
Here is my current QB scenario:
R. Radcliff - JR - 83 OVR - 73 AWR (Even though I have other QBs will close to the same throwing attributes, he wins the job because his composure is a lot better than the others)
A. Westendorp - SO - 79 OVR (he's in the mix, but unlikely he will get the start unless we don't sign Brady)
B Beck - FR - 76 OVR (best overall Freshmen)
Z Ferguson - FR - 68 OVR (scrambler, LeFevour-like)
M Warren - getting redshirted FR - 65 OVR (ok, he's 6'6" though)
If we sign Brady Wynn, I am thinking about redshirting him which would create a pretty good situation. Radcliff would be the outright starter, probably close to 90 overall, and by the time Wynn could play, I could work it like Florida did with Leake and Tebow, but with Westendorp and Wynn. OR, I could do that right into his Freshmen year, not sure how I want to go about that.
picked up another recruit 6'5" 293lbs ATH Josh Brown from UT def a Hog Moly!!!
INJURY!!! Week 8
Star WR Antonio Brown goes down with a minor injury, and will be out for the next 2 weeks.
The game was pretty much decided at the point of injury, so it was really an unfortunate event.
Rice signed another TE out of OK. This guy isnt 6'7 like the ones I have right now, but he is more balanced and should see playing time next season. Ill put up some of his stats later.
Tyler Dean - 6'5" 320lbs - Midland, Michigan
About that TE...
Tahlequah, OK (same city I got one of my TEs from last year)
He is very Balanced all throughout his stats. He is listed as a blocking TE even though he has B- speed and D+ pass block(dont really need him to pass block). Nate could end up #1 or #2 on the depth chart next season. We shall see! Between Nate and the Twin Towers I recruited last year, I think Ive sewn up the TE spot at Rice for the next 3 or 4 seasons.
Also Rice signed another prospect earlier in the year.
Joe Rawls, a 6'5 265lb DE out of Nederland, TX who could start next year unless some of the upperclassmen make big strides during the offseason.

Thank you Rocky Mountain state!!!

Well, we lost the #1 QB to Notre Dame...maybe after sitting a couple seasons he will realize the mistake he made and transfer to CMU.
On the other hand, I added a few hopefuls, just like him, that could be the difference between a conference championship or not next season.
Although, with my starting QB coming back next season (most likely will be rated in the 90s) and my current Freshmen scrambler.. I think I'll be alright.
Rory Thomas - 6'7" 220lbs - Shields, Michigan
6'7 seems to be the magic number with TEs in 2010...
Shouldnt these guys be playing basketball? haha
None. How in the world is this even possible at this point? I'm #1 on quite a few guys' lists, but can't get a single guy to commit. At least I've got some underclassmen who will be sticking around. Commit already, people!
I bet someone is negative recruiting against you
After a call from Coach Max today, Chris Munoz decided to pursue a degree and football career at Rice.
Chris is a balanced FS who played multiple positions in HS. He fills a need, and will no doubt be competing with Tremaine Walton for the starting FS job next season.
Coach York when asked about SS Chris Munoz said this "Who?(when told he was a SS that was going to Rice)oh that kid yeah we looked at him he couldn't make our practice squad so we didn't offer."
JK nice get. I have been looking at my team and my defense I am going to switch DC in the offseason and go to a 3-4 base with a couple of moves were I get bigger in the middle and quicker on the outside. I like the diversity that the 3-4 gives me.
Houston gets another recruit to sign on the bottom line. #56 WR Corey Woods a 6'4" 188 lbs speedster out of Waco Tx. Coaches think that he will contribute in year one. Coach York had this to say "You can't teach speed and size and Corey has both. We will look for him to qualify early and be here for spring practice."
If I could ever get the players for it, I think a 4-4 would be awesome to run. Is that still in the game? lol.
Have to have blazing fast LBs and DBs across the board though.
Tulsa loses only 2 starters...but we're still recruiting :HoosierHoo:

Three commits and a handful on the way after the visit our recruits had when we blew out Western Michigan 52-7!
Kenneth Williams - 6'3" 275lbs - Westland, Michigan
Kevin Roberts - 6'1" 205lbs - Houghton, Michigan
Kevin Bryant - 6'1" 200lbs - Harrison, Michigan
2010 Recruits Signed
Lonnie Williams JC
This week I got 3 more verbal commitments and 2 more soft commitments.
This class looks to have quite a few ballers in it. I am excited to see how they turn out.
Big recruiting news out of Houston.
Rice filled 2 spots of great need over the weekend, WR and FB.
Rice also bolstered it's O-Line signing a Guard from the great state of Texas.
The WR is prospect Tony "Colonel" Sanders. Sanders hails from Windsor, Canada and was a Curling champion in his hometown. His skill set is slightly above average, with his blazing straight line speed being the cherry on top. He should see playing time next season.

The signing of FB Blake Brown raised some eyebrows around C-USA. Brown was not recruited by any team, FCS included, but was strongly pursued by Rice. Blake is only a recruit, and played his ball in Belle Haven, VA. Not only does his ranking seem strange, he isnt the prototype FB either. He stands 6'3 and weighs in at 202lbs, but most of that 200lbs is carried in his upper body. Coach Max apparently likes what he has seen from Brown, and has stated that Brown will be the only FB Rice recruits this year. Look for him to immediately take a major-role in the Rice offense next season.

Bryan Mills Mineral Wells, TX
*Run Block STR B+*
Mills will most likely take a redshirt, but will surely become a stalwart on the Rice O-Line in years to come.
