Bama escapes against Iowa 21-14...Jesus I played like garbage. Defense came up huge in this one with 4 picks, one returned for a TD. Run game was non- existant as Iowa shut me down. Not the way I wanted to play going into next weeks game with Ole Miss but it looks like Jayrah has some issues too address as well.

I went into OT against the Volunteers. Their defense played amazing. Then they scored two TD in the final minute to force OT. After Driskell went 1TD 5Int we hit the ground with rookie TJ Herron for 2 scores in OT.

    LSU 31
    VT 9

The Tigers salvage their season with a big win over a top 10 team on the road. The coaches dialed back the game plan to help out their frosh QB vs a great defense, relying on the running game and the defense. The game started out slow, as LSU failed on a 4th and 1 from the 37 on the opening drive, which led to the Hokies driving downfield in methodical fashion for a 3-0 lead. The Tigers would come back with a TD drive of their own, and convert a FG off a VT interception for a 10-3 lead at half. The 2nd half was really decided by the LSU defense which would get 3 more INTs. Good game Boom29, you won the battle of the sandbaggers. ;)

    GT 38
    Notre Dame 21

Game started well for GT who forced a stop, then broke their first play 87 yards for a TD. Nortre Dame cut the GT lead to 21-14 before halftime. GT kicked a FG to start the second half. Notre Dame answered with a TD and forced a stop but GT stopped there final few drives and converted the short field to run away with it late.

    NOTES:

    * I really enjoyed the connection we had, its probably unfortunate for Wyrmreaver , but my team plays MUCH better when I have a few extra tenths of a second to read the option and pitches are much easier to throw without risk of a fumble. Its pretty much the worst when I press the pitch button then watch disaster a quarter second later. I have alot of trouble forcing east coasters out of focusing the QB. I think neal might have focused the QB for one series, it did not go well for him.

** When these Amazing blocking WRs I started with are gone, my offense may take a turn. GT roster started with all WRs having high 60's Run Block, seems to be impossible to duplicate without converting TEs.

*** I am getting pretty stressed out while playing lately, Needs to take a chill pill.

**** I don't know if the 335 is overpowered against balanced formations, but if you put 3 of your 4 non-ballcarriers (RB/TE/WR) blocking on the same side of the field you can destroy it with the run. That poor weak side SS is WAY out of position and if the FS misses or gets blocked, huge plays happen.

Yeah, I've noticed that. My freshman WR who is a 79 or 80 OVR is an awful blocker, like 40 RBK. It was very noticeable on a bubble screen vs VT last night where he just flat out whiffed on a block.

    * I'm glad you enjoyed it at least.....

** who are you, dru? Sandbagger, you already converted TE recruits and I am sure its only the beginning

*** both of us brother, I don't think either of us enjoyed that.... I loved most of our sec matchups last year though

**** given the way bama ram it on me I think it is safe to say that the 3-3-5 is not overpowered as long as you attack it appropriately

As far as the game goes..... Yeah, I had the ball down 3 with three minutes left, can't ask for more.... I felt I did okay against your run game outside of 2-3 large runs, there were just a lot of 4-8 yard gains in there too

I don't think I will be able to run those sweet Post routes with those slow as dirt, no agility TE converts. I will miss having 6-6 WRs that block like TEs and play like calvin johnson over the middle :)

SatansAngel1104 I noticed Florida had more interceptions (5) than rushing yards (-57) :p At least you didn't let ASU come back, holding strong on the 2-point conversion, something I couldn't do vs. Virginia Tech...:(

Running - good, passing - not so much. I seriously don't know why my 2 RS senior WRs suddenly suck balls this season but its making it virtually impossible to pass the ball. I literally may not throw a single pass against South Carolina next week.

No shit... Between sacks and even my HBs not being able to get to the line if scrimmage... We abandoned the run and then the INTs came a flowing. First half was like playing a JV team. Then ASU went nuts on D

    Florida St. 30
    Notre Dame 27

Florida St. opened the game with a 4 minute drive, that almost stalled at the 4. FSU faced 4th and inches, but Devonta Freeman would pound in a TD run. On ND's 1st possession, QB Fountain took and option upfield about 15 yards before making an awful pitch to his HB lying on the ground, FSU picked it up and scored, but clipping took them back to their own 26. FSU put together a FG drive, but Notre Dame stormed back, passing the ball very well and scoring to bring it to 10-7 FSU. Jameis Winston used some magic on his next drive, once dancing around for a few seconds in the pocket, got flushed out, and found Kelvin Benjamin wide open for a 40 yard gain. Then when FSU faced 3rd and long from the 17, Winston danced some more, moving left and only seeing the 6'5" Benjamin standing in the opposite corner of the endzone, 1 on 1. Benjamin leaped and made the catch with the defender doing almost nothing, FSU 17-7. Notre Dame then threw a quick INT on their next drive, only for FSU to return the favor: Winston was moving around in the pocket before finding his #3 RB Mario Pender, who was covered, dropped the pass, and ND somehow got their hands under the ball for a pick. ND threw another quick INT and FSU added a FG with 1:06 left. But that was too much time for ND and they scored a TD before half, 20-14 FSU.

The second half was a little more normal, both teams added 1 FG in the 3rd quarter, with FSU hanging on to a 6-point lead. With 6 minutes left, ND put together a nice drive and looked poised to take the lead, but a HB couldn't pull down a contested catch, and FSU's cover 2 defense worked deep in their own territory, forcing a 26-yard FG, FSU leads by 3. It didn't take long for FSU to punt the ball back, playing conservatively, and Notre Dame got a nice punt return and a 20-yard TD pass with 3:13 left, Notre Dame taking a 4-point lead. FSU's offense was balanced as they drove the field and they even converted a 4th down on the drive. With 2 minuted left, they were in the red zone and needed a TD. So they pounded it up the middle, ND took 1 of their timeouts. FSU faced a 3rd and 3 from the 8 yard line, and Devonta Freeman ran over people to get into the endzone. He was told not to score, but couldn't help himself and set ND up with 44 seconds left, needing a FG to tie. They moved down the field nicely, after the kick return only got them to the 15. Fountain then looked like he had a man deep on a post, but safety Colin Blake had a beat on it in the cover 4 defense. Fountain threw it about 6 inches to deep, and Blake was able to pull it down for the win. GG Wyrmreaver that was a fun one.

    FSU
QB Jameis Winston - 15-20 for 240 yards, TD, INT
HB Devonta Freeman - 10 carries for 37 yards, 2 TD
FB James Wilder - 11 carries for 48 yards
WR Kelvin Benjamin - 3 receptions for 97 yards, TD
WR Rashad Greene - 3 receptions for 73 yards

    ND
    QB Fountain - 17-23 for 312 yards, 3 TD, 2 INT
HB Bowser - 7 carries for 28 yards
WR Kirby - 7 receptions for 137 yards, TD
WR Fisher - 4 receptions for 80 yards

    Florida St. 55
    Maryland 14

Up until 5 minutes left in the game, Maryland was down 55-0, had not crossed their own 40, threw 5 INTs, 2 for defensive TDs and 1 was returned inside the 10 yard line. They had only 60 yards of offense at that point, and the home fans booed them off the field all day. They did manage to put together 2 scores before the game ended. CB Kyle Davis and S Karlos Williams scored defensive TDs and LB Matthew Thomas had 2 picks.

QB Jameis Winston - 15-24 for 183 yards, 4 TD, INT, 6 carries for 22 yards
HB Devonta Freeman - 11 carries for 48 yards
FB James Wilder - 16 carries for 115 yards, TD
HB Mario Pender - 7 carries for 38 yards
WR Kelvin Benjamin - 3 receptions for 77 yards, TD
WR Marvin Bracy - 4 receptions for 33 yards, TD
TE AJ Huggins - 5 receptions for 40 yards, TD

Part of my issue was I was dozing off during the entire game. So tired lol. But yeah if I don't take 11 sacks (including 5 from the LE and 4 from the RE) because my tackles are absolute waste of space, I win the game.

I saw that SC had like 15 sacks against you.....I'm really leaning more towards my idea of not passing against them now.

    WEEK 5
    NC State - 24
    Virginia Tech - 45

    Happy Returns

    Hokies back to winning ways

In what was an otherwise tight contest, two kickoff returns for touchdown by WR Tommy Stephens propelled the Hokies to victory. The first KR TD occured after NC State had tied the game at 14. The second KR TD occurred early in the fourth quarter after NC State closed to within 38-24. When it wasn't Stephens returning kicks for TD, it was HB Gemara Anderson carrying the load for VTech as he finished with 126 yards and 3 TDs on 24 carries.

    WEEK 6
    Virginia Tech - 27
    Miami - 14

    Payback!

    Hokies Overpower Canes

The Virginia Tech Hokies had circled the Miami game for a year, knowing that their loss to Miami the previous season began their tumble down the rankings. It started with an interception returned for TD by CB TJ Ginn, but it was HB Gemara Anderson that again took over the contest. Gemara rushed for 156 yards and 2 TDs on 23 carries and slowly wore down the Hurricane defense. After an even first quarter, Virginia Tech dominated the game, buliding up a 27-7 lead before Miami scored a meaningless TD at the end.

    LSU 41
    SC 14

Like Boom29 and Miami, the tigers had this game circled since the Gamecocks handed them their first loss last year. Like last year, LSU jumped out to a 3 score lead but this time they didn't throw multiple INTs to let SC back in the game.

    [?IMG]Clemson 13
    [?IMG]Virginia 27

Clemson University met the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in an early-season ACC matchup. The game

The first quarter and much of the second quarter were dominated by a very physical Clemson team. The Tigers had an extended drive to open the game and capped it with a field goal. Virginia barely missed a 55-yard field goal attempt and handed the ball back to Clemson who promptly had another long drive for a field goal. Said Virginia Coach Art Vandalay, "we knew they were going to be very physical and strong and I'm proud of our defense for holding them to field goals. It gave the offense a chance to catch their breath and find their groove."

The offense did indeed find their groove, though it was not without some nerve wracking moments. Kyle Brown threw an interception near the end zone, but Clemson LB Seth Atkins promptly fumbled the ball. Virginia recovered and continued their drive, to put themselves into a position for a 3 yard Brian Martin TD run. The Tigers fired right back, cramming the ball back down the field and ending their drive with a short 1 yard James Berg TD run of their own with only 41 seconds left in the half.

The Cavs, not to be outdone, decided to go vertical. Virginia QB Kyle Brown said, "well, we were just trying to move the ball into field goal range, but I noticed that the safeties were in shorter coverage, so I went over the top." Brown found Jerry Johnson for a 62-yard touchdown, giving the Cavs a 1 point lead going into halftime.

In the second half, the Tigers opened their offense a bit more and attacked down field, but were unable to find the end zone. Meanwhile, the Brown tossed a TD to Danny Lumpkin and K Lee Rice added two more field goals to seal the win.

Coach Vandalay after the game: "Clemson is a very good team and they did a phenomenal job of keeping Kyle Brown from hurting them on the ground. Lord knows we tried to get him loose, but didn't have the opportunity. I'm just glad we were at home and had great fan support to help coax us to this win. We needed this one."

Brown ended the game with only 11 yards rushing but had 270 yards passing. Brian Martin picked up the slack rushing the ball for 115 yards. On defense, DT Antoine Mansfield had a breakout game, with 3 sacks.

    Ole Miss - 21
    Alabama - 35

Alabama used 2 first half Mississippi turnovers to take a 21-7 lead into the half. The Rebels did a good job slowing down HB TJ Yeldon for much of the half but QB Blake Sims picked up the slack, throwing for 3 first half scores.

In the second half, both teams moved the ball well but the 14 point lead was too much to overcome for Ole Miss. QB Bo Wallace would end up having a nice game, going 16/23 for 194 yards, but his second int of the game would seal the game for the most part for the Tide.

GG Jayrah Going up 2 scores in the first half was huge for me...allowed me to keep running the ball like I wanted to :)

Yup GG. Too much power running for my 3-4 defense. Need bigger D-line to compete with that defense.

Another Fugly win for the Tide, beating South Carolina 17-10 in Tuscaloosa. I'm not quit sure what the hell happened as I jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead with my QB on fire, hitting on his first 9 passes of the game. Then the wheels came off as I threw 3 picks and struggled to run the ball. Leaning on the defense a lot lately. I hope it doesn't come back to bite us in the ass soon!

    Hokies Wear Down Deacons
    Virginia Tech victorious 35-10

Virginia Tech scored the final 28 points of the game to run away from the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

Early in the contest, the Wake Forest running game gave the V Tech defense fits, leading to 10 second quarter points. Nevertheless, the Hokie offense responded each Wake Forest Score, the last coming with just 22 second until halftime on a 21 yard TD pass that put Virginia Tech up for good. The second half saw the Hokie offensive line begin to dominate as both Gemara Anderson and Luis Roberson cracked the 100 yard mark on the day.

    Notable Stats
    QB Jonathan Pollard - 12/15, 182 yards, 2 TD
HB Gemara Anderson - 21 car, 109 yards, TD, long 20
HB Luis Roberson - 12 car, 101 yards, TD, long 21
    WR Brandon Austin - 5 rec, 107 yards, 2 TD, long 35

No time for a summary now, but the Matthew Thomas highlight tape in on the dynasty wire, 3 INTs, 2 TD, and a sweet sack fumble from the RS freshman to beat Miami 49-17
