Utah Starts Slow, Finishes Strong
Utah got off to a sluggish start against Air Force and fell behind 14-7 in the 2nd. Looking for improved play from QB Jordan Wynn (17 INT's last season), Utah tested the Air Force secondary and only managed 2 INT's for the effort. Near the end of the 2nd qtr however, Utah turned it up and went on a 28-7 run and tacked on another TD in the 4th to win 42-21.
Wynn shook off the early picks to finish 13-17 for 248 yards and 2 TD's. After losing top WR Devonte Christopher to the NFL Draft, Utah was hoping someone would step up. SR WR L Matthews and TE Moeai did just that combining for 8 rec, 176 yards and 2 TD's. HB Palamo picked up where he left off last season with 182 yards on 27 carries and a TD. The defense was stout also after the 1st qtr with 5 sacks and 13 TFL's.
Utah has rival BYU up week 2 and look to get revenge from last year's defeat by the Mormon horde.
FIRST WIN A CLOSE ONE Brandon, Minnesota manages to edge Western Michigan by a hair in season debut.
Kirkwood finds a hole to put the Gophers up 1.
Western Michigan scared the shit out of the Minnesota Gophers' Coaching staff, fans and players. Western Michigan's Tevin Drake went off on the first 2 drives with touchdown runs from 70 and 13 yards out. Quickly, they called on the 6'3 receiver whom we hoped would replace Da'Jon McKnight. He did just that, Xzavian Brandon burst onto the scene as he left WMU's stud CB in the dust on several occasions. The Gophers would find a way to win this one, 22-21.
Marqueis Gray airs it out.

#6 WISCONSIN WINS CLOSE ONE OVER #1 OREGON
MADISON, Wi -- In order to upset the #1 Ducks, the Badgers knew they would have to control the line of scrimmage. Fortunately for them, that is exactly what happened. James White would finish the game with 190 yards rushing on 33 carries to give the Badgers a tight 31-26 victory over the Ducks.

GREAT GAME, TUCO!
Justin Kitchens invades NC QB Bryn Renner as Purdue wins 35-3
All RT Brennan Williams can do is watch as Kitchens has his way; sacking Renner 4 times
Purdue bounces back after a disappointing week 2 loss against Washington with a strong showing here against the #17 Tar Heels. Thanks to the stiffling defense NC could only muster up a field goal as the Purdue offense relied on the running attack to get it done today. Pegram ended the day with 157 yards and 3 scores while RS Freshman Frankie Williams added 74 yards of his own and a TD. The star of the show on defense was Kitchens, who simply made RT Williams look foolish all game, ending with 5 solo tackles, 4 of them sacks, and even grabbing a fumble recovery as well.
Ducks Survive SMU
LaMichael James rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns as sixth rated Oregon struggled with SMU in a 27-20 win. James' 72-yard gallop in the third quarter pushed the Ducks out front for good.
Ballin' in Happy ValleyMichigan wins conference opener against Penn State, 38-13
Michigan came into today's game struggling this year with a 1-3 mark. But today the team was all smiles as they beat the shit out of Penn State. After going down 10-0 things looked bleek for the Wolverines, but QB Denard Robinson led them on a key second quarter drive that ended with a Stephen Hopkins TD run. Denard was efficient on the day throwing 10/14 for 149 yards and 1 TD, he would also rush for an additional 25 yards. HBs Stephen Hopkins and Matt Hicks would combine for 200 yards rushing, with Hopkins gaining 123 on the ground. He would also score 3 times. Defensively, CB JT Floyd made the biggest play of the day by picking of Matt McGloin and scoring in the final seconds of the first half. Some could question why PSU would throw a pass with 5 seconds left, but Michigan will happily take the free TD. Next up is a much needed bye week, followed by another conference foe in week 7.
Michigan/Notre Dame highlight...I forgot to post it
DOWN TO THE WIRE
Matthews Pulls In The Game Winner
Washington and Utah recaptured last year's not so magical 17-16 nail biter with a new level of offensive ineptitude. Utah managed only 187 yards while Wash limped out with 179 with both teams committing 2 turnovers. The difference was Utah's Jordan Wynn was solid but unspectacular with 108 yards on 11-15 passing. The big one was an 18 yard TD pass to Matthews with just over 3 minutes remaining that turned out to be the game-winner. The Huskies were unable to put up anymore points and Utah held on 13-10.
GG G_T_G though we both left much to be desired. 2 games, decided by 4 total points. Nice rivalry.
UTAH D EXPLODES, THEN NEARLY IMPLODES AS UTAH HANGS ON 34-31 OVER OREGON
Palamo Celebrates The Go-Ahead TD
Utah ran it's record to 5-1 (2-1) after a shocking defeat of Oregon. After Oregon made a quick stop and drove for a TD to start the game, it looked as if the #1 Ducks were gonna steamroll the Utes. Utah managed to cut the lead to 7-3 after a FG with 2:30 remaining in the 2nd qtr. Utah got the ball back quickly and went to work with Wynn finding his TE Rodgers on a 32 yard TD pass with 1:20 left. 10-7. The ensuing drive, Utah's best player SS Blechen picked Thomas and housed it with 1:00 remaining. 17-7. True Freshman DE Griffin got into the act with a 36 yard fumble return TD with 25 seconds left. 24-7. Nickel back Payne then nearly made it 31-7 as he picked off another pass but was tackled on the 2 yard line with no time left in the half.
Oregon came out in the 2nd half guns blazing as the previously staunch Utes D was now wilting under the pressure. The 3rd qtr saw Lamichael James score twice as the Ducks cut the lead to 24-21. The teams traded FG's in the 4th before Oreg took the lead 31-27 on a 13 yard TD pass from Thomas to WR White with 1:21 remaining. SR QB Jordan Wynn led the Utes downfield before giving way to Palamo. With under 30 seconds to play, Palamo took a draw up the middle for 6 yards, a TD and the lead. CB Payne closed the game out with another pick that was nearly disaster as he fumbled the ball as well. The ball squirted out of bounds before the Ducks could claim it. Wynn took a knee and preserved the win, 34-31.
Wynn and Palamo were their usual productive selves with Wynn completing 11-18 passes for 216 yards, 1TD, 1INT and Palamo toting the rock 18 times for 79 yards and the game winning TD.
GG tuco418 Don't know where that D came from in the 2nd qtr.
Oregon gets a 23-6 win over Stanford to move to 7-2. Both defenses played very well but the key to the game was six Cardinal turnovers.
DominationWolverines pound Northwestern, 58-10
Hopkins Breaks free on his 81 yard TD run in the first quarter.
The Wolverines came into today's game riding a 5 game winning streak, and coming off a lucky W (Sim) against Iowa. Stephen Hopkins came into today's game being over looked for the Heisman trophy. It all changed on this Sunny Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor. Michigan played its first true complete game this season. The defense forced 4 turnovers, the special teams returned a kick deep into opponent territory, the pass game was efficient and the run game was outstanding. Hopkins would rush for 240 yards and scored 5 TDs, while the Wolverines rushed for over 400 yards on the day between 3 HBs. Next up is Nebraska.
