As soon as their season was over in the NFC Championship game last year, the Rams knew what they had to do in the offseason; improve their defense. Fast forward to the start of this season and this team has been almost entirely revamped on that side of the ball, with DEs Chris Long and Robert Quinn, MLB James Laurinaitis, and SS Quintin Mikell the only starters that survived the offseason overhaul. The Rams came into this game wary of the Bears, who themselves were coming off a strong season, and knew they would need to be at their best to get in the win column.

The Bears lost the toss and were forced to start on offense, and after a couple of nice Matt Forte runs that led to some 1st downs, Jay Cutler dropped back and tried to find Matt Forte in the flats, but ROLB Keith Bulluck was able to step infront of the pass, and take it 34 yards for the TD. 7-0 Rams.

The Rams would use this momentum to get 2 more touchdowns in the 1st quarter. First, Sam Bradford would step back on 3rd and 6 near midfield, and given time by his offensive line, was able to find Danario Alexander in the endzone for a 49 yard TD. That was followed by a 1 handed Quintin Mikell interception off Cutler which set up Steven Jackson's 53 yard TD run to make it 21-0 Rams after 1 quarter.

The Bears were able to get a good drive going, but would once again end up with 0 points as Cutler would be intercepted by CB Larry Washington with the Bears deep in the Rams' redzone. There would only be 1 score in the 2nd quarter, courtesy of a 39 yard FG by Josh Brown as the Rams took the 24-0 lead into the locker room.

The 2nd half was a quiet affair for the most part. The Rams would score a TD off a Brit Miller 2 yard run after some great runs by Steven Jackson, before the Bears would score in the 4th quarter thanks to a 6 yard run by Matt Forte. That would be the end of the scoring today as the Rams emerged victorious 31-7 and look towards their titanic week 2 matchup against the Bengals.
