Season 2 - Week 1 Scores
Week 1 is up. All CPU games.
We will advance no later than Friday night.
The 2 headed rushing monster of Murray and Calhoun led OU to a 40-28 Victory at Ohio State. The 2 combined for 40 rushes for 221 yards n 3 TD's. Bradford threw for 272 yds with 2 TD's and 2 picks. Broyles led receivers with 96 yds on 5 catches with a TD.
I'll get on tonight around 6pm central to play.
Good win, Marc
Arkansas State 31
Auburn pulls one out, led by QB Kodi Burns, who accounted for 3 total tds and over 200 yards total offense. The defense obviously had some problems, mostly due to a little overaggressive playcalling by the new coach. Auburn will be temporarily be joining the Big 12 for the next 3 weeks, as they travel to Norman next week, and then have match-ups with Texas and Nebraska.
Kansas St- 45
Complete summary to come.
OK, as of now, Pitt, Nebraska and Cincy still need to play their games. Hippo mentioned to me that he will play his tonight. Gators/Noles, any chance you guys can play your games tonight?
Also, I want to remind everyone that while I wholeheartedly encourage a team scores thread for your squad, you are required to post a game summary here in the weekly thread (even if it's only a score and a line or two about the game).
This started falling off last year and this first week is concerning. Starting in week 2, there will be a '3 strikes' rule regarding posting game summaries. Basically, if you are not posting summaries and miss 3 of them, you run the danger of being replaced in the OD. It takes about 1 minute to write something up after your game, so I don't think I'm asking too much here.
The ass kicking will commence tonight as the Bearcats unveil their new offensive and defensive attacks.
(idk what the hell I'm talking about, I haven't even looked at my playbooks yet haha)
So let it be written so let it be done. The Bearcats went on the road and collabered NCSU to the tune of 42 - 17. The Bearcats were led on offense by new starting QB Chazz Anderson who went 16/19, 164 yds and 2 TDs while adding 128 yards on the ground. WR Vidal Hazelton in his debut had a great game as well catching 6 balls for 66 yds.
The story of the day however would be the much improved Bearcat defense. Aside from some ridiculous predetermined the CPU is going to score on this play plays, the defense was stout.
#12 Nebraska - 35
#15 Oregon - 7
The defense was really key in this game as the Cornhuskers got some revenge for last year's loss to Oregon. After being down 3-7 midway through the 1st quarter, the D completely locked down the Ducks. Nebraska scored 35 an unconventional way (4 TDs, 1 missed XP, 2 FGs, and a Safety). However, the stats indicate HB Rex Burkhead had 4 TDs and WR Niles Paul had 1 TD.
:dance nana: I'll take an extra TD in the stats column anytime!
Next week, Nebraska looks to kick the shit out of Louisville. Hopefully the offense shows a little more life, and plays smarter, we had 4 TOs.
Texas - 49
Rice - 7
Texas goes on the road and beats up Rice. However, the Coach was not pleased with the effort of his defense as they routinely gave up 20-40 yard drives before the Owls imploded.
VT is coming to Austin next week, and we'd better turn things around
Pitt tunes up for Florida
Pittsburgh breaks in some new talent at QB as Bostick in limited action last year, completed 12/17 for 337 yards 3TDs and INT. The same old story was in the Panthers backfield as Dion Lewis cannot stay healthy as he left for the game after his 4th rush of the game. Shariff Harris took over and ran for 106 on 23 attempts TD. Jonathan Baldwin caught 6 balls for 212 yards and 3 TDs as his longest was a 97 yard TD. Dom DeCicco picked up where he left off intercepting the first pass of the game and collecting 9 tackles (mostly by CPU).
