    WKU 17 Nebraska 0

Western Kentucky went to Lincoln and did the unthinkable. Led by a tough defense the Hilltoppers held Nebraska to 59 yards rushing. The WKU offense was hampered by losing Bobby Rainey on their first offensive play of the game. After losing him they played with great determination and heart. However, their offense at times was sluggish. Sophomore Kawaun Jakes took control with timely passing and even scored the final touchdown of the game on an option run.

The first pic and highlight is the 46 yard catch and run by Doyle to set up the second pic and highlight the 2 yard TD run by Simpson.

Coach said after the game, I knew we were improved over last season, I am surprised that we won this game though. We lose Bobby Rainey the key to our offense for 6 weeks, and the team played with heart and determination to win. The freshmen stepped up and showed us that the future is now.

    Arizona State is next.

MTSU and Dasher shocked the Terrapin hopeful with a 3
point win thanks to a masterful last second TD toss on the run...

Dasher finished with over 300 yards passing and 150 yards rushing in the Blue Raiders
    spread option attack...

Should be an exciting season in the Sun Belt... Going to figure out how to post highlights and show you all the GW TD...

Might be the most fun I've had playing the game since I bought it...

UNLV shocks #8 Cincy 42-35!!! After dominating much of the 1st half, the Rebels lead 24-14 going into the break. However, after losing starting QB Mike Clausen(out for 4 weeks with back spasms), UNLV struggled to find any offense, at one point going down 35-24. The Rebels caught a lucky break on a Bearcat fumble that was returned for a TD, and with the 2pt conversion it was a 3pt game 35-32. The Rebels were able to get a stop on the Bearcats next possession and when the went back on offense took the lead for good. Later UNLV added a FG for insurance.

    Star of the game:

UNLV RB Channing Trotter 28 carries for 167yds and 1TD

    SMU Romps Buffalo

The SMU Mustangs are thinking big this season and started it out in a big way 37-0 over Buffalo, avenging their bowl loss to the bulls a few months earlier. SMU jumped out to a 14-0 lead after 1 qtr and led 21-0 at the half.

Not feeling quite comfortable with the lead, Coach Onaradio34 left the starters in. On the 1st possesion of the second half Senior RB McNeal took a handoff 70 yrds for a TD. That would end the day for the starters. McNeal ended with 113 yds on 13 carries while Senior QB Mitchell ended his afternoon 11-15 179yrds 2TD's passing 1TD rushing.

SMU rolled up 455 yrds of offense while Buffalo could only manage 88.

Tebiarus Gill after 1 of his 3 touchdown catches

In the 1st of a 3-game stretch Coach Alexander is calling the "Battle for Bama," the Trojans faced the 1st of 3 in-state opponents, the #14 Auburn Tigers. Auburn came into the game confident and heavily favored by the experts. Troy showed up and showed the college football world that they will not be intimidated standing up and going toe-to-toe with an SEC power.

Auburn scored on their 1st drive on a 6-yard touchdown run by T Rollison to put the Tigers up 7-0. Troy struggled on their 1st possession and had to punt the ball back to Auburn. For the next 2 1/2 quarters, the Trojan defense would hold their own against Auburn holding them to just 2 field goals. Troy would use 2 touchdown catches by Tebiarus Gill and a W Goggans 47-yard field goal to take a 17-10 halftime lead.

Jamie Hampton jumps for joy after throwing for a touchdown

Junior quarterback Jamie Hampton came out and threw for 336 yards and 4 touchdowns in his first collegiate start on the road in a hostile environment. The biggest play of the day was the game-winning touchdown for Troy, a 21-yard strike by Hampton to star wideout Jerrel Jernigan with 2:46 to play on a drag route where Hampton stood in the pocket as Jernigan crossed the field, then threw a strike to Jernigan, who was fairly well covered.

    Jerrel Jernigan's game-winning touchdown catch

Troy outgained Auburn 450 to 257 and had 26 first downs to Auburn's 10. Tebiarus Gill was named Player of the Game catching 9 passes for 105 yards and 3 touchdowns. Shawn Southward ran the ball 30 times for 118 yards and caught 2 passes for 16 yards. Jerrel Jernigan caugh 7 passes for 88 yards and the game-winning touchdown.

Up next for Troy, week 2 of the "Battle for Bama" as they will host the #12 Crimson Tide next week in their home opener.

#16 Kansas St vs #13 Stanford

The Cardinals came out played good defense and ran a balanced offensive attack against the very talented Wildcats from Manhattan. Stanford QB, Andrew Luck was very efficient in the game, completing 13 of 14 passes for 232yds and 3 td’s. Last years Doak Walker Award recipient, Stepfan Taylor, was also key in the contest. He had 17 carries for 150yds and 1 td, including a 68yd scamper early in the third qtr that essentially put the game away. “Our defense played very well in the game. They weren’t able to force any turnovers, but did hold on some key third downs that helped stall the momentum of the Kansas St team†comments made By Coach Forever after the game.

Stanford gets on the board first with this 33yd td pass from Luck to R. Whalen midway thru the first qtr.

After both Stanford's #1 and #2 running backs went down due to cramping in the first half, third string running back, U. Amanam comes in to score a td just before the end of the first half. The Cardinals would take a 21-7 lead at intermission.
