An ugly game resulted in an ugly win. In the National Football League, a win is a win. The Vikings had a lot of unanswered questions regarding the meltdown of last season. After being 5-1 at one point, the Purple People Eaters went on a big slide that almost cost us a playoff spot. The owner, management and coaching staff vowed to fix whatever it was that made us buckle the way we did. The first thing, a lot of signings in the offseason to shore up positions and help with depth. The 2nd was the draft. That paid off big time. While the Vikings only gained 272 yards on offense, our defense held the Seahawks to under 200 yards offensively as they only mustered up 182. We were able to take the first lead of the game in the 2nd quarter as Blair Walsh hammered home a FG to make it 3-0. The Seahawks would respond with a nice drive, capped off by a TD to Anthony McCoy who was wide open due to a coverage breakdown. The Seahawks would score again this time coming by way of a FG, 10-3. In the 3rd quarter, after a couple of possession changes, Chad Greenway would recover a fumble off a huge hit by Geno Hayes and return it for 6 which tied the game at 10. This was the play of the game. The Vikings defense came up big allowing the offense to kick another field goal and then stayed strong not giving up anymore points. Christian Ponder didn't have a good game but he was able to throw for almost 200 yards. He threw for 196 but 2 interceptions dulled his day. AP was held in check and only gained 62 yards on 19 carries. Receiving wise, Kevin Rudolph led the way with 5 catches for 69 yards. A big blow in the receiving core happened when Louis Murphy went down for the season.
Defensively, I was very impressed. Great all around and even better play making. Geno Hayes and rookie Orlan McCurley led the way with 5 tackles. Brian Robison had 2 sacks that came on the last drive of the game for the Seahawks which happened to help us win the game. Robison will have to play like this in order to make the Jared Allen trade make sense.
Saints Open Season 2 With a "W" Player of the Game: QB Drew Brees - New Orleans - 16/26, 251 Yards, 2 TDs
16 FINAL 17 Cro's 2 picks help Jets Top Titans -East Rutherford,NY In an old fashion dog fight, the Jets beat the Titans at the home in week 1 of the season. Both teams are predicted to be in the playoffs this season and it showed. A few highlights of the game was the 1st round pick of the Jets RB Aerion Boudreaux scoring his first HK touchdown. Anotonio Cromartie outshined Revis Island this week shutting down Nate Washington and coming up with two picks. Kenny Britt exploited Revis having over 100yds on only 5 or 6 catches. In a contract year, Revis needs to show why he and his agent Neil Schwartz think he should be the top paid defensive player in Hk. Although, Revis giving up 100+ yards to an above average WR Britt will not get him paid. The Jets don't travel in week 2 but they will be the visiting team against the New York "football" Giants. Petty and the Jets better prepared for the battle of New York against a tough team lead by Coach Cimmy........
The Packers came out under a new coach and on Monday Night Football, the whole league was watching to see what they would do. After the Packers fumbled and recovered their opening kickoff, they had no more blemishes on their opening drive and got a TD to go up 7-0 on the Niners. On the Niners first possession, 2nd year QB Colin Kaepernick would drop back on 3rd down, and get his as he was throwing causing a fumble which the Packers would recover and score for a TD to go up 14-0 leaving the 49ers team and fans stunned. But Kaepernick would settle in and the defense stiffened, going into the half it was 14-10 Packers.
In the second half, the 49ers coaching staff would make some adjustments and come out and score a TD to take the lead 17-14 in the 3rd. The Packers would strike right back and go up 21-17 after a nice drive. But the Packers defense could not stop the Niners and their rushing attack and Frank Gore busted a long run for a TD to put the Niners up for good at 24-21. On the next Packers possession, Aaron Rodgers would make a costly mistake throwing a pick 6 to Carlos Rogers to put the Niners up 31-21. After throwing another pick, the Packers would get the ball back and drive down and score a TD with 5 seconds left to give us our final score of 31-28.
Kaepernick - 179 yards 1 TD 1 INT
Rodgers - 287 yards 3 TD 2 INT
Gore - 13 for 102 yards 1 TD
Barnes - 5 for 77 yards 1 TD
Washington - 7 for 17 yards
Davis - 5 catches 63 yards 1 TD
Crabtree - 5 catches 41 yards
Nelson - 4 catches 72 yards
Jennings - 6 catches 72 yards 1 TD
gg Jshaver welcome to HK!
@ Raiders Win In Overtime 37-34 The Raiders would win a crazy game at Ford Field as they would find themselves down 17-0 at the break and really looking awful, but in the 2nd half Oakland was like a new team. All of a sudden we could move the ball and the defense would force a few turnovers to get us back in it as Carson Palmer would hit Darius Heyward-Bey with less the 30 seconds left to tie the game. In overtime Mathew Stafford would hook up with Calvin Johnson on a 3rd and 28 to put The Lions deep in Raider territory, but the defense would hold and force a field goal which put Detroit up 3 with the Raiders getting the ball with a chance to win or tie it. Rookie Kick Returner Josiah Harris would take the kick up the middle 96 yds for the game winning TD. Stats: Mathew Stafford 22/38 433 yds 4 TD's and 2 INT'sCarson Palmer 19/35 4 TD's and 3 INT's Calvin Johnson 7 catches 179 yds and 3 TD'sDarius Heyward-Bey 4 catches 84 yds and 2 TD's Jahvid Best 11 carries 14 ydsPeyton Hillis 10 carries 47 yds GG redwings8831

TAMPA WINS DIVISION OPENER TAMPA- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers played well on defense holding the Atlanta Falcons to under 150yds of total offense and 1 td to get an early divisional lead. Neither team could muster much by way of the passing game, but it was the BUCS running game that proved to be the difference in the contest. HB Doug Martin was able to break a couple of long runs in the game enroute to a 249yd day with 2 td's. Tampa gets the victory, 23-10! GG Cole Copeland
NAILED ITCharger Rookie Kickers last second heroics sends San Diego to 1-0 Chargers 31 Colts 28 Offensive battle, the biggest difference was the Chargers ability to run the ball late. Andrew Luck and Phillip Rivers both played stellar, throwing for 4 and 3 touchdowns respectively. Coby Fleener caught 3 touchdowns for the Colts while the Chargers Robert Meachem had 2 touchdowns and 178 yards receiving on 6 catches. The Chargers drove down the field late tied 28-28. With just 4 seconds remaining the Chargers ran the ball just within field goal range and called a timeout. They sent out young Jason Kinslow, the rookie out of Florida State who was shockingly drafted in the 3rd round, the highest a kicker had been drafted in years. Well, Kinslow sure made the Chargers organization look smart, drilling a 55-yard field goal as time expired with ease, his third of the day. The Chargers move to 1-0 and the Colts great effort rewards them still with a loss. What a great game ChaoticUT , thanks for the fun, good luck next week!
This kind of game is what its all about. Dumb mistakes by the Colts late, great plays by the Chargers late. The veteran Charger team was able to capitalize on a young Colts team to secure a victory.

*First game desync late in the first quarter with the Texans scoring on the opening kick return. After that nothing was doing for each team.
The Steelers would make more plays in the game then the Texans would and it looked exactly like the AFC Wildcard game of last season.
We wondered what the game would look like if Arian Foster was a go, well he had 10 carries for 24 yards and a fumble.
Rookie Texan receiver Bartholomew had 3 catches behind Andre's five.
Rookie Steeler receiver Dominick Bowles had 3 catches one getting wide open for a 58 yard TD.
The Texans shot themselves in the foot with 8 turnovers, 6 of those being interceptions.
Cornerback Brandon Ghee broke his jaw on an interception in the endzone, he was trying to make a play running across the back of the endzone and finally took a hit that resulted in a touchback and him missing the next 4 weeks.

Doomsday for RG3 and the SkinsCowboys defense holds for the 21-16 victory The Dallas Cowboys started off the 2013 season with a New Quarterback and a new approach to football. The Cowboys stepped back to the glory days of football, taking a smashmouth approach to the game. While they didn't pile up a ton of yards, HBs Demarco Murray and Legarrette Blount provided a nice balance and allowed the rookie QB Tanner Hurns to solely focus on managing the game. Hurns made one early mistake, but from there he played great throwing for 3 Touchdowns. Now the Cowboys will take on the Miami Dolphins, another test early in the season.

Bengals reel off 35 unanswered to win 35-6 vs Miami. Dolphins muster just 134 yards of offense. Dalton 12/19 for 223 & 2 TD. McFadden runs 19x for 143 & 1 TD. Jacobs with 2 TD in short yardage. Green 5 catches for 54 yards, TD. Dozier 3 for 36, Gresham 3 for 39, Tate 1 for 80, TD. Dunlap with 4 TFL, 2 sacks. Most importantly, Bengals move to 1-0 and will travel to Indianapolis next week.
PATS RIP G-MEN, GRONKAHM STYLE!!!!! THE MEADOWLNDS, NJ - The New England Patriots got off to a fast start in the season opener against the New York Giants and never looked back riding the arm of Captain America, Tom Brady, to a 28-10 win. Brady threw for 286 yards and connected for a pair of TD passes to both Rob Gronkowski and Jabar Gaffney. After Brandon Lloyd left the game early with a toe injury, Gaffney stepped in and snagged 4 receptions for 131 yards along with his 2 TDs. Gronkowski had 7 catches for 75 yards along with his TDs. However, it was not all good news, as it appears the Pats running game is still non-existent to weak at best. The Pats only managed 73 yards rushing as a team with the bulk of the carries going to back-ups Ridley and Vereen following an early injury to Ben Tate. The Patriot defense showed up as well allowing the G-Men only 165 yards through the air and 33 yards on the ground. Jerod Mayo led the way with 8 solo tackles, and the Pats sacked Eli Manning 4 times.
