    Season 2: Week 10 summaries

MTSU squeaked out a close one against lowly FIU in Miami 47-44.

Dwight Dasher was knocked out of the game early with an abdominal strain forcing sophomore backup Brent Burnette to lead the way.

Burnette filled in nicely going 14-21 for 337, with 3 TDs but two bad INTs too.

Junior RB DD Kyles was player of the game with 21 carries for 122 yards and 2 TDs with an additional 76 yards through the air on 6 snags with another score.

Junior WR Sancho Mcdonald led the receiving Corp with 3 receptions for 122 yrds and a long 58 yard TD.

FIU's defense abused LT Mike Williams for 5 sacks!

Defensively, the Blue Raiders sacked FIU only twice, but did pick off the passing attack twice and senior defensive end Jamari Lattimore added a rare safety early in the game.

    Glad this one is over.

    #1 Stanford vs NMSU

The Stanford Cardinals celebrate their first victory as the #1 team in the nation against a less than competitive foe in NMSU. Stanford scored the first 28 points of the game and lead 31-7 at the half. After scoring another td early in the third qtr, Coach Forever had seen enough and subbed the entire team all at once; something he had never done before. "Our kids played like a #1 team today. This was a complete team victory. We will relish this victory for what it is and regain focus Monday for our next opponent, Fresno State".

    Final Score:

    Stanford: 51

    NMSU: 7

    Player of the Game

Stefan Taylor earned player of the game awards after a 146yd, 2 td performance against The Aggies of NMSU.

Baylor found themselves in a brutal tough game with Colorado St pulling it out late 24-14. Very hard hitting game with Baylor QB Robert Griffin turning it over 3 times inside the 10 yard line. Baylor almost blew a 17-0 lead as the Rams cut it to 17-14 late in the 4th on a fumbled option keeper. But the Bears ran it down the undersized CSU DL and scratched out a late TD winning 24-14. Next up for the Bears a huge user game with UNLV...

    L.Smith Runs Memphis By UAB

Legion Field, Alabama- It was a tale of two halves for the Memphis Tigers on Saturday. After getting completely manhandled in the first half, the Tigers rebounded in the second to sneak past UAB 17-13.

Defense played a major factor in the first half. Memphis moved the ball well but drives continously stalled. UAB also moved the ball well and had to drives stall inside the Memphis 20 and would have to settle for two field goals to give them a 6-0 lead midway through the second. After a Memphis punt with 17 seconds left in the half, UAB would surprise the Tigers by not running out the clock. Two 20+ yard passes would get the Dragons just outside the Memphis 20 with 8 seconds left in the half. A 20 yard TD pass from B.Ellis would give the Dragons all the momentum as they entered the half now up 13-0.

But the second half belonged to the Tigers. The Tigers defense looked great in the second half. With strong running by Lance Smith, the Tigers took UAB right out of the game. Smith touched the ball 37 times as he rushed for 151 scores including two touchdowns. G.Ray would also help carry the load as he chipped in with 60 yards.

After scoring twice in the third quarter to go up 14-13, the Memphis defense was lockdown. After giving up well over 200 yards in the first half, the Tigers only allowed 6 total yards in the final frame to seal the victory.

With the win the Tigers are keeping pace with Marshall and their game in a few weeks will determine who goes to the C-USA championship game. Next week the Tigers have a tall task as they face in-state powerhouse Tennessee University.
